Saluda's Ratings and Reviews
Saluda's was a very good choice for my dinner party of 9. Everyone enjoyed their food and the desserts were all great! The atmosphere was fairly quiet, but the restaurant was pretty empty as it was a Thursday night. This was my second time coming to Saluda's.
My wife and I both had amazing meals. Her watermelon was delicious, my buffalo oysters where the best I've had. Main course I had the lamb chops and she had the pork. We finished with the chocolate pudding cake that was on point. If we had any complaints it would be about the martinis we had. They were not cold enough and the olive brine had an odd taste. We switched to wine after our cocktails had had not further issues. I recommend you ask that they shake them more and maybe they should switch drink condiment vendors. Over all we will definitely come back again to try more menu items.
The caprese salad was pretty good, my friend had the shrimp & grits & said it was good. I had the steak special. I asked for it to be rare and the server did tell me that the chef recommended it medium rare but that she would ask for it to be as rare as possible. The steak was medium & more tough than I was expecting. It was good, just not great. The margarita was supposed to be spicy- I think the steak & margarita were to SC standards, overcooked and not very spicy. Overall, the food was good.
In making the reservation we wrote that it was a special occasion with an engagement and 37 anniversary dinner. Nothing was said and nothing special was made available. Would have made an enjoyably dinner more enjoyable.
If nothing special is made for special occasions then don't put that on the reservation.
Excellent food! Great atmoshpere and good service. Went during "5 after 5" which was a bit noisy inside. Either turn the indoor music up or off. It was hard focusing on both. It was just as hot inside as it was outside. Overall, great food and expetience in Columbia.
Very good food.
Absolutely a zero on accessibility. Steep flight of stairs leading to the second story location, and no elevator or alternate entrance for people with even minor mobility problems. We've eaten there a number of time, and whenever the issue of access is broached, it is brushed aside. I have to believe there is an elevator they just don't want to disclose.
Again, food is very good, and service is as well.
My husband enjoyed his food but my hanger steak, the special for the evening, was under cooked and had a dreadful texture. I had a conversation with the waiter about how I would like it cooked and he convinced me it needed to be medium rare, but the cook went too far towards rare and it was not good.
This was our third time dining at Saluda's. As always, the food, service and ambiance were excellent! The first time was April 2015 to celebrate our dating anniversary. The second time was in honor of purchasing our new home together. My now husband had other plans for that evening though, when he got down on one knee at Saluda's and asked me to marry him. The waiter photographed and recorded the entire event at my husband's request. It was amazing! Our most recent visit was a continuation of the celebration associated with our wedding. Our family realized how much we love the restaurant, so we received a gift certificate as one of our wedding gifts. One of the specials that night was my favorite seafood (swordfish) and a new margarita flavored by my favorite fruit (blood orange). It's like they knew we were dining that evening...lol. Saluda's has never failed to wow us, and we'd recommend it again and again! We've even been able to get the same outdoor table each time.
Best Shrimp & Grits! Made reservations and told celebrating 50th Anniversary of our friends, but our server never mentioned she even knew. We clearly included it on our "Open Table" reservation request. Our server was pleasant, but distracted. Our guest had to ask her for Splenda and ice for his tea several times before she remembered to bring them. Salad was served before our appetizers, and that was a bit of a pain. We love the food at Saluda's and always try to celebrate special events here. It is a shame there is not easy access to the restaurant. It is impossible for handicap access, with steep stairs only to enter. This has made a difference with whom we invite to dine with us.
