First time dining here ... wonderful experience!
We like Saluda’s a lot.
Server was rude. Ruined the ambiance and quality of the food, unfortunately an occurnace in the industry. Hopefully she will realize since remarks aren’t cute although we still tipped well.
I understand it was a Saturday night during restaurant week which was bound to be pretty busy and it was. We made a reservation and upon entrance we sat at the bar where we were immediately served, the drinks were perfect.. We were seated pretty shortly after.
I knew after reading the entire menu that I wanted the Apple crumble but our waiter explained that it was only offered as a part of the Restaurant Week Special.
We ordered the buffalo oysters which were so great we reordered them. I ordered a house salad and the fried pork chop entree and the Bourbon Apple Crumble.
The salad was delicious. It took a bit at times to get water but I know they were busy. The fried pork chop was cooked well internally but I wasnt fond of the outer fried crust. The sweet potato & broccolini setup was fine. The grain mustard left something to be desired. The scallops and beets ordered by my bf was excellent as well.
And then the coup de gras they were out of Apple Crumble!!
So I releuctantly ordered the brownie which seemed over cooked.
Upon arriving home we realized that the two meals that we ordered and asked him to box he boxed together. The pork chop & sweet potatoes w mustard with the other plate of beets and scallops, why I do not know.
Saluda’s has been on my list for a while and I was a little let down.
Service was horrid. We took friends and it was embarrassing. Finally got beverages after an hour with THIRD request. Room was too loud to converse. I won’t be returning.
Awesome service!!’ Great vegetarian options :-)
Great New Years dinner and atmosphere.
The food was amazing . The service impeccable . My only issue was with the wait time . Our reservation was for 8:15 and we were not seated until 9:00 . They were apologetic and said that tables were lingering . On such an occasion Many restaurants of their caliber have 3 set seatings and the customers know this in advance. The expectation is set and the diner knows they will have a set time to enjoy their dining experience. Otherwise you could have early tables sitting for hours and wreaking havoc on your reservations . I had not eaten since breakfast and I was ready to Knaw off the bartenders arm . They have appetizers but nothing really quick and conducive to eating at the bar especially when you may be seated at any time .. it’s a surprise ! Maybe offering additional appetizer selections like a dip with crackers or bread etc . I will try this restaurant again , just not on New Years Eve unless I feast before :)
New Year's Eve experience was outstanding! We were seated quickly, service was exceptional! Food is always on point at Saludas. This is a staple restaurant in Columbia where you can count on consistency and excellence every time.
I wouldn't not recommend it, but it wouldn't be a place I would rave about to them. It was good, not great.
New Year’s Eve dinner with extended family. Everyone raved about their meals (especially the pork chops!). Food was really slow getting to the table but server was friendly and helpful with menu choices.
Excellent service and the food was divine! I will definitely be back.
We ordered a cheese plate that only came with hard cheese. We did complain, so the server comped it for us. I ordered the salmon, but didn’t want the sauce that came with it. I asked for “any cream sauce” they had on hand and I was charged $7.00 for the sauce. I was disappointed with the value of the meal.
Had a great time at Saluda's! The food was some of the most spectacular I've ever had, the service was professional and speedy, and it was overall a very pleasant, delicious experience.
The Saluda’s experience is not particularly spectacular. The location isn’t very handicap accessible, which caused my wife and I worry due to meeting there with her grandparents. The ambiance was terrible and we were practically sitting in the dark. It was difficult to see. Ordered cheese tray, found that to be a difficult experience as well. Bread is oversized for cheese, honey, and jam portions given. Cheese isn’t sliced, which isn’t easy to do when you’re using a bread knife in a very narrow access area between wine glasses and water glasses. Jam and honey we’re just splattered on wooden tray, requiring scraping off the tray. Would be a better experience if bread was small portion, cheese was already sliced, and jam and honey were in containers.
Dinner service was decent but not great. My wife and grandparents all ordered the scallops, which were excellent. I ordered the filet mignon, which was of low quality beef and supposed to be cooked to medium rare but was served blue. After sending it back once, it was again served blue. Very disappointing. The bacon macaroni and cheese is not particularly worth your time.
Their Grand marnier creme brûlée is decent, but not stellar.
Finally I took note of the fact that several tables are made from cheap plastic and aluminum, the kind you get at Costco or Sam’s club. This confirmed that this restaurant has a veneer of fine cuisine that might be convincing in Columbia, but would never pass muster in any city with a reputation of good food. I’d recommend you avoid it, at least to avoid overpriced food.
The waitress, Ariel, was polite and sweet. She was one shining light in an otherwise gloomy dining experience.
As always the food was crazy amazing ! This time my server was Parker and her attention to detail and winning smile made the experience a memorable one. Kudos to Saludas. Best restaurant in Cola.
Well, it’s the time of Christmas parties so we expected a wait, so we opted for seating at the bar where we waited for our table to empty and then be setup for us. While waiting, we were offered a free appetizer, which we declined as we were not in a hurry. After a short while we we’re escorted to our table. Long story short, management comped our entrees. Great meal and great service! Kudos to this establishment for making their guests feel valued!
Osso Bucco was not impressive. Service fair at best. Quite Loud. Bartender was great
Great venue to celebrate any special occasion or date night. Lovely bar, great restaurant, fab service, yummy food, complimentary valet, what more could you wish for😊
Restaurant was packed but got seated at a great table with a view of Five Points. Despite the restaurant being very busy we had perfect service and food. Our waiter was terrific, always available but not intrusive. Cocktails were great. Wine List is one of the best I've ever seen. All the food was great, we had both seafood dishes and steaks and everyone thought the food was awesome. Perfect restaurant to celebrate a special occasion or host a business dinner. Noticed two private dining rooms that were both filled with Christmas parties. One of the best restaurants in South Carolina.
Saluda's is one of our favorite restaurants in Columbia. We took another couple there recently. The food was truly wonderful in taste, temperature, and presentation. The service was very personal and wonderful. We did not have to ask for refills as they were always there. The food came at a good, timely pace. We could enjoy a great conversation without any hint of a noise disruption from the other patrons.
It looks like more and more people are finding Saluda's as there was a large crowd there that evening.
We will be back and recommend that others go.
Great time !! thanks again can't wait for next time !
Great experience, great food, fabulous favors, and great service! Saluda’s is a staple in Columbia for great places to dine.
Went to celebrate for my brother’s graduation. It was absolutely perfect. Great food, service, and the place was perfect for the occasion.
We came here for our anniversary. First time coming but it definitely will not be our last. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect.
Blake was great - the fried deviled eggs are to die for
Great location, ambiance. Food outstanding.
This restaurant has been by far the best that I’ve been to in Columbia! The food is amazing and the waiter/waitress that I’ve had has been nothing but the best! The atmosphere is absolutely awesome especially for romantic dates like the one I took my husband on on Thursday. You will definitely be getting my business often!
My wife enjoyed it
BEING pleased with the restaurant made my night
We had tile fish, lamb osso bucco and the scallops. All delicious! Jessica was fabulous and made our evening memorable.
Overall, the dining experience was very good and the dinner menu was very creative. However, I was curious why the chef decided to use shredded carrots in a sweet glaze to accompany the cold ahi tuna appetizer. The sweet flavor overpowered the delicate and perfectly cooked tuna which was served rare. In addition, the sesame seed coating on the tuna had no flavor/character. I recommend that the chef create a Tamari/Sesame oil/Fresh Ginger dipping sauce and replace the boring shredded carrots with a seaweed salad.
Overall was good. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. Good was overall very good. Had an issue with the ribeye steak meal but was handled quickly and professionally. Will be back again.
We were in town visiting our daughter at usc. We have dined here before and wanted to return. Saluda’s was excellent again. We enjoyed fun cocktails and mussels to start. Service was wonderful and gave us time in between courses to relax and enjoy our meal. We all had different entrees and they were all delicious. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food. The sides that accompany the meals were excellent also.
Saluda's continues to be our favorite restaurant in Columbia.
Wonderful service. Delicious food and drinks. Would recommend.
Our meal was delicious and it was the perfect place for dinner with friends.
Dinner was fabulous! Drinks we're really good as well. Can't wait to return.
Everything was cooked perfectly! We did a mixture of appetizers and had scallops for dinner. Passed on dessert, but did indulge in some wine and cheese. Beautiful selection
It was our 8th Anniversary!!!
Mediocre food. Nice server. Cold in seating above front door.
