Salty's on the Columbia Ratings and Reviews
Great setting on a sunny day. "All you can eat" Sunday brunch. NOTHING was notable as a particular dish or offering. I would not go back for the quality of the food. If you like a nice, fully filled restaurant, with great wait staff, and an abundance of very standard brunch food, this is the place for you. A one time only for my family. For the price we prefer quality over quantity.
Excellent food. Excellent service. The Sunday Brunch was very busy but it was worth it. The seafood was very fresh for a buffet setting, including the oysters which is not easy to do. The rest of the food items were very good as well with the desserts being very impressive in quality and presentation.
We were greeted initially and pushed toward downstairs seating. We asked to have a drink in the bar but to be seated downstairs. We were given probably ten minutes in the bar before a hostess told us we needed to be seated in the side bar area. We were placed across from a couple speaking Russian who were very loud. I was surprised as there were many open tables in the area.
Service was below average. My clam chowder was barely warm. Our table was so small that it couldn't contain the dishes needed for our crab, the shells, the bread, and our wine. I was puzzled why we were seated in such a small table as there were many open larger tables in the area.
We had to request more bread, for the shell receptacles to be taken away, etc. Our wine glasses were never refilled. I had to ask three times to have an ice bucket for the wine so it would be chilled.
We are long-time Salty's customers. We have never been treated in the manner we experienced tonight. It will be a long time before we return, if ever. It makes me sad to see a restaurant that was one of our favorites deteriorate to this level.
The service was good (nice staff), but the food was mediocre and incredibly overpriced. The best thing Salty's has going for it is the amazing Columbia River view. Otherwise, much better sea food at a far better value can be found at other Portland restaurants.
We had a group of 6 for brunch including a diner who eats no seafood. We all left very full and pleased with the fare. Whitney, our server is an asset to Salty's. She was thoughtful, efficient and very welcoming. An 80 mile drive for us and well worth the effort, plan to come often.
Overall great food and great service.
Seafood is fresh. Other items are really good too, from sides to desserts.
Hostesses, waiters, cooks, and bus staff are all professional and do a great job. Have seen some of the same people from previous years, still providing great service.
We chose Salty's as a special family meal, as a way of saying goodbye to our son, who was returning to graduate school. Every aspect of the meal was first class, just as we had hoped. Fish chowder is served with (optional) sherry. Dishes are creatively prepared, with interesting presentations. Service was attentive, with helpers handy to refill water and whisk away empty plates. And of course, the views of the Columbia River were outstanding.
Very close to PDX.
Great room and nice location to enjoy the scenery, everything after that is just ok.
Extremely arrogant and unprofessional waiter. Our soup and salad showed up after our meal came, and we had to ask for them, and waiter didn’t seem to care. The food was just average, and definitely not a good value for the price.
This is a tough one to review. First we received a perfect window seat as requested and the lights were dimmed for superb viewing if the holiday boat parade. The drinks came quickly but the appetizers took a while. When they came, the food was fabulous and serving sizes were substantial! Then, it was almost an hour before the main entrees arrived. Servings were small for $32 and the salmon at $42 was not edible. Management was immediately apologetic and offered a replacement but it was getting late. They made everything good which is why I still recommend it. Go for the chowder, salad and any of the appetizers- they are almost a meal themselves!
One of the reasons we chose Salty’s was to view the Christmas Ships Parade. We were not disappointed. And our server juggled several large parties with finesse and professionalism. Loved the food, it was all good. We are already planning to return next year!
Our server Brian was fantastic. Food was great! We did not realize the restaurant closed at 8 (our reservation was for 7:15). Not ONCE did Brian or any of the staff let on that they were closing even in the suttle get out of here way that I probably would have. We felt so bad when all the sudden we looked around and the place was empty and realized they were closed. I’m so sorry, but what an awesome team they have there that not once tried to boot us out even though I’m sure they wanted to ;) Thanks again!
We were celebrating our anniversary and we were sat next to a very loud party, my husband and I had to shout to each other....not very romantic. Shrimp came out chewy and dry and pasta was room temp, husbands plate ( pork belly and scallops to salty) all in all we won't be coming back....this was our 3rd visit. Ambiance was wonderful and server was great!
