The setting is beautiful on the river. We have been coming here for a number of years and this time it was for my daughters birthday. The food was served cold and very disappointing. Our sever was very nice but stretched to thin. The experience was very disappointing on a special occasion.

We do we have to pay for the bread ? It use to be free. It should be 3.00 dollar charge not 5.00. Just a thought .

The food was very good. I had the grilled King Salmon. 3-4 oz of salmon with 6-7 small potatoes rounds under and half full fork of cabbage with a single row of corn off the cob, blackened...thanks to the bread, I got full. Although the dinner was extremely small for the price, it was some of the most flavorful salmon I have ever had. It was recommended by friends that I get the Surf And Turf. But at 75.00 for a 5oz filet and a lobster tail, I had to pass. Noise level was moderate when we arrived, some folks with a couple in them were loud. Overall noise was okay. Based on price alone, I would probably not go back. However, I would recommend to friends for the food but caution against he price. Overall, it was an okay experience.

I ordered the fish and chips and clam chowder. The fish portion was soggy and tasteless, I was kinda hoping for a treat considering the price for a bar food item. The chips were tasty. What will bring me back is the clam chowder and the view. Very welcoming staff, Thank you!

A must if you're in the Portland area and hungry. Sit outside on the deck on a clear evening and watch the sunset as sailboats tack down the Columbia,.....just doesn't get much better. But wait, you may be lucky enough to have Ashley wait on you,...just got better ;-)

Sunday brunch is well worth making a reservation if you enjoy seafood. Crab leg is a real value for the price. The rest of the mainstay items like eggs, bacon, omelets, and waffles are good, but not exceptional. The work stations that make custom omelettes and crepes have the longest wait times. The food trays were refreshed within 15 minutes and the wait staff is excellent. Definitely worth the price if you are hungry. I recommend ordering off the menu if you have a lite appetite. The deck view was quiet and wonderful. Be aware the proximity next to the Portland airport does mean you will have jet engines passing by.

Best place in Portland. I go here pretty often and it never disappoints. Crab, beef, omelet, etc......all is very tasty and the overall cost is well worth it.

although I recommend for any meal, Salty's is our favorite for Sunday Brunch. Wide selection covering cold and hot appetizers, seafood, meats, pastries as well as traditional breakfast items and made-to-order omelettes and crepes.
The service is top-notch; always attentive and happy to please.
Highly recommended.

I keep saying that this is the best weekend brunch in Portland, especially if you’re into seafood and bottomless mimosas! You just can’t go wrong here! The wait staff are all wonderful!

Only thing i didnt like was the hornets outside.
And i wish i was given a wet towel for my crab hands.
I misse the brussels sprouts for brunch.
I like the new red buckets for shells.
Everything else was perfect.

Everything was GREAT ! Our server was very friendly and helpful and the food was really good. It is nice being at a restaurant and able to actually hear each other talk! Very nice all around. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that it was a tiny bit pricey. But still great!!!

I dined in the bar upstairs on two nights. Delicious clam chowder with Cream Sherry floater, salmon bacon salad(only order if you like soft, rich salty fatty salmon) delicious and not salty fresh oysters and prime rib sliders. Very good service the first night (Jack) and good service second night.
Great view of the Columbia River from most tables as well as the bar. This place smothers with service. Free valet parking that I used on one night at 5:25PM and was not around the other night at 7:45PM.
The dinner menu is not overly extensive and very high priced for the most part. The happy hour 3-6PM offers great value with $2 oysters that do not disappoint. Very good provincial beer and wine lists.
Watch your reservation here, they cancelled mine, after i checked in and after Open table sent me an email confirming my rez. Very strange

Positives: the service was VERY good. Our waiter provided attentive but not intrusive service. We were outside on the upper deck at 7:30pm. We felt like we were on vacation. My husband’s cod fish and chips was very good. The clam chowder was also very good.
Negatives: my fried chicken was dry and just not very good. This was designated as a Salty’s specialty on the menu. The special lemonade I ordered was very sweet and tasted like it came out of a soda dispenser with some puréed old fruit added. The prices are very high for the overall quality of the food. However, you are also paying for the outstanding setting on the Columbia.
I would recommend Salty’s for a special setting dinner, just not for the food since Portland has better to offer

A party of 4, we opted for outside patio dining since the weather was nice. The view was beautiful (beautiful views are also accessed from indoors!), the waitstaff and manager were welcoming and attentive. The food, true to the previous two times we have dined here, was fabulous! Nobody was disappointed with anything. I had the Lavender Honey Steelhead entree, croquettes filled with creamed cheese, a green salad base with a honey lavender dressing, fresh blueberries and blackberries, and maybe pieces of nuts topped with an edible flower. As a side, I had a wonderfully seasoned deep fried artichoke! (see menu for complete description!). It’s a summer seasonal entree. The flavors on the plate were amazing. I described it to my friends as a ‘Meg Ryan’ dining moment!

I will eat here every opportunity I can! Never disappoints!!! Shout outs to the manager, David Gorman (apologies if I blotched his last name!), our waitress was “Laura”, whom also has been with the restaurant several years and loves it as much as we do! Shout out to the helpful young man that checked us in - very helpful!

NOW, ON THE OTHER HAND: Thinking all Salty’s in the NW would be as good as this one, we went to the Salty’s at Alkai (sp), near Seattle, in 2018. It was a horrible experience,(food and service).

*We save our Salty’s dining for the Portland, OR, ‘Salty’s on the Columbia’. Don’t miss this dining experience!*

This is a good 'occasion' restaurant but the price doesn't quite jive with the experience. The service was very good and the view of the Columbia river is very nice. We had the Sunday brunch- the spread was quite good but in the end, it didn't quite live up to the price, which is quite high for what you get.

We have been there probably 4 times or so over several decades. It's fun occasionally but nothing about the recent visit will get us back there any time soon. On the other hand, I'm sure we will do it again at some point.

It's a busy place so reservations are certainly recommended.

The restaurant was very crowded and we had a particularly loud party at the next table. Quiet conversation was difficult. The food was good, although astoundingly expensive. I guess it’s good value if you plan to load up multiple plates of crab and prime rib, but I will not go there again for a ‘normal’ meal where conversation is the goal.
