Salty's provides good food in a comfortable riverside setting. We enjoyed the Friday night jazz combo upstairs after dining on good seafood downstairs. We recommend especially the clams-mussels appetizer and the halibut specials. It was a pleasant rainy April outing, and we plan to head back in fair weather to enjoy dining outdoors.
This is a Portland classic. Can't beat the view!! Consistently wonderful experience from the food to the wait staff.
It was unbelievably noisy on a Thursday night - had difficulty chatting with my guest.
Great day for lunch on the river. Sunny day, great view at window table, delicious meal.
Return visit to Salty’s to celebrate a birthday. Service was great, beautiful day to view the river/views, food was good but the prices have skyrocketed! Are we paying for the view now?
The view is spectacular. However the food, not so much. The grilled Salmon and risotto - was good. However, the halibut was mediocre and the crab cakes were bland. The noise level is really the biggest obstacle for any recommendation. It was unbearable - truly the 3 of us were yelling to carry on a conversation and even the server was difficult to communicate with. One would think the restaurant had a huge party going on, but that was not the case. Truly disappointing.
Everything was great, my wife had several seafood sides for her dinner, they were wonderful. I had the NY steak, it was blah; the smashed potatoes that came with it had more flavor. For $60 I sure expected more.
We won't be coming back.
The food was wonderful and the variety was great. Our waiter did a great job making us feel special. We have been been there many times before and will be coming back.
Best brunch in Portland!
My only observation, and this is most definitely not a complaint, I really wish there were some varieties of food that weren’t slathered in milk butter, cheese and dairy. I know you guys can’t accommodate everyone’s dietary needs but as someone who is allergic to dairy it was hard for me to find things to eat since most of the gravy and sauce items all included dairy and butter and all of the cheeses and desserts were dairy. I ended up eating crab, prime rib and oysters with no sides which was absolutely fabulous! BUT I was just really bummed that there weren’t any sides to accommodate dairy free people. I know there are too many dietary conditions to consider but I thought I would let you know that it was part of my decision to probably never return. I feel like I would’ve got my moneys worth if I could’ve eaten some of the sides, cheeses and deserts. Otherwise fabulous.
We absolutely love coming here for brunch, its amazing every time and the service is amazing!
It was a party of 4 for a Saturday brunch to celebrate the 40th birthday of my son. I made the reservation weeks before my trip to Oregon on Open Table. We waited for 15 minutes despite of a confirmed reservation. Also, I requested a table with a view of the river. When we were finally ushered to a table, which was empty and had a beautiful view of the river, we were reseated us to a different table, which didn’t make me happy.
Having experienced a buffet consisting of wide array of seafoods at other restaurants here in the States and and abroad, Salty’s pales in comparison. I don’t understand the big hoopla about this restaurant. There is nothing spectacular about it!
Our waiter was super attentive and energetic. The food was wonderful and the selections were endless. Will definitely be coming back!
Top notch service and a wonderful view of the Columbia river, throw in all the crab, shrimp and clams you can eat and it can't be beat.
Good food with good view
After having to cancel 2 previous reservations for my friends 100th birthday this was finally our celebration birthday dinner! She was able to go upstairs with the assistance of several male waiters so she could enjoy a front row seat at the window for a view of the grand Columbia River on an absolutely beautiful day. The service by Brian and staff was impecable, the food was delicious with a birthday dessert for the birthday girl. We don't go to Salty's frequently but when we do it is for something special, thank you for always making it special!!
Extremely good seafood and nice atmosphere. The fish and chips were amazing.
We loved the seafood platter with oysters, crab, prawns and shrimps. Definitely a dish to share ! We'll go back on a heart beat.
Went on a Monday evening with 11 people. Had our table ready when we arrived and everyone from the hostess to the manager was so nice. Of course our food and drinks we OUTSTANDING as well.
I love everything about Saltys!!!! However there was a table that was extra loud. But I don’t expect much to be done with trying to ask adults to quite down🤷🏽♂️
Overall great food and service, wish they didn’t blast arena jams for Sunday brunch. This place would crush it with live jazz or blues on Sunday brunch.
I'm a walking billboard for your brunch. I love it!
It was my first visit for brunch ever . I really enjoyed it . Great food and the service was stellar . I would definitely do it again .
Very good service. Food excellent nice flavors and mix of fresh seafood. Although loud able to hear what our server Andrew was saying clearly. Would live to see the views on a clear day.
We had a large party which was easily accommodated by Salty's. We used the online reservation which worked great. We found the food great and the view excellent. We also had great service!
75th birthday celebration for mom with family.
It was friends get together and we had so much fun. Food little bit expensive ( 6oz king salmon $60 on special)
Service is great, will probably come back, but will have some snacks at home ;)
Great time spent celebrating my wife’s and nieces Birthdays.
What a great way to spend the morning! Delicious food and a beautiful view!
Crab cocktail was $19 but only had 3 or 4 small chunks, for that price i was hoping for more.
Grilled halibut on pilaf with avocado feta salad was really seemed like grilled halibut with boxed Mexican rice and packaged guacamole
We don't enjoy the brunches but every other time is always wonderful.
As usual we loved our experience at Salty’s. We were a little disappointed, however
Way overpriced for the quality of the food. Good service.
Great place on the river for lunch! Food is excellent and service was perfect.
Great service. Zero complaints. The food is insanely overpriced for what it is. I ordered the halibut tacos. It was literally two thumb sized pieces of fish, one on each of the two tacos and five (count them) five tortilla chips for a side. They charged $28 for this. It was borderline embarrassing. Other meals at my table were similarly small but expensive. My wife had a steak salad with 6 chunks of steak probably 3 ounces tops. Lunch for the family was $150 plus tip. I simply cannot reccomend this to anyone not for the price but the price in proportion to what you get for it. We stopped at a drive through on the way home. Not kidding. Two days earlier we went to McGrath’s fish house and the food was awesome and all of us took home leftovers. Food there’s was under $100 for 6 people (4 adults+2 children), same as here. Yes it’s a chain and the ambience is nowhere near as nice. But the food was better hands down. I’m sorry but after this place was hyped up I was extremely disappointed and my family from out of town felt the exact same. You have a beautiful restaurant and a wonderful location and your servers are exceptionally well trained. Perhaps that is why your food portions are so small because you can get away with it.
We ate here two nights in a row. In town and it was close by. A winner for sure. Great team and extra great service.
The restaurant is actually very beautiful and charming and amazing part of the river. And the food was very good except for some of their Fry dishes. The calamari was soggy when I got to the table and the fried artichoke side vegetable was like eating Concrete that definitely needs to be reworked but I must say the crab cake was delicious as was the smoke Steelhouse they had run out of the Dungeoness crab which is really what we come for. I think my biggest peeve about the restaurant was the bath were old and seemed dirt and at the price point (over $300 for four people two of which split an enter)they are charging I expect everything to be perfect
Food was good. Sauce for Calamari appetizer had no flavor.
Brunch is legit! Delish as always! Thank you!!
Delicious food! Stations regularly refilled. Service was attentive.
