Salty's at Redondo Beach Ratings and Reviews
Have been to this locations many many times. took my wife here on our first date 36 years ago. This time server was lacking, poor service and none attentive. Had to ask several times for items ordered but not served. Then came check out time. Wow this was a lessen on why all young people should learn how to add and subtract. Even if one of the computers is out of service. I know i didn't understand this excuse either.
November 2 made my third time at Salty's that week. I was there with my God daughter for Crabby Monday. The food and the service was excellent! I was there after work on Wednesday for happy hour with a friend/co-worker who just needed to un whine. We both ordered from the happy hour menu. We were a bit disappointed with how long we had to wait for our food and when it did come it wasn't hot. We did leave our comments about the service before we left. Before my friend could even get home, she received a call from the manager on duty. She explained her situation to the mgr. The manger apologized and offered to mail her a gift card. But since we had dinner reservations there the next day with co worker, she was given the gift card in person. We received complimentary appetizers and was assigned the same waitress we had the day before. The service and food was enjoyed by all of us(table of 5).
We took our out-of-town guests and were surprised at the limited menu. We remembered having more choices in the past. I ordered the 7 oz filet mignon, two of the guys had the burger, and our other guest order salmon. All the food was delicious, though slow service. Not interested in going back due to the limited menu.
Very "slow" service. We arrived at 7:30 and didn't leave until 9:00 even though they were not very busy. Went on a date with my wife for restaurant week. We both ordered the same thing. We were both up several times during the night with stomach cramps and spent the next day visiting the bathroom. We got some type of food bacteria from the food. Overall it was a very disappointing experience and will not be going back.
Location is the big selling point for Salty's at Redondo. Great views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Food is fresh and tasty. But price keep climbing. When I first moved to the area in 1987, Sunday brunch was 16.95. Now, it's $35 or more....haven't been for w while.
Overall, the whole experience was great!
The only 2 things that I can criticize on is the seafood omelette and some of the dungeness crab.
the omelette tasted like it was made with old seafood and I came across a couple pieces of dungeness crab that was pretty bad.
Celebrated a Birthday on a Crabby Monday. Food took a long time but they were extremely busy. Otherwise it was great service and a good meal for a very reasonable price. Only drawbacks were the wait time for the food and the noise from neighboring tables and we were actually asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu before our meal even came out. Oops.
We go for Sunday brunch once a year or so, and it never disappoints. This time was especially good, with the Dungeness crab (the main attraction) especially tasty, with plump, sweet tasting meat that tasted darn close to right off the dock. Oysters also stood out. They need fresh, full size bagels to go with the lox (the mini bagels were stale) and they need to stop serving their sorry excuse for clam chowder--it looks and tastes like glue, only a lot more salty. But, in the scheme of things, still top notch, with exemplary service. Best waterfront dining value on Puget Sound.
Always enjoy coming here for the water & mountain view & delicious seafood. Great presentation & specials. Service usually very good with friendly atmosphere & staff. Has gotten a little spendy, but great special: crabby Monday nights in October. 2 # of chilled or steamed crab to crack (2 whole crabs!!) cup of chowder & Caesar salad for $30...EXCELLENT
Brunch here was Ok. I would go to Alki Saltys before going here again. Waffles were always out and when they replenished they only replenished with 4 of them. It’s a small restaurant, but beautiful view and the staff was amazing. It was so hot in the restaurant that we opened the windows for some air flow. The kids loved being able to go play on the beach right outside when they finished eating and the adults continued conversation.
Thursday night with good weather, perhaps the last of the season. Checked open table before we left and did not think we needed a reservation but when we arrive at 6PM, it was packed and they were telling people the wait was 12 parties for outside and they could seat us in about an hour inside. We went outside and made a reservation for 6:30PM on Open Table and came back about 6:15PM. We waited in the bar until 6:30PM and were seated on time. My wife had the appetizer portion of crab cakes and a Caesar salad and both were very good. I had chioppino and the sauce was rich and spicy, perhaps a bit to spicy for many but I liked it. The chioppino had a big chunk of crab in the middle so it was a bit messy to eat with all the legs and shells. As I was finishing, they brought me a hot wet towel for cleanup. In the past they have brought a nice basket of sourdough bread but not this time. I asked the server about this and he said they only do it on request. There was no extra charge for the bread. We had the white chocolate mousse cake for desert and it was very good. The food is always good at Salty's but we feel it is significantly more expensive that a competing waterfront restaurant in DesMoines that we like just as much.
