Salty's at Redondo Beach Ratings and Reviews
Was seated at an uncomfortable seat that was an outdoor table crammed inside for Valentine’s Day. They ran out of NY Steak by 7pm, the lobster tail and parmesan crusted cod were just mediocre. The famous chowder was like warm. Servers were nice but lacked attention to detail. $150 on a dinner for two should be a much better experience.
My wife and I have enjoyed Saltys at Redondo for many years. Brunch is our favorite. We come to brunch with friends occassionaly. I especially like the view and ambiance. I have to say I am not that impressed with the menu and the food I had recently. Not much of a selection and too expensive for us. No wonder we dont get to dine out often. Although my selection was not bad food, it certainly wasnt a very good value for a regular couple just trying to enjoy an evening out. Obviously, that fact limits our dining options and opportunities. We will probably be back, just dont know when. I will check the menu on line to see if it has improved before I make reservations next time.
Three out of four of us thought the food was great. I had the seafood fettuccine and found the sauce to be lacking in taste. We had a great table by the window and our waiter Tracy was provided outstanding service. The steel head was excellent as well as was the fish and chips .
My wife and I had a chance to escape to enjoy each others company. We left the phones off and were seated with a lovely view of the sound. My wife commented on the seal that was cruising the tide and the sunset was spectacular. The seafood chowder is fantastic, make sure you get a bowl. The free parking offered by Saltys is packed. Fear not since there is public parking across the street for 3.50 you get 3 hours worth. I have a nice truck and the 3.50 was well worth it. I had no cars near me in a well lit lot. It is only another 50 feet of walking.
Very tasty food. I usually scarf up that Seafood Chowder, especially when they have the Seafood Bar open on the boardwalk during the summer. On our recent visit, we celebrated our 42nd anniversary. The host and table waiter wished us a happy anniversary as soon as we arrived.
My wife had the NY strip, and I had the Surf and Turf. Both steaks perfectly done.
Yesterday was the first time my husband and I came for the brunch and we were not disappointed. I had heard the brunch was highly ranked and after visiting, I understand why. The overall selection was great, the food was delicious, and our waiter was friendly and attentive. If the price point was lower, I could see us coming back more often. But we were pleased with our experience and would not have a problem visiting again.
Seemed that the service was good, just not our particular server.. we made reservations on open table a few weeks ahead of time but we were seated away from the view, although there were open tables. The food was amazing! I had the crab melt and the taste was very good!
We chose Salty's @ Redondo for three couples of longtime friends coming from both the Key Peninsula and Redmond areas to have our monthly lunch get together @ 1 PM on a Friday. We had the restaurant basically to ourselves with only two other tables occupied. Service was timely, friendly and efficient. The menu has a variety of fresh fish and seafood along with a very few meat selections. Our choices of Fish & Chips, Mac & Jacks Mussels, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Shrimp & Chips and a great flame broiled burger all were given high marks. Not the least expensive place to dine for lunch, but the food and views of the container ships passing by are worth it.
We had dinner reservations at 7:00 pm for close friends birthday, just the 4 of us. We got there at 6:40pm. We waited for 2 1/2 hours for our meal, when it finally came out the food was cold. Took 40 minutes just to get a drink. They were not busy, only had 3 other table in the dining are, we were the last out. I would not recommend this restraunt to anyone. I will never go there again. Spent $300.00 on a almost 4 hour sit down, with cold food. We had Filet Migeon, 2 lobsters, 1 order of the AK crab legs, and I don't remember what the other person had, soup, salad and drinks. Will never go there again.
I need to remember that the food at Salty’s isn’t that good. In addition to all the deep fat frying and the dreary sauces for pasta, my fish tacos were inedibly over-spiced. The waiter was good enough to take them back and try again with the jalapeño pesto on the side. Without the sauce they were bland. With a dab of the pesto they were ok. What Salty’s has going for them is the great view. I just wish the food matched it.
Amazing restaurant! I’ve been for the fourth time now and this time with my girlfriend Angela. We loved EVERYTHING! Nikkolas was awesome as well as the hostess Jordan. We have coined this restaurant as “our spot”, and will continue to patronize it as much as we can. Thanks for the incredible food, service, and atmosphere.
We have had lunch here in the past and would have rated those experiences as 4 to 5 stars. They were lucky to get a 3 star for their famed Sunday brunch. The beautiful day and excellent service got them the 3rd star. The fish was dry and cooled fast as did much of the food due to the buffet serving style. The cost far outweighed the quality. Forget Sunday brunch here. Stick to their regular meals.
Have been several times. Very disappointed with food and noise level. Salmon was VERY undercooked and vegetables (especially the potatoes) were very salty. Had to send back two salmon orders and one other fish dish. In addition the noise level was very loud!
Will likely not return.
It seems this restaurant is going through a transition....
The menu is paired down dramatically and apparently they have a new cooking team... We have eaten here for decades and typically it is a wonderful restaurant...
But our experience last night did not meet our expectations by a longshot... I hope they can get things turned around quickly!
We were at Salty’s celebrating our best friend’s engagement. We had our infant son with us. Our reservation was for 6:30pm which we were on time for. We didn’t receive water for 15 minutes, and didn’t get our first round for 30 minutes. By 7:30pm we still did not have bread, which I needed for the baby, or our appetizers which they said would be out in 6 more minutes...still no bread when those came out. We then had to ask for water refills, had to ask twice for a kids menu, but by 8pm it was too late to feed my son. The ambiance and food made up for it, but the wait staff did not acknowledge their delays even when we pointed it off out. Overall we had a great evening due to the circumstances of our celebration however we were very disappointed in our service overall.
Ambiance was really good staff and help was really good food was lacking out of three dishes two were okay something you would think of at a $12 place not 18 and $16 but service and Ambience was amazing food needs help just mediocre overall fries were delicious best thing and the bread
We come with high expectations and they always manage to exceed them. Highlights at New Years Brunch were the PERFECTLY prepared Eggs Benedict (hard to maintain runny centers in eggs when you have to present a pan-full) and the cheese blintzes (great balance of creamy-tart filling and fruity syrup over top ).
