Salty's at Redondo Beach
The food was delicious as always. The only negatives we had was the service was a little slow and our server wasn't very sociable.
Great atmosphere and great food did it for me and an attendant waiter topped it. Perfect location and friendly staff. Will be back and definitely worth recommending.
Excellent food and service.
My wife and I always enjoy our dinners there.
Great service amazing food! The desert was fantastic!
Valentine's night reservation, was seated 35 minutes late. Ordered food, chowder and coconut shrimp were good and timely, an hour after ordering, was told they were out of what we ordered, after waiter said our food would be up shortly. We got our entrees 90 minutes after being seated. Was not worth the wait, we were seated at a temporary table, seats not comfortable. We did get 2 free desserts for this miserable experience. Have been going there for over 20 years on Valentine's day, probably will not again.
Over crowded , sat by the serving station where there was constant noise of silverware being dumped into the busers station. Scallops could have been pan seared instead of grilled , and the lobster was small.
My family I dined at Salty’s for Valentine’s Day. We have been patrons for years attending brunch. Over the years it has been clear that the focus is more about overall revenue and and quality. They pack in as many people as possible and it is difficult to get in and out of the seating. Everyone is so close that you can’t have an intimate conversation or even not smell the people next to you. We had smokers next to us. In addition we had to wait 30 min for our reservation and the server had such a large area to cover that conversation was not an option.
In regards to food quality, our favorite was the bread which you are charged for. The 5 oz steaks were so overcooked and dry it was difficult to chew. That is a sad statement since it was a filet. I had a lobster tail that was simply put, rubbery and very fishy. The 4oz salmon was also dry and masked with an over abundance of sauce and basaltic reduction. We had 1 appetizer, two non alcoholic drinks, four entrees and the bill was $242. Sad to say last night was the last of our tradition.
The food seemed sparse for the price… My husband and I each had the crab Louie which could’ve used more condiments on it ...it seem to lack an avocado or something ....it was pretty dry for the money. The waiter was kind and attentive & the deserts were great.
My wife and I went to Salty's on Redondo for Valentines Day. I ordered the whole lobster dinner, it had a small amount of meat for the size of the lobster and I definitely thought it was over priced at $90 for the meal in general. My wife had the filet mignon with jojo's, the mignon was tender and flavorful however there was so much oil on the plate the broccolini was soaked in it. Both of our dinners were fair at best. Also the wait time despite having reservations was long and meals took even longer. We understand it was a busy night due to Valentines. Our waiter on the other hand was great!
We celebrated a birthday here on Valentines Day so it was busier than normal and a bit louder too. The waitstaff was really hustling to keep up with all of the orders. Our server was Tristan and he took good care of us.
We always enjoy Salty’s. It’s one of our favorite places for a special occasion. Of, and did I mention their signature white chocolate celebration cake? Nice finish!!
We've been to Salty's at Redondo Beach in the past many times. We chose Salty's mainly because it was closest to where we live for a Valentine's Day lunch. However, our last visit was years ago. During this visit we found the following: The overall impression was that it is pretentious. The butter for bread was too salty, oil for dipping bread in was oddly spiced, salad was served in dishes which were prone to tipping while attempting to stab a piece of salad, the clam chowder was also too salty, the price of the Seafood Pasta dish was way overpriced, and even though we were sitting across from each other at a small table we could barely hear each other talk at times. Being non-smokers, we suspect one of the food preparers must be a smoker who is less sensitive to salty tastes. The steak was superb, but the lobster was a bit chewy. If we didn't have a $50 gift card to defray the cost, I would have felt ripped off by the bill which was over $120 even after being deducted from it.
I eat there several times a year, and am always satisfied....
I would not recommend Salty's at Redondo because my wife and I had the prime rib on Sunday and it was tough, the wine that was advertised on the website was not available. The only good part was our server named Kyle who did the best he could to make our night better.
I was there for the $30 prime rib. I wanted medium rare. I got well done. The mashed potatoes were ok but multiple places have higher quality at a lower price. The cross between asperigas and brockly was very tough and not good. There is no flexibility in this offer and anything added was too expensive.
Enjoyed the Prime Rib! It should be on the menu all the time!
What a disappointment to take out of town friends to Saltys and have the food be mediocre. This saddens me because it was our favorite place. I hope it can recover but we won’t be eating there any time soon.
I'm unable to eat cream sauce and cannot tolerate chili's. There was very little option for seafood I could eat. Very disappointing. Also I think out main dish was under the lights too long. Either that or the greens were very over cooked.
You have to pay for bread if you want it now. That's crazy.
The waiter was very nice but didn't come around much. We asked for pepper but he didn't come back with it.
When deciding where to take my boyfriend for his birthday dinner celebration, he told me he wanted to go some place that served Dungeness crab, so I chose Salty’s. We used to live in West Seattle and frequented the Salty’s on Alki. This location had a bit more casual feel (guests attire, couple with 2 small children), but the ambience in general was very nice. The staff was really helpful and the service was great. They had decorated our table with confetti and a birthday card from the staff, and brought him a delicious piece of cake with a birthday candle after we finished dinner. We had the manila clams as an appetiser, and even though they were good, they had A LOT of onions in the sauce and we could barely taste any garlic. My boyfriend had the steelhead stuffed with crab, served with lemon herb risotto and covered with a delicious bernaise sauce. It was excellent. I don’t eat much, so ordered 2 grilled sea scallops and the lemon herb risotto. The scallops were grilled perfectly and were great, but the risotto was quite bland. However, I asked my waiter (Horacio) if he could have the chef add some bernaise sauce on top, which he gladly did. That did the trick!
Disappointing experience. Seated at 6:00, done at 9:00. Waiter visited every 30 minutes. The food quality has taken a dive. Not the good-old-days anymore. They need to revisit their service approach and take a hard look at the menu. Red Lobster has them beat, top to bottom.
Salty's always has great food, although we were disappointed when our favorite hot seafood salad was missing from the menu. Our food was delicious, our waitress was very attentive and our visit was good from start to finish. Even the sun made an appearance while we were there.
Awesome special of oysters and champagne. My date was impressed. She was VERY appreciative. 🥰
I haven’t been to this restaurant for years. Like over 30 years! I don’t think they have changed a thing. We were seated immediately which was nice. The waiter showed up soon after we sat down and that was pretty much the end of the good experience. The meal took forever to get. Both steaks were over cooked. Just not a $42 steak place anymore. Very underwhelming. We won’t be back unfortunately.
Really friendly waitstaff, quick service, anything we needed was attended to swiftly. The food was outstanding, and the raspberry cake was to die for.
A birthday celebration that would have only been better had the sun been out
Thank you for your review Mike! We are so glad that the celebration was a success!
My three friends and I had lunch together on ML. King Day. We had a wonderful and delicious lunch at the window seat we requested ( one friend has very limited vision), a very kind and attentive server, and scrumptious desserts. It made for a wonderful get together and holiday celebration. We have been to the Redondo Salty's multiple times, and they have always been the best get togethers. Highly recommend!
We are happy you had a good Holiday and enjoyed your time! We look forward to seeing you next time, thank you for your review!
Sunday brunch - terrible service and very rude manager!
Will not return
Amazing brunch. Love all the seafood, chocolate fountain and Bloody Mary bar! Our favorite place for brunch and to tKe family & friends
Thank you for your wonderful review Crystal, we take pride in our brunch and are so happy you enjoyed it. Can't wait to see you again!
Service was slow. Spent a lot of time editing. Food was poor but expensive. Asked to sit by window but was seated be road even though there were several tables open by the window. Very disappointing experience.
Vacuuming while we were eating. Just no.
Largest Lobster tail I have seen outside of Maine. It was spectacular!
Went for their Crabby Monday special, definitely worth it! So like that they warm the crab now, first time I went it was cold crab, this time it was warmed, add a salad and a glass of wine and you are all set!
Service was lacking during the visit. Felt like either they were short staffed or the larger group tables were getting the service. Our drinks went unfurled (we had to ask) and our one special order was forgotten. Also waffles were stone cold- why aren’t you doing fresh like before? And finally, things ran out like Blintzes and were not replaced. And the prime rib was super super overdone and fatty. Definitely not a good day as per usual greatness.
our waitress was fabulous, the food was very nummy and we had a great time!!
We had reservations at 10am, but we still had to wait over 10 minutes even though half of the restaurant was empty. The biscuits for the biscuits and gravy were cold and hard. The crab was delicious and as expected messy, but they bring you nice hot wet towels to wipe your hands on. They also put warm melted butter on all the tables, so that was great! Good selection for salads, fruit and desserts. The blackened salmon was amazing. The view is also beautiful and would be wonderful in the summer. We'll definitely go back here, even though it's quite pricey.
Cold and undercooked food. Asked for it to be corrected and it still came back cold.
Great food and service.
This location is one of our favorite places for great seafood.
Made our New Years Eve reservations well (2+ weeks) in advance, verified on the site a day before and verified by phone that day. Requested a window table, (we didn’t want to be at a table in the middle of the room). Arrived 10 minutes early and were told they could seat us. Few minutes later we were offered either a middle table in the dining area or a table in the bar by a window. Not what we wanted, arguably should have waited but why? Thought we had a reservation. Opted for the bar table as we were told “it wasn’t very noisy”. Wrong. Within a few minutes, we couldn’t hear each other across the table! So, What is the point/why bother making a reservation?
We enjoy dining at this restaurant, but traditionally we’ve had or New Year’s meal at Anthony’s Home Port in Des Moines, (never had an issue with the reservation) We will be going back to Anthony’s for future NY suppers.
New Year’s Eve with our best friends...a lovely dinner in every way!
