    Almost Perfect. 9.9/10. One of the best seafood meals we’ve ever had. Service from Tyrene was excellent. Only slight gripe was that it felt a little rushed, would’ve appreciated a little more time between courses, just to savour them.

    Mary. James River, peach tree, salty kiss, sea side salts, sewansescott, shooting point, ragging island and laughing king OYSTERS My kids love raw oysters. Charbroiled oysters were yummy too. Excellent brunch the chicken biscuit had authentic made buttery biscuits. Crab cake with hash browns superb. Warm welcoming staff. Ambiance marvelous.

    Wonderful dining experience! Although I have dined at Saltine multiple times, the establishment never disappoints. The wait staff and manager were responsive to my concern about the initial entree and immediately suggested an alternative which was delicious. The seafood and service are always top-notch.

    This was our second time at Saltine as a family - my son has been here many times. While we always love the food, we struggle with the service. Our waiter was lovely but just seemed lost. Our salads were brought out with our entrees. When the salad we received was incorrect, it was returned to the kitchen and then brought out almost at the end of our meal. We were only asked if we wanted additional drinks well into our dinner so we were sitting finishing them after we had signed our check. We were never asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. Ultimately, this impacted our enjoyment of the meal but also his tip because we would have spent more money! He was kind and very sweet and will make a great server. He just needs to learn the tricks of the trade. Hopefully Saltine will give him some training. Otherwise, the food was solid as usual. I also had a fantastic mocktail (Paloma).

    Great service. Fish cooked to perfection and I am always afraid to order fish out because many times not completely cooked. This Monkfish was perfect. Server attentive and knowledgeable. Will definitely return.

    The service and atmosphere in the dining room was amazing-thank yiu, Noah! It was a perfect place to take out of town guests for fresh seafood, but as someone who only enjoys it on occasion it would have been nice to have a few options with poultry, pork or beef. The Baked Alaska would have been better without the rum; way too strong.

    We ordered two different types of martinis, along with oysters. The dinks took a long time to arrive and the oysters even longer. One the drinks arrived, we ordered our dinner with a salad. The oysters arrived follows immediately by the salad. On the second round of drinks, the same martini drink was made for both, and the bar runner wasn’t sure which version was made. For the type of restaurant this is, there are much better options and servers.

    First off, saltine is extremely expensive. Min $3/oyster, min order 3 oysters. Now are they good? Yes. Fresh? Yes. Worth it? Get there during Happy Hour. Lemon drop…decent. Wasn’t terribly expensive. $14 this time…got a French 75 last time and was $19…Highway robbery in my opinion. This isn’t SF or NYC. Always get the grilled bronzino, and got it again. Was just okay this time. Lots of bones this time, usually not that many. Succotash felt like mush. Was just okay this time Also, it’s WAY TOO LOUD. I dined by myself and couldn’t hear myself think.

    The server never explained the specials or the catch of the day. My clams were overcook, although the broth was delicious. My first drink, a lighthouse l, was fantastic! My second , an old fashioned, tasted watered-down- maybe it sat too long. Although disappointed, I will probably try it again.

    We’re local but somehow have missed Saltine. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The ambiance is great for date night or just taking in Downtown Norfolk. The bar is staffed with very knowledgeable bartenders who make great cocktails. We enjoyed dinner then walked around downtown a little before returning to the Saltine bar for drinks and desert. This a gem in the heart of NORFOLK!

    Charged a resort fee on bill which is crazy to us since it is a normal restaurant.

    Food was good. Service was a little lacking. We asked that we would split our salad but were served in a large bowl. When asked for two plates, our server brought two small bread plates. Our entree was served quickly after we received our salad so we felt rushed. While my cocktail drink was good, the serving size was rather small and the cost high.

    I was very excited to have dinner here after seeing it was the #1 rated spot on a couple different reviews. The baked oysters were full of broken shell, the cocktail and mocktail we had were not good and the waitress was very snoody. Our entrees were pretty good but not worth the price.

    Customer service from staff can improve - no specials communicated, several wait staff saw me waiting at host stand for several minutes and just looked at me from afar without offering to help or ask if I’ve been assisted. Food was great but for the value I’d rather go elsewhere. Party of 6 adult men and they placed us in a small booth, seating was not accommodating even with reservation.

    Mathis is one best chef’s ever. He is amazing and makes every flavor dance in your mouth. He and the rest of the staff keep us coming back. The management team is always checking in on us, making sure we are having a great time. We look forward to the next cocktail dinner!

    This was our first time at this restaurant. We loved everything from our cocktails, appetizers, dinner and service. Nicole was our waitress and she was terrific. We will definitely be back and bring others.

    Delicious food - i had the fish sandwich and my friend had the burger and we both enjoyed our meals. Our server, Peyton, was terrific, friendly, helpful, attentive, and speedy. highly recommend. We sat outside which was simply lovely!
