Mother's Day Menus & Specials
Thank you for Choosing Saltine! As Mother's Day is a day that we are in high demand, we observe a 1.5 hour time limit for all parties to allow all guests to enjoy themselves for our Brunch. We look forward to serving you!
The food was excellent! Great service
Made last minute brunch reservations and we ended up with a terrific afternoon at Saltine. They were understaffed and the manager took incredible care of us.
Saltine never disappoints!! The food is super fresh and absolutely amazing! The staff is so friendly! Last night Autumn was our server and she was awesome!
It was nice and the place was very exquisite.
Love sitting on the patio at saltines. I had the crabcake sandwich which is delicious and my partner had the rockfish special which looked beautiful and he said was very tasty. Our server, Brian, was Knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend.
I’ve been to fine dining establishments in the DC metro area, was here for business and This had to be the best food from start to finish each item we tried was perfection. Their cocktails, I had old fashions, oysters, she crab soup, walnut salad and the Alaskan crab legs. My partner had the ribeye it was also amazing. Can’t wait to have a work trip excuse to come back here and dine
Everyone, including my friend who is a gourmet cook, was very impressed with the food. The service couldn’t have been better. It was a warm afternoon so we sat outside which was very pleasant and not noisy at all.
The only downside was valet parking was not available. Hopefully when we
return, it will be resumed
Everything was good except for the chicken mojo I ordered. It was too dry to eat. The manager did take it off of the bill though.
Service was great.
Waiter brought out main course for my guest and then my appetizer. Then my food showed up after my guest was done eating.
it took a long time for us to get drinks. they weren't cocktails, just regular glasses of wine. the food was not great and was overpriced
The food was good, better before COVID. Our server basically ruined a special evening out with friends. There was an assistant who was immeasurably better and we tipped him separately. Love Saltines and hope things get better.
We went for my bday lunch. Food is typically very good. Service can be a problem and has been a problem in the past. This time the burger my husband ordered came with cold fries. We are not being picky...they were just lukewarm at best. She grabbed the fries, but by the time new fries arrived, he was done and I was almost finished with my salad. Btw, they arrived in a to-go container to ensure they would stay warm???
So we sat and ate fries. The waitress didn't seem overly apologetic. We weren't looking for a discount or free stuff, maybe just something more than indifference. The wine came out warm, but this is always a problem. If you order a white wine from the wine list, the chances are high that it will not be chilled. Ask for extra ice so you can chill quickly at the table. I will go back because generally speaking the food is great and atmosphere good. You just to be prepared to deal with the service issues...
Easter Sunday brunch was yummy! Incredible service by "Eric." He was fantastic...funny
...extremely personable & completely on top of everything! Will REQUEST him the next time we're there. Host...possibly the Manager that seated us was great as well.
Lovely setting and friendly service but possibly they were overwhelmed for an Easter brunch -- the service was a little slow and the food preparation was not up to the quality we have experienced in the past here. Most disappointing were the poached eggs which came out cold and over-cooked. Then, halfway through the meal, the loud emergency horns began blaring and continued for nearly 15 minutes. We were told that this happens often and that we should just ignore it -- maybe it's time to get maintenance involved!
Food was delicious and drinks were great. Service was very friendly and attentive. We have been here almost every time we visit Norfolk because it never disappoints.
Bartender was trash we sent the drink back twice and it still was wrong only doing brunch here nothing else
Food and service was excellent! Loved the flavor of the food and the atmosphere was very inviting. Servers were very hospitable. I will be coming back again!
The bartender Cam was AMAZING! Showed a lot of awareness and was extremely attentive to us. However the actual server took away the menu immediately after our starters making the assumption that we did not want an entree. Did not ask us if we wanted a drink. Very disappointed in our server as the bartender even had to assist us with my entree order since my initial order was under cooked grits and over cooked shrimp. Will not come back.
Had a great time. People our age are probably not used to going to hotel restaurants, although this was common practice for fine dining years ago. I would not say this is a good restaurant for a hotel. It is just a great restaurant that happens to be in a hotel. Great ambience, great food, everything I would want in a downtown venue for a great date.
We went for Happy Hour oysters as advt on Open Table. Something about Covid so no oysters. Discounted drinks not available for most well brands. Oh well, it’s not about the money. It’s about getting introduced to a restaurant we’ve not been to because we can check it out low risk, right? We had a rezzie there for dinner anyway. The server, Anne and busser were stellar. They had pride in their work and worked hard to please, which they did. We tried a broiled oysters appetizer which was stupid. The oysters (we should know better) shriveled up to nothing and were served on the half shell with melted cheese. Calamari app was ok. They did the fried banana peppers right, but everything came out super fried and crumbled before you could get it to your mouth. Caesar salad was very good. Ultimate crab cake was also very good, enough to share.
The food was very good, our waiter was very attentive, but the patron next to us was on her phone the whole time with coarse language which detracted from our experience. It was nice to have the restaurant open to the outside dining area also, even though we chose to eat inside.
Got an outdoor table at 5, which was when they opened. The day before had been windy so the table umbrellas were tipped over and still laying on the ground. There was glass shattered in random areas around where they sat us. It was clear they hadn’t attempted to clean up from the day before. Would not return.
It was way too expensive and I service was horrible
Brunch review. Food was very salty, not bad, but not particularly great. Avocado toast turned out to be a guacamole toast, pancakes and waffles were fine, but grilled cheese was cold (and salty!). bright spot was the she crab soup, but then again, with that amount of cream (and salt!), what could possibly go wrong? Place is beautiful but over decorated in nautical style, which makes it feel a bit fake like a theme restaurant like Hard Rock Cafe. $2 mimosas sound attractive but it's a very watered down mimosa: you can barely taste orange or sparkling wine.
Our server was inexperienced, not familiar with the bar and forgot to add one of our orders. But she was very polite, and no doubt will improve as she gains experience.
This is my go-to place in downtown Norfolk for a nice dinner. The food is always excellent and the ambiance was great. The service was exceptional this time in particular.
Nice location but food was a little pricey. I guess it was "normal" for a hotel restaurant. The food is good but not anything special. I would go back if friends requested to meet here but probably would not recommend. In a nutshell, Saltine is okay but nothing special.
Excellent place to eat. Great food. Great service. Fantastic ambiance.
No loud noise. Actually can have a great conversation. Highly recommend this restaurant
Great atmosphere. One of our favorite places to eat when we are in town. Love the oysters on the half shell. Great happy hour prices on drinks can’t wait until food prices return.
This was the worst experience we’ve had in some time at a restaurant and certainly not up to Saltines standard, or at least as we remembered it. We repeatedly had to speak with the manager due to very inattentive unprofessional service, long wait times for food, orders showing up incorrectly and then with no attention to correct, or not showing up at all. It was clear the server had no experience, nor did the busser who came once to rudely clear the first course and then never showed up for other courses so we cleared our own. What’s worse is despite several conversations with the manager - he never stepped in to correct nor did he ever come to the table to check on us. Saltines has always been a favorite of ours but given the current experience we recommend choosing someplace else to celebrate your special occasions with family and friends.
Food overall was great! We were a little blindsided by the price of the oysters. Quality did not match price. Their waffle are fantastic though!
We dine for dinner, the food was very good. Our choice for dinner was fresh lobster and the snapper. The ambiance is very nice and enjoyable.
Love Saltine
Very rude staff’s
Great food and great service. Would recommend to every. I had salmon and my husband had chicken. It was delicious.. we will be returning!
Great place to dine especially for entertaining business partners and clients.
We love seafood!! The food was great and for the service, very prompt!! Highly recommended.....end of story!!
Visiting from out of town. Overall it was ok. The raw oysters were great. Everything else was average.
Great food, great atmosphere combined with excellent service.
All raw and cooked fish and seafood dishes were fresh and excellent. Service friendly and efficient. Spacing is bar seating good for distance from other diners and low noise level. Host staff curt :/.
