Yummy - so happy this location now serves Saltie Girl's menu outdoors
We had a wonderful dinner here. Our server Jeff was great, and we loved everything we ordered!
Great menu and great service. Definitely the place to try oysters for the first time.
Food was outstanding. Service was poor. Sides didn’t come out at same time as main dish, requests for water weren’t filled, and server barely seemed to care even after we had to ask again about sides/water. It could have been just been our server as others seemed to be very attentive.
Overall a super disappointing experience. Hot buttered lobster roll was lovely, BUT cold lobster roll had very little flavor. Salmon belly appetizer had virtually no textural contrast and not much flavor. Salt & vinegar chips were just a BAG slapped next to the $40 lobster roll: zero stars for presentation, jeez. And my chips were literally all the brown/burned kind. My intended before-dinner cocktail didn't show up til we had about 2 bites left of our dinner, despite repeated inquires and finally telling our server (once we nearly had finished our entrees) I'd rather pass by that late point.
I didn't expect to even see this MIA drink on our tab, but it was there when we asked for our check roughly 5 minutes after the drink arrived.
Friendly but unpolished service and hit or miss food on this nearly $200 on a dinner for two = boo. :(
Every time we’re in town we consider Saltie Girl a highlight. Never disappoints!! Bought a gift card for a family member!
Excellent as always! Love being able to make reservations!!
Best restaurant on Newbury street. Love the patio and the food is awesome. Good cocktail list, and they did a nice job maintaining distance between tables. I'll definitely be back asap!
Last night was an outstanding experience at Saltie Girl!! It started from the moment that we were promptly greeted by the host who was quite friendly. Once being seated, our server, Joanna, was there right away to take care of the four of us. She was easy going, joyful, and professional. From there we had some drinks, seafood tower, and the steak tartar; the drinks were great (try the frozen espresso martini), the tower was perfect for the hot day and priced well, the steak tartar was delicious and was eaten impressively fast (we should have gotten two), and we finished off with the tuna flat bread which was my personal favorite. At one point the manager, Nate, came over and asked about our time there. He is a blast and so personable, the conversation was just one laugh after another! He is a tremendous part of the reason that this experience stood out amongst all of my previous dining experiences in Boston. I can not wait to return to this delightful gem and have another great evening! Thank you Saltie Girl!
Saltie Girl has consistently been one of my favorites, this is why we chose this for our anniversary brunch. Unfortunately I will not be back, at least until the world resumes. Our server wore his mask only covering his mouth the entire time. My husband made a gesture to him while at our table to pull up his mask which he did. But as soon as the next stop to our table, it was down again. I get it, it is hot and it sucks...I have to wear mine the entire day at my job too. I hate it. But if our safety is not a focus as a customer during this situation out in plain view...I am not convinced that proper safety practices are being followed behind the scenes.
Nice outside but hot. No seating allowed inside, so I can't say what it looked like.
Although we were told that our food would be delivered as it was made, it made for a very poor experience overall as 2 of the three of us were nearly finished with our lunch (despite trying to eat slowly) and the third person still hadn't received his hamburger. Also, the waitress was very sweet but not attentive or helpful. I truly thought twice before tipping her 15% but did so out of habit (I rarely tip below 20%) rather than for her good service. I also did not appreciate the paper placemats being blown about. Delicious food but not good service / ambience
Better than expected! Food was fresh and tasty, service was quick and attentive, everyone was happy to see customers and we left feeling loved.
It was raining when we arrived but I imagine their outdoor seating would have been pleasant to dine at. The food was good and my sister got the salad and loved it. She recommends everyone get it!
Had a wonderful lunch with a girlfriend on the patio. We enjoyed the Wellfleet oysters and delicious cocktails. The torched salmon belly and mussels were both out of this world! 10/10! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and provided great service although I am forgetting his name! 🤦♀️
We La as our server and she was tremendous! Food is amazing. Excited to see what the interior looks like once it is fully completed.
They were very careful and I felt at ease eating outside. Great food and great service!
If you love fish and seafood, this is the place to come for very fresh yummy tastes of things ranging from scall mops to oysters to lobster - raw/fresh, fried or baked. And the chocolate mousse is to die for as are the frozen drinks. Not inexpensive tho. And there was a per person charge for PPE - which I found a bit tacky, given how expensive everything is.
My wife and I ate on the Patio on Sunday night, for a peasant enough dinner. we ordered the Fried Whole Sea Bass for two with green salads and a pair of oysters and shrimp.
The waitstaff was reasonably attentive, and the noise was not bad for being on the street.
The food tasted very nice, especially the sauces for the fish. That said, the whole fish was really not enough for two people, and the serving of rice was barely enough for 1 person. We ordered a second dish of rice, which barely covered us.
The salad was pretty ordinary, but seemed fresh. It was predominantly vinegary, which was unfortunate.
Our largest complaint was the pricing. We were charged for the second dish of rice, and with the simple salads at $12 each, gosh this was expensive. Now, I know that this is the Back Bay, but even so, this seems exorbitant.
So, the experience was good, but VERY expensive.
Chris was amazing, I can’t wait to go back! The food was sooooo good!
Amazing food and drinks!
Same great food! Same great service! New location (next door at the Met) with patio seating! The best place for oysters and a lobster roll!
Great date night ambiance. Attentive service. Delicious cocktails, with a strong pour. Food presentation, flavor and freshness was great; but overpriced given the portion sizes. I get that it's fresh, well-prepared food at an upscale place on Newbury St in Boston.... but if a couple spends nearly $300 on drinks and food (incl. dessert), they shouldn't need to order a pizza later that night just to feel sated (yes, that's what happened... and yes, we are normal sized humans with normal appetites).
GET: Cocktails. Salmon Tartare. Mussels
SKIP: Oysters (good, but way overpriced). Almond Cake.
I'm glad we finally tried Saltie Girl, and it made for a nice summertime date night... but there's a lot of other options in the area that are just as good as a more reasonable price point.
Always delicious and excellent service. Never disappointed with the food and feel comfortable trying new things each time, as it is all amazing.
So good! It's nice to find aspects of life that are better in COVID times, and a visit to Saltie Girl -- with its increased outdoor space and no need to wait for hours -- is one of them! Delicious, great service, and just an all around nice evening.
Great food and terrific service. First time and can't wait to go back!
Oh my god. I love boston ONLY because Saltie Girl!
Great to get to enjoy Saltie Girls menu on the patio! Everything was delicious and the service terrific.
Absolutely over the top. From the Host to the Pastry Chef offering desserts personally, pristine dining experience. Hannah was our server and not one detail was missed. If you are looking for a reason to visit the city, Saltie Girl should be at the top of the list.
The food was easily as good as pre-pandemic. Service was amazing, and the outdoor patio is great!
Hands down, one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. You really can't go wrong with any item on the menu. I love how they have expanded and taken on the huge MET patio! So nice to be able to dine outside on lovely Newbury enjoying great food and company.
My favorite spot in Boston!
Lovely atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food! Highly recommend the warm lobster roll.
The food was delicious and plentiful but the service was mediocre. For such a beautiful setting we would have Appreciated a little more graciousness. Also they rushed us paying the check.
Granted we reserved for 8pm which is close to closing time, our meal was rushed by the waiters... who without much restraint asked us three times if we wanted another cocktail... Our expectations of fresh seafood were somewhat met, although any kind of taste was mostly absent. Our favorite dish was not seafood to our surprise, but the steak tartare. So why come to a seafood bar? We asked ourselves the same question. The last detail that made this outing memorable for the wrong reasons: being seated on a portion of the street (yes...), fenced off so cars would not drive close to diners, which is fair enough considering the circumstances (no indoor seating for pandemic reasons). However, this does seem like reopening during these times was mainly to prioritize capacity and hence profit rather than giving customers a pleasant dining experience... Overall disappointing
