The food was luke warm, the $20 mac and cheese was gummy and the chocolate cake was stale. The waitstaff were terrible at clearing the table. They put our water glasses on top of our menus and left them there all evening. They never cleaned a few pieces of food that had fallen on the table. The front-of-house manger asked how our meal was after we got our dessert (but before we got our bill). We said "mediocre" and he said "oh" then walked away?!?! Not "I'm sorry", not "What could we improve", just "Oh". This is not a professionally run Resturant. For these prices you'll get an exceptional experience (food and service) at 7th & Delores. My take: theres no way this place will be open next year.
We had dinner at the restaurant while staying at the resort, and really enjoyed our meal. Not all of the dishes hit the mark, but the outstanding items made it all worth it. The wine list was thoughtful, both by the glass and by the bottle, with a nice range between value wines and splurges. The service was attentive and friendly, the ambiance was very nice, the decor was warm and stylish, and the prices were fair.
Great experience dining here. Our server was super attentive. We got seated right before our reservation time.
GREAT meal, fun appetizer menu to share. Locals that will be back!
The food here is just so-so, and for what you get it is definitely over priced. They claim to use fresh ingredients such as tomatoes for a soup, but it definitely tasted like a canned soup base. The grits in the Shrimp and Grits meal were awful. Also, there seems to be an identity crisis on the menu, there were a lot of asian flavors, but then also rustic southern American food like the Crab Meat (which I think was also canned) Mac n' Cheese.
The staff were very friendly. Our waitress was pleasant and informative. The fish special was miso cod with broccolini, basmati rice and mushrooms. Very good.
Food was outstanding and well showcased. The chef dropped by our table during our appetizer and main meal to explain the fresh off the garden vegetables and the excellent cod he cooked for us. The food was well presented and the service was attentive. Highly recommend you try this place!
The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a peaceful vibe. Our waiter Erin was extremely welcoming, pleasant and efficient. The cocktails that we tried were delicious, as was the food. The half chicken was unbelievably moist. The grits on the shrimp and grits were so smooth and tasty. I can’t wait to go back!
Wonderful, friendly and efficient service. Delicious food and drink :) Highly recommend!
Great oysters, had smoke chicken and grilled octopus as main and both terrific.
Excellent food and service
This was our first visit and worth the 20min drive from Carmel, and Derek was a very attentive/accommodating server with helpful suggestions. The Manhattan Cocktails were very good, and the Olive bread/salted butter was simple but awesome so don't miss, and the Chicken dish is a worthy choice for a smoked flavor not found elsewhere.
Thank you for making our anniversary celebration amazing once again!
The staff was friendly and food was great. I have a serious food allergy and the chef was knowledgeable and able to make my meal all very free for me. My only complaint is I read there were ocean views but our table had none, nor were we offered one.
This is my 3rd time to Salt Wood Kitchen. We were staying at a nearby hotel, so this is why we returned.
There were 3 of us (middle aged women). We made our dinner reservation several weeks in advance. One of the ladies uses a cane. We were seated at the furthest table available from the front door next to an exit door. AND next to a table with 2 very exuberant toddlers! Several times they screamed and the table was a mess. I overheard the staff cleaning up say that this was the worst mess they've seen. 5 minutes later, they seated another family with a young child next to us.
It's too bad they chose to stick us at that table that is obviously reserved for families with small children and next to a busy exit door. Very disappointing and not very sensitive to our one member with a disability.
With the limited menu, our dishes were all outstanding. Especially the halibut. Our server was great.
Thank you for taking the time to post your recent experience at Salt Wood-Sanctuary Beach Resort. I apologize for the service lapse that you experienced and I am embarrassed by the poor impression that we left you with. Given another opportunity, I am confident that we can provide the service that you should expect at Salt Wood- Sanctuary Beach Resort. Should your future plans bring you back to Salt Wood, I would welcome the opportunity to host you. Riva Elkamand
Stayed at the Sanctuary Beach Resort for our anniversary so of course Salt Wood was a must! After dining in the restaurant the first night of our stay we were hooked! Even had it the next day for dinner and once more during our stay for lunch that we got to enjoy from our room.
The portions were great and food was amazing. This is our new favorite date night spot!
I was prepared for overpriced mediocre food because I like to keep my expectations low at a new-to-me restaurant. I was not prepared for overpriced sub-par food. Boo. The bread appetizer was oily and burnt, whatever flavor was in the huge slabs of burnt toast (that there was no dainty way to eat) was lost to the blackened edges. This did not bode well for the entrees yet to come. I had the halibut that was supposed to be accompanied by a slew of other items, mostly identifiable though so salty (I know it's 'salt wood' in the title so maybe that's the goal) the flavor was lost on me. Rallying onward. Huge caloric mistake: we ordered dessert. Boo. I had the chocolate cake. The presentation was wanting, a sad little blob of whipped cream next to a square piece of cake, like it had been cut out of a 9 x 13 pan and frosted on top. It must have been an edge piece as it had a dry crust on one side, the flavor was adequate (some choclate cakes are just brown and not chocolatey) but the frosting had this awful, plastic-like dust on top that did not melt in my mouth, it crunched. Boo. This horrible food experience had me shaking my head all the way home.
Food was ok. Service was ok. We got seated far away by the kitchen probably cuz we had children with us. Server was ok but not overly friendly.
The venue and decor are amazing! The quality of the food is excellent although the serving size is a bit on the sparse side considering the price.
Food was exceptional. The service was great. My son said he was in heaven. Needless to say we enjoyed the food. Celebrated early Father’s Day and our server gave us free ice cream.
Service was top notch! Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic.
We loved our food, we loved the atmosphere and all the wonderful servers and bartenders! 🥂 Would definitely recommend to friends!
Our dinner and service were terrific. Wonderful last meal before we had to head back to the Midwest.
Food still outstanding, prices remain quite high, the level of service was inconsistent for a restaurant of this caliber, only 4 entrees on a limited menu and they were out of one...they substituted halibut for the salmon...but we were not told that until we ordered...and I wanted salmon.
The wine we ordered was no longer available and they were out of the vodka we preferred...all understandable in these times.
Our server accidently dropped and broke a champagne flute on our table which necessitated replacing our salad which may have had glass shards in it, again understandable. My shoes and pants got splashed and while everyone profusely apologized, there was no offer to comp anything and although I mentioned it was our anniversary, no one ever acknowledged that...and that didn't sit too well with my wife.
I would expect there should be menus that are updated daily and dated for a $350 meal for 2 along with an updated wine list that reflects what is actually on hand and in stock and while there seemed to be plenty of management walking around checking tables, the wait staff seems very untrained to me and in my eyes, does not reflect or warrant the prices charged.
Fresh , delicious, savory , food ! Love this place !
Food was delicious and customer service was on point!
Innovative, unique and outstanding not to mention its magnificent location. This is not to be missed!
Great dinner. The food is interesting and very well prepared. The design of the restaurant is also interesting and the service was top notch.
Fantastic people who work here with great food. Highly recommend
Greeting, Waitress was great! Waitress even read the notes in our reservation about having an allergy to onions. The kitchen though didn’t read these notes unfortunately and put
The restaurant service was Amazing right when we walked in the host and our waiters where incredible made us feel very welcomed.
The restaurants décor is beautiful. Sadly to say the drinks and food where average. I read all the reviews which really made my hopes high but I wasn't amazed or satisfied especially the price wasn't worth it. My old fashion well lets just say not the best I've had and my steak which I ordered Medium had no sear to it so it was a little chewy. I will say their chimichurri sauce is delicious and their fries are incredible I can eat them all day :) Dessert we had was the bread pudding and it was overly sweet and the caramel sauce on top tasted burnt.
The staff was completely amazing. My 3yr old daughter got sick at the table after putting too much chocolate cake in her mouth and choked. The staff was so helpful while I frantically tried to help her clean up.
Great food, amazing and delicious great for a date.
It’s a good start. Heading back March 28th with friends!
Service was great, drinks were very good. Oysters were yummy and fresh. Steak okay. The ribs were not tender at all and not flavorful.
I love this place. The quality does not fiss
Our server Mariah was great! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. Can’t wait to visit again soon!
My husband and I celebrated our 1st anniversary at Saltwood. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive and thoughtful. It was a lovely way to start off our weekend. Thank you Saltwood for making our dining experience so lovely.
Great date location for a special someone, food was good service was great.
We actually walked out. We have eaten here 4 times in the last 6 months and every time my husband and I get seated at this small dingy table and have to ask to be moved to a table near the heat with a view. This last time, the hostess was rude and acted like she was being put off by our request. We did not feel like fighting for a decent table. We were staying at the Sanctuary Hotel at 650.00 per night and had to Door Dash Taco Bell. Even with reservations, if you are a party of 2, they seat you at these tables. I even noted one time, it was my birthday and they sat us at this table. All our reservations were at different times, 6, 6:30, 7:45 so if does not matter if they are busy and you have reservations. We don't get it.... Sad because the food is excellent.
