Salt Kitchen at Hotel LBI
The Salt Kitchen Restaurant offers coastal casual dining, serving breakfast and dinner 7 days a week. Featuring a bright open dining room with spectacular views of the bay. The dinner menu consists of local seafood, steaks, and chops.
Great food, as good as anyplace on the island, (maybe the best). Two of us ordered filets and both were thrilled. I ordered scallops and was impressed by the preparation: grilled and seasoned, on a bed of cooked greens and bacon bits, with a remarkable sauce on the side of the plate. Delicious.
The downside of SALT is that you have to sit on the outside balcony if you want any sort of atmosphere at all. The inside of the restaurant reminded me of a college cafeteria. We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful sunset to go along with a terrific meal.
The Food was delicious, and the service was good. The Nice part was after we were done eating we went down to the fire pit, to sit and finish our drinks down their. I will go back again.
I feel the menu should have more options on it.
Very accommodating with food allergies!!
Went for friends bday
Certain entrees a bit pricey
Nice looking place but a bit loud
The food was absolutely delicious and creative. We had several appetizers and all were scrumptious, especially the grilled octopus. We ordered the Branzino and were all impressed with the serving size and the taste. The salmon was also spectacular!
My only reason for not giving 5 stars was that the noise level was uncomfortable and we couldn't talk to one another without screaming in each other's ear. I'm hoping they will do something about this before next season!
We had a family and friends dinner, and it was a great choice. We ate outside and it was a beautiful evening. Our server Carly was wonderful. She explained everything so well, was gracious and patient, she does a great job. The food was excellent. Big wedge salad was my meal. We shared the spicy sausage pizza which wasn’t too spicy so we all liked it. The grilled octopus was very good , but the fleshy part could have been cooked a little more. Crab cakes and Brussels sprouts and creamy cauliflower soup were loved too. Liked the Hell or High Watermelon beer, different and good . The cosmos were small but one will do, they pack a punch. The creme brûlée’s was spectacular. And the rooftop bar has great views and a fun feel with lots of seating, walking, stargazing space plus corn hole and other games for fun. Highly recommend!!
My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary. Service was exceptional. Food was good, but portions were small. Everything was a la carte.
The food was good but the bigggg problem is that the restaurant is way too loud. Not a place to go to if you want to hear each other speak. We also had a very cocky waiter, for lack of a better term. Besides being cocky, he wasn't as attentive as he should have been.
Mathew made our night special. Sebastian was excellent. Best veal chop I’ve ever had!
Sure to return as will the friends that were with us.
Overpriced. Neither steak was cooked to requested temperature. Sides are supposed to be enough for 2 or 3 but really aren’t. Food wasn’t good - certainly not worth the prices they charge. And it’s loud. Very loud.
Friendly and efficient service. We will be back.
43rd wedding anniversary. Outstanding
Everything very good. Food quality was good. Portions a little small but adequate. Waitress was excellent
What an experience! Every need anticipated, every request met. Summer and Sebastian, our servers, were exceptional. We were initially seated in the main dining room and the acoustics were deafening. Summer, Sebastian and 3 other staff members were on it! They all worked together in finding us a table on the patio, which in my opinion should have been my first choice. Seated next to one of the waterfalls and watching the sunset made our night that much better. I could not have been more pleased. And don't get me started on the food! OMG! So. Good. Wow. We couldn't eat it fast enough! So thank you, Hotel LBI. It was a night to remember.
The food was delicious and portions were plentiful. Our waitress was excellent & all the staff were attentive. We ate outside, hence the quiet, however we did have a gnat problem due to weather & wind direction.
Crab cakes were dry with mostly filler
Calamari platter good
Food was outstanding - service was great - very friendly efficient wait person - overall a nice addition to LBI.
Downside is the noise level - and the lighting level - investing in a dimmer switch or two would certainly make a world of difference in the ambience of the place! Also quite loud - even later when not all of the tables were occupied. I can't quite imagine what the noise level would be like in season when there would be a lot more kids! Adding some soft noise absorbing surfaces to the decor would certainly help!
Downside was the service at the bar. Only two bar tenders on duty - and both ignored us for quite some time - didn't even ackowledge that were standing there waiting - would have been nice if they had acknowledged we existed and let us know they would be with us shortly.
We arrived for our reservation on time and we had to wait 15 minutes. The restaurant was so apologetic and treated us to champagne and apps for our inconvenience. It was so kind. We’ve eaten here three times and have always had a wonderful dinner. Cocktails are the roof are always a nice treat. Be sure to come early to take advantage of the roof top lounge.
Hotel LBI is beautifully decorated with a terrific restaurant and a great rooftop lounge. Our server, Emma, was outstanding as was the food, wine and the cocktails. My wife and I live in Barnegat, 10 mins away and we plan on returning to Hotel LBI many times in the future.
Food and service was excellent. We are outside on a buitiful evening and enjoyed dessert by the fire pit. Great way to celebrate our anniversary.
Food was good, but it was so loud in there that you couldn’t have a conversation with the person sitting across from you at your table.
The food was savory however; the portions were quite small.
Beautiful inside and out. The rooftop had nice views.
Beautiful venue . This was our first visit . Emma our server was delightful! She was attentive , friendly and we enjoyed her recommendations ! We will definitely return!
One of the best meals we all had on the island, and we have been here for forty years. We’ll be back.
This was my second time at the restaurant. Both times the food was excellent. The first time we sat outside and although the causeway is right there it was still very pleasant and the sunset was beautiful. This time we were not able to get a table outside, it’s first come first serve, and the main dining was very loud and made conversation difficult. I had planned to go with a large group to celebrate my 60th birthday but will have to reconsider due to the noise level.
It’s conveniently located right over the bridge as you enter LBI. Beautiful decor and excellent food. The LBI chowder and maple bacon are just a few favorites. Will be back soon. Be sure to check out the rooftop bar.
Everything was wonderful. The food the service was above and beyond. The noise is the only down side to the restaurant. It was so loud it’s impossible to have a conversation.
Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!
Food was just "ok" and priced too high. Drinks were appropriately priced and service was excellent. Sat outside and noise from road was loud but otherwise, not bad. Could only get a reservation for 5pm and they still had about half the tables empty by 6 pm. Overall ok but there are better options on the island.
Love it !!!
It’s late in the season here on LBI so we had no trouble getting a table. The menu is creative and the service was exceptional. Our bruschetta appetizer was perfectly delicious and fresh. We both had meat that had to go back for not being the right temperature. I think we should have ordered fish as people rave about the food. We found it to be just ok. The Brussels sprouts were excellent and those are hard to cook for me. The Mac and cheese side dish was also just ok and lacked flavor. The best truffle Mac and cheese is found at the Arlington just down the road.
Lovely environment but very loud. Server and hostess were wonderful. Thanks for bringing this gem to our island and for sprucing up the entrance to LBI. It is a Pearl. Thanks to Chris Vernon for adding to LBI with the commercial properties. It’s been amazing. Thank you.
Third time there with my wife this summer and this place has excellent food every time.
All meals were great . Third time here and we were seated in back portion by door to outside dining . Felt a bit removed from main dining area where we sat the first two times
Nice cocktail menu and wine list - wish the food menu was as extensive. The items that are on the menu are delicious, but there's not a wide variety and limited choices. Therefore, I couldn't dine at Salt often. My biggest complaint is the atmosphere as there are a large number of tables in one big room and it's VERY noisy. If you can sit outside, do it because then you can hear to actually have a conversation without shouting. Rooftop deck is huge and fun for sunset, but downfall is you can't get any food up there. Overall, I'd recommend it but it would be nice for them to make some improvements to my concerns above.
Very loud and good was just ok....for the price.
We had the most wonderful experience. We had 11 adults and 2 small children and everyone was very pleased with their meal.
The entire hotel is beautiful beyond words. After dinner, we explored the pool and then went to the rooftop deck for the sunrise.
We will definitely be back.
We were at the Salt Kitchen to celebrate our son’s 21st birthday. They surprised us with a free glass of Prosecco for each of us to start the meal, which was a nice touch. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. We all had seafood: my crab cakes were filled with quality crabmeat and perfectly prepared, the salmon was succulent and the scallops were the best we’ve had in a long time (perfectly cooked and sauced). The winner, however, was the halibut special which was also well-cooked with a sauce that complimented the fish perfectly. All in all, a terrific experience — a definite must-visit if you are looking for a more up-scale dining experience in LBI. They also provided us with a free dessert to cap off the meal in honor of our son. We will definitely return next time we are in LBI!
