Salt Kitchen at Hotel LBI
The Salt Kitchen Restaurant offers coastal casual dining, serving breakfast and dinner 7 days a week. Featuring a bright open dining room with spectacular views of the bay. The dinner menu consists of local seafood, steaks, and chops.
Great time. Dining area was extremely loud. Service and food were great!
The room is too noisy as are most places these days. Can someone fix this??
Otherwise, we enjoyed the evening, the service and food are worth many more visits.
Expensive but worth it. Tim is a great waiter.
Amazing food and service!!
Went for dinner for husband's b'day in October...bad weather so it was not crowded at all and
the service was excellent...my hubby said he had the best scallops he ever had in his 69 years on planet earth. My granddaughter had a delicious bucatini with shrimp and the appetizers were great as well. the only thing that prevents 5 stars was my wedge salad which was tasty but way too much dressing. All in all, a very good experience and although pricey, well worth it!
I enjoyed the entire dining experience. The service was impeccable, the food was extraordinary. I’ll recommend it to friends and look forward to returning during the “quiet season”.
The food was very good, but expensive. Service was good. Noise level was way too loud. We could not hear each other speak. I don't think I will be going back any time soon.
food good but noise level too high
Overpriced mediocre food in an upscale setting. Although the waitstaff was very attentive, they were inexperienced. The couple next to me stood up to look at the sunset and they took their filled wineglasses off the table. This restaurant would most likely be empty on a Saturday night if it wasn't for the beach location. Not terrific.
Waitress was phenomenal! Only real issue was the noise level. Restaurant wasn’t that full and yet the noise level was as if the room was packed. Overall a great dining experience.
our dinner was fantastic but the noise level is very high. Our waiter JJ was friendly, gave great review of the dishes and drinks. We will go back during the week off season and hope that the noise level is better so we can hear those we are sitting with
2nd visit. 1st time was crowded and very loud. 2nd time was not crowded therefore the noise level was low. Excellent food and service but I feel it is overpriced.
Food and service great but the place was SO loud. Almost like a cafeteria!
My favorite part of the whole evening was going to the rooftop bar while waiting for our table. Loved it! The restaurant was better than I imagined. Really a nice place to go out for dinner with spouse/date or going to the rooftop bar with friends. Definitely worth a visit.
The staff are well trained and most accommodating! Food was excellent. Noise was akin to a school cafeteria - the wait staff struggle to hear the customers and visa versa . Pricing was well above some of the best Philly restaurants - which is fine but not in that atmosphere. Every time someone on the veranda was served the entire wall shook from the staff going in and out the door. Valet service was amazing.
The dining room is incredibly noisy. It was very difficult to carry on a conversation. The server was friendly.
Our 1st visit to Salt Kitchen was for our Anniversary 9/28/19. We started with drinks on the roof deck. Fabulous Views, attentive bartenders. My husband was disappointed that the only had Miller Lite draft and it was warm. He prefers bottled.
My drinks were delicious, Blueberry Smash. For dinner we sat on the porch to see the sunset as we had requested. Beautiful view and decor, but traffic sounds were also present. Service was wonderful, our waiter Darren was attentive & knowledgeable. Our food was delicious. We had grilled octopus appetizer, Viking Village Scallops, N.Y. Strip & shared Mac & Cheese. All was delicious and well timed. The price for the NY Strip was high at $56 which only included some snap peas. Towards the end of our meal the irrigation system for the hanging plant must have kicked on and anything on that side of the table got wet, including my phone & purse.
We will definitely go back and recommend to others to check it out.
Food very good. Place looks like a diner. Cafeteria feel
The LBI hotel exceeded my expectations in ambiance and decor. Before dinner we had a drink at the rooftop bar and couldn't believe that we were actually sitting on the causeway. The view is outstanding, the service was good but the seating areas are just a must see. We then went to the restaurant which was once again decorated beautifully. The decorator should win awards because the decor is just outstanding. Our server was very attentive and the menu had some wonderful selections. Our group decided to order two sides each as we had already had drinks on the rooftop and had a small appetite. The caesar salads were tasty and the mac n cheese was delicious. Unfortunately the LBI soup was not my favorite and the fried oysters were not a hit. However, we will return and try the main courses.
The outside table was lovely. Our server was nice but had some issues with backup staff.
We went to Salt to celebrate a family birthday. We also called the day before to confirm and told the staff it was for a birthday celebration. When we arrived on Saturday evening they could not find the reservation. They explained it was a common problem with open table. Luckily they had a table for the 5 of us. One of our orders took much longer than the others. They offered the individual an additional appetizer as an apology. Service was slow but very attentive. The atmosphere is very noisy. It is very hard to have a conversation. Hopefully off season it will be less crowded and less noisy
We were greeted and seated close to the deck but inside. They have some outdoor tables, but we did not request or ask for one, since we didn't know! Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. My wife ordered the Crab Cakes and I had the Viking Scallops. We also decided to split an order of Brussels Sprouts and started with the fried calamari. The calamari was hot, crispy and came with a tapenade, aoili and a red sauce. We really liked the aoili, and the sauce wasn't bad either. We also shared a bowl of the crab bisque. It came out piping hot with huge chunks of crab. Needed a little salt, but tasty otherwise. Our entrees came out and were plated beautifully. Everything was cooked properly. The scallops were large and tender. The carrot ginger puree had a nice kick to it and went well with the arugula and scallops. The crabcakes were densely filled with crab and full of flavor. There was a saffron tarter sauce, which I was not particularly fond of. We occasionally get excited about vegetables and tonight was one of those nights. The Brussels were roasted and tossed with a bacon jam. We enjoyed the sweet and savory combination on one of our favorite vegetables.
The service was fantastic from start to finish. Our water glasses were repeatedly filled by a very hospitable gentleman and our server stayed on top of our drinks and checked back after each course was served to make sure everything was to our liking. We really enjoyed the experience and will be back!
Nice atmosphere. Good food
Wonderful evening...first time at this venue and it didn’t disappoint
Great food, as good as anyplace on the island, (maybe the best). Two of us ordered filets and both were thrilled. I ordered scallops and was impressed by the preparation: grilled and seasoned, on a bed of cooked greens and bacon bits, with a remarkable sauce on the side of the plate. Delicious.
The downside of SALT is that you have to sit on the outside balcony if you want any sort of atmosphere at all. The inside of the restaurant reminded me of a college cafeteria. We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful sunset to go along with a terrific meal.
The Food was delicious, and the service was good. The Nice part was after we were done eating we went down to the fire pit, to sit and finish our drinks down their. I will go back again.
I feel the menu should have more options on it.
Very accommodating with food allergies!!
Went for friends bday
Certain entrees a bit pricey
Nice looking place but a bit loud
The food was absolutely delicious and creative. We had several appetizers and all were scrumptious, especially the grilled octopus. We ordered the Branzino and were all impressed with the serving size and the taste. The salmon was also spectacular!
My only reason for not giving 5 stars was that the noise level was uncomfortable and we couldn't talk to one another without screaming in each other's ear. I'm hoping they will do something about this before next season!
We had a family and friends dinner, and it was a great choice. We ate outside and it was a beautiful evening. Our server Carly was wonderful. She explained everything so well, was gracious and patient, she does a great job. The food was excellent. Big wedge salad was my meal. We shared the spicy sausage pizza which wasn’t too spicy so we all liked it. The grilled octopus was very good , but the fleshy part could have been cooked a little more. Crab cakes and Brussels sprouts and creamy cauliflower soup were loved too. Liked the Hell or High Watermelon beer, different and good . The cosmos were small but one will do, they pack a punch. The creme brûlée’s was spectacular. And the rooftop bar has great views and a fun feel with lots of seating, walking, stargazing space plus corn hole and other games for fun. Highly recommend!!
My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary. Service was exceptional. Food was good, but portions were small. Everything was a la carte.
The food was good but the bigggg problem is that the restaurant is way too loud. Not a place to go to if you want to hear each other speak. We also had a very cocky waiter, for lack of a better term. Besides being cocky, he wasn't as attentive as he should have been.
Mathew made our night special. Sebastian was excellent. Best veal chop I’ve ever had!
Sure to return as will the friends that were with us.
Overpriced. Neither steak was cooked to requested temperature. Sides are supposed to be enough for 2 or 3 but really aren’t. Food wasn’t good - certainly not worth the prices they charge. And it’s loud. Very loud.
Friendly and efficient service. We will be back.
43rd wedding anniversary. Outstanding
Everything very good. Food quality was good. Portions a little small but adequate. Waitress was excellent
What an experience! Every need anticipated, every request met. Summer and Sebastian, our servers, were exceptional. We were initially seated in the main dining room and the acoustics were deafening. Summer, Sebastian and 3 other staff members were on it! They all worked together in finding us a table on the patio, which in my opinion should have been my first choice. Seated next to one of the waterfalls and watching the sunset made our night that much better. I could not have been more pleased. And don't get me started on the food! OMG! So. Good. Wow. We couldn't eat it fast enough! So thank you, Hotel LBI. It was a night to remember.
