My family likes to go to Salt Creek Grille as it is close to my house with terrific food! A great place to take visitors if one doesn't feel like cooking. Fish is always delicious with great sides. The bar is a fun spot for chatting with friends plus there is usually live music at night.
For my daughter's wedding we held her rehearsal luncheon here and also her baby shower the next year. Excellent service and good items to choose from for guests. Plus, you can bring your own cake which I like to do...yes baked by me?? No but you get the idea!
Went here with a good friend and had a nice meal. Our waiter was excellent and his wine recommendation was spot-on. On Sunday's it's 50% off bottles so that's a nice perk.
I had the beef stroganoff - it was good. My friend had a kale & quinoa salad with grilled salmon which was huge and she loved it. The bread was fresh and hot.
I had the butterscotch pudding which was very good and my friend had the sorbet which she also enjoyed.
Awesome brunch place!!! Love this place! Super casual, lovely place- 1/2 way between San Diego & LA- great food, 9$bottomless champagne- awesome craft ipa beer! Connor was an amazing host!! Great advice and perfect service! Can't ask for more! Will be back with my bestie soon!
We used to go here so much in the mid 90s and then the menu changed drastically. I just recently tried it again. It is fine. Nothing noteworthy but for happy hour or a private party on their patio I'm sure it is nice. The wait staff is very friendly. I'm probably too demanding of the menu as I like to see a chef take risks. This is just good normal food.
Requested outdoor seating due to hearing issues of one person in party...realize that can only be confirmed on arrival....UNLESS you already know that the outdoor venue is sold already for a wedding reception...could have been advised of same...but was not...and it is an EXTREMELY NOISY restaurant for those even with good hearing!
The Salmon steak stuffed with crab was quite nice and not overcooked. While the food was not particularly creative, it was well executed and good quality. Like most restaurants in the area it is informal and noisy. The sides were good except the green beans that were rather leathery.
The wait staff was attentive and helpful.
The restaurant is fairly large and has a steak house character.
The wine list has many good wines at reasonable prices.
We picked this as it was close to or hotel. Based on TA, a picture looked like it had a scenic view. The ambiance was fine, but as someone on vacation, i would have rather gone somewhere in downtown Laguna. The food was good, we shared stuffed shrimp and the ribs (which was a huge serving). While the food was good and the service outstanding, I felt like I was at a local chain restaurant.
We frequent this restaurant @ 2x/month, but will be thinking twice in the future. We waited 25 minutes for our reservation, the music from an outdoor wedding (we were inside) was so loud that we could not hear enough to have a conversation and our waitress broke the cork in our $65 bottle of wine that we brought from home and still charged the $15 corkage fee. With all that went wrong, we never heard from the manager because he was too occupied spending most of his time with one particular table that he apparently knew well. He was at their table for the majority of the time we were there. Not a good experience, however the food is always consistently good.
Our entrees were absolutely delicious, and our service was quite good. This is a consistently wonderful dining experience, however we come here much less often because of the forced parking situation. Not everyone wants to valet park. We prefer to park ourselves. What I don't understand is why they block off the entire front part of the parking lot for valet and make their customers who choose to park themselves have to walk so far? It seems like poor judgement to me for a business establishment that is supposed to be so customers oriented. Other than that, we do enjoy this restaurant.
I have now been to Salt Creek twice. Once we went for a special event and recently I went there for dinner. The food was amazing. We had a coffee encrusted New York steak with a caramel bourbon sauce and later a chocolate soufflé. Both were delish!!! Food during our brunch was also notable. I can't wait to go back.
We have booked the private room for my husband's office parties a few times. The food is always fabulous and the service excellent. Met a visiting friend for dinner the other night and sat outside. The regular indoor tables are nothing special but the outside is absolutely lovely. Cute cabana type seating on the perimeter and ambient small tables near the fire in the middle. Really enjoyed everything about it. No matter where you sit the food will be great but I definitely recommend sitting outside.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal outside on the 4th of July! We had not dined at the Grille in years and were pleasantly surprised with the menue, food and service. Our table was under one of the outdoor cabanas and with the lights, lanterns and warmers all around it was just charming. Service was spectacular and the food was wonderful! The manager made time to visit our table and chat which is always a good sign of a well run restaurant. We can not wait to return!
This was our first experience at Salt Creek Grill and we started out with (Moscow Mules) and they were delicious ! Our awesome waitress. (I believe Tiffany) suggested the flat bread with tomatoes, cheese , arugula and my husband saw the homemade chips so we got those as well. Both were fan fantastic, the homemade onion dip I could have spread over everything 😁. Now is when I wished I stopped. I ordered the BBQ chicken salad and truly it was horrible, the flavor of the dressing, the strangely added apples, feta or Gorgonzola cheese, baby greens as well as romaine .... The flavors just all tasted weird together. In their defense I'm sure all those oddly added items to a BBQ salad were listed and I stopped reading after, chicken, romaine, avocado, corn and tortilla strips ! My husband had the Steak Fritte and by the look of his empty plate her enjoyed that. Would definitely give it another go even for the appetizers and drinks as they were fabulous !
Our visit to Salt Creek was superb from the moment we walked through the door! The hostess station was pleasant and accommodating. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive from the moment she introduced herself, and throughout our entire meal. Food was excellent!! We had the NY Steak and the Baby Back Ribs. Large portions of both the main dish and the side dishes as well that came with our meals. Everything cooked as ordered and tasted delicious!! Couldn't have asked for a better meal or service! Great ambiance as well!!! This restaurant definitely puts in the extra effort to make sure their
customers are happy and comfortable.
Arrived 45 Minutes Early before Our Dinner Reservation. I checked in with the Hostess and Advised her of Our Celebrtion and we would be in the Bar.
Upon Being Seated we were set in a small both for 4. We wanted the larger nicer booth on the next level, Replied Oh that if for a Reservation! I had a Reservation, Oh but that is for a Party of 5. The booth next to that one had 3 Adults and one small Child!! Oh Someone did not show up for that party.
I have beenn coming here for a long time, was Very Upset with the Young Ladies at the Hostess Desk!

This is a great meeting (half-way!) place for friends who live north of us. We love the service and the food here and we never leave disappointed! Our meal the other evening was served by an exceptional server who treated us splendidly and we left the place full and content! Always a pleasure to dine here!
Our server was fantastic! The chips and onion dip were to die for, and they accommodated our request for veggies instead of potatoes. It was half price on the bottle of wine night too. We were told the souffle was going to take an hour because they needed to make more; however, our server came up with one in about 30 minutes! Kudos for the great customer service!
The location and ambiance of this location lures you in to what you think will be an excellent experience. The quality of food and wine we had was to be expected at a $40-$50 dinner restaurant, not well over $100.
If you want to spend the $40-$50 go to the Cheesecake Factory, it is better. If you want to spend over $100.00 go to Bayside or Harbor Grill to have food that is worth it.
They changed the recipe for their signature dish- the pork chop. Not a fan of what tasted like flavorless boiled meat and overly sweet apple sauce poured all over it. Where did the 'grill' part go? Although not crowded and good service the food was pretty mediocre.
I took my grandparents here for their anniversary, and the ambiance was very nice but the food was subpar. The calamari wasn't fully cooked so the breading fell off when barely touching it. The "garlic" bread was not garlic bread but just a regular baguette with a light smear to one side of garlic butter. My grandparents had a wonderful time which is all that matters, but the price was not compatible with the food. I also ordered something quite simple, a hamburger and asked for no mayo and to be cooked well done. It was not cooked well done and there was a plethora of mayonnaise on there. For such big prices you would think the ability to pay attention to ones order would be in effect. I would visit this restaurant again, but most likely only for appetizers and a quick drink.
I've lived in Dana Point for years and was always told that this place was overrated. It is upscale, valet parking, high price wine list... But the service was excellent, the staff accommodating, and the food was top shelf. Portions excellent (if you can eat one entire at a sitting you were really hungry). I'll be back. So will my date
