Hidden gem in Pleasanton. The food is creative and delicious. They are dog friendly with homemade dog treats and water bowls!
Food was not very warm and wait person just ok. Expected more from all the good reviews.
Fantastic flavors and textures. Original food no boxes cans or microwaves. Best food in the TriValley
I have been here twice now. The first time we had good service and a great experience -- easily 4 stars. The second visit was a little disappointing. While we were seated immediately on a Thursday night (with a reservation though it appeared we did not need one), it took about 10-12 minutes to get water -- and we were thirsty, it was a hot day! It took even longer to get our server to take our order -- maybe closer to 20 minutes, even though we were ready to order after a few minutes of arriving. (It was not our server who delivered the water, so we did not have the opportunity to order then.) That was unfortunate, since my friend really needed a glass of wine ASAP after taking 15 minutes to find parking! We ordered: lamb pastrami (I like this dish but my friend found the pastrami itself pretty bland -- he's right, but with all of the condiments I think it's a flavorful and balanced bite -- good bread, too), roasted trumpet mushrooms (very tasty but sitting in a huge pool of oil -- probably at least 1/2 cup of EVOO in this small dish -- I would have loved it with like an eighth the amount of oil), veggies with mole verde (tasty, light, balanced -- but too much potatoes, would have preferred more veg since that is the name of the dish!), and duck leg (well cooked, nice crispy skin, but we found the farro in cream sauce to be heavy/fatty so overall not a balanced dish, lacking acidity and maybe some fresh herbs). We also found both entrees to be lacking in salt ( yes, very ironic given the name of the restaurant).
Overall, I do love the outdoor seating, the fact you can bring your dog, and some of the menu items. The local wine list is nice, but I personally would like to see a couple of other wines (like a French red that would go with the food better), and the service needs to be improved.
I’ve dined at Salt Craft many times and had yet to try their famous lamb pastrami but did this time. OMG!! It was FABULOUS!! Not being a rye bread fan, I was a bit hesitant but was assured by my server that it was a must with this sandwich and she was absolutely right. That rye bread is something very special. Every time I visit, I’m planning in my head my next visit. The food, the service, the atmosphere is very very special and unlike any other restaurant in the area. Be sure to make reservations as they are often full with a wait. Love you Salt Craft!!
It’s a unique place outside seating only but tents if the weather is cold
Food was very good but the wine pours were very skimpy for the price
The food was outstanding. I had the porchetta on a bean base. The pork was perfectly cooked with crust made from pork belly, and the bean combination matched it nicely. Bread is a standout, but be aware they charge for it, but it's priced reasonably. The spaghetti uses porchetta end bits with a nicely spiced sauce. It's not a secret, but all the seating is outdoors. It was a warm evening so the sun was more an issue than the temperature. Staff is very aware and manage a herd of umbrellas to keep folks comfortable. It's not an expansive menu, but it had enough variety to satisfy. Local wines and beers are featured. A bit pricey overall, but a good meal.
Great place and great service! Meals are well thought out and always good!
The wait staff was rigid about our ordering...order. Given the way the place is presented on their website one would think the staff might be more welcoming and accommodating. To be clear, we just wanted to be able to order our drinks and our food at the same time. Their response was quite surprising. My eggs were relatively bland and everyone else very much enjoyed their food.
The evening at salt craft was fine — food was nice and the service was fine.
The menu is very creat
Great place for lunch! Food is excellent. Love the local wine and beer selections.
My favorite restaurant in Pleasanton
Had a delicious meal on the outdoor patio. Our server was excellent. Ordered some of their home-baked breads with our meal. Fell in love with the levain. Bought a loaf and enjoyed it for breakfast toasted with jam. Will definitely eat here again.
So underwhelming! The salads, the mimosas and service were all so bland.
Great for brunch
Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the chicken with buttermilk and the flavors were great. The chicken breast was a bit dry but rest of the food was yummy. Because of the outdoor dining only it is pretty noisy, so as long as you know it is not intimate dining before you go you won’t be surprised. The wine list is only Livermore wines, again don’t go with expectations. Overall good meal.
Needed a complimentary dessert for birthday girl. Shouldn’t be charge for bread basket.
Appetizers and pasta were delicious. Got the porchetta and as I've had this at other places it didnt live up to what I was hoping so wouldn't get this again but definitely get a pasta.
Greta food as always. Favorite place in Pleasanton
Food was delicious! Great brunch and unique menu items.
A great find in Pleasanton. All outdoor seating with plenty of shade. It was a perfect day with light breeze. Food was VERY innovative ...cudos to the Chef. We were there for lunch and spent a better part of the afternoon just talking. We were never made to feel rushed. All the staff was so cheerful but didn't hover. Definitely will return.
This place is a gem in downtown Pleasanton. The food is always tasty and service amazing
Wonderful meal, beautiful setting, unfortunately there is construction going on right next door so a lot of loud noise and dust but not to the fault of the restaurant. Every item we ordered was delicious!
A nice new place for me. Outside eating is the best. Their menu is not extensive but high quality and a good price.
There were two long black hairs in my vegetables. One of the kitchen cooks had long black hair that was not contained in a hair net. On this basis alone I would never go back. The food was overpriced for what you get. The salad supposedly had a citrus vinaigrette but there was not even a hint of citrus flavor. The dessert was three underbaked cookies, which could have even been from a mix. Very disappointing.
Excellent fresh food combined with subtlety. Very tasty enjoyed by our teenagers as much as by us. Very friendly helpful staff.
Loyal customers- our favorite restaurant in the tri-valley area
SC is excellent at what they do, just understand the menu is both limited and somewhat eclectic so look before you go. Service is great, they have some of the best servers in P-town working there. Appetizers are delightful, totally worth doing. Overall, first rate ingredients and preparation is the name of the game here. Wine selection is local, but thoughtful. Definitely earns a place in the rotation.
Had a business diner on day with great weather. I was concerned about outside only seating.
The atmosphere was great with good service and very good food.
The story of the lamb pastrami, the hand made pasta and locally sourced ingredients made for a great experience.
The weak spot is the coffee. They just have drip coffee that is ok but a let down from the quality of the meal. They explained they don’t have room for an expression machine. If they would at least offer single pour Japanese style coffee it would be an improvement.
I did go back the next day for lunch with colleagues. It was really nice, we will go again.
There were six of us, and no one was raving about their lunch. The salad was good, but not excellent, for the price. I perhaps went with too high of expectations. When a pay a chunk of money for a meal, I always hope it's better than what I make at home. I just didn't see that at Salt Craft. I also left hungry...not a good thing. The outdoor seating was pleasant but my own backyard is much more scenic. So, overall, it was just fair.
Pretty much everything is delicious. Salads have bland dressing, however.
Outstanding quality of food and service makes Salt Craft a must visit. It's located in the quaint downtown of Pleasanton and although it's totally outdoor dining, it was warm and comfortable on a rainy and chilly day. Tables are nicely placed and seating very comfortable. We look forward to our next visit there.
Not a huge fan. Ordered a salad that had zero flavor. Probably better in Summer, as all seating is outdoors.
Salt Craft is a fantastic restaurant. It’s the kind of place we’re excited to enjoy before it catches on and becomes a mob scene. Unique dishes. Great service. Their breakfast menu is our favorite.
This is a cute setting and excellent service. The food offerings are excellent sometimes and a little strange other times that we have been there. I had the scrambled eggs with asparagus and mushrooms and it was bland and bitter . My husband had the hash and it was excellent.
Took our mom and good friends for Mother’s Day and had a lovely time. Everyone loved the cinnamon rolls and the variety of unique entrees. Service was excellently always, and we didn’t feel rushed at all even tho they were having second seatings due to the holiday.
Delicious! Cute patio. Wonderful fresh, homemade items.
Neighborhood Restaurant - felt like we were having dinner in San Francisco with the perfect ambiance for outside dining! We both had the house salad with the cara cara dressing, and each ordered a pasta dish: shell, duck bacon pasta, and the slow-cooked pork), which we highly recommend trying, and a nice selection of wines.
Amazing food as always
