We love Salt & Iron and have been many times, but this last visit was exceptional. We've had spotty service occasionally in the past, but Chris, our server this time, was great, as was everyone else in the restaurant. We had a 2 year old and a newborn with us, and they were not made to feel like an imposition but rather treated so well, which I always appreciate. Plus it was loud enough that I didn't feel like they were being disruptive! And the 2 year old's food came out early!

The food was all delicious too, I had the half chicken that was cooked so well that I realized how poorly I cook chicken at home, and the farro with that was amazing. My husband finished his steak, which never happens, and was raving about the mushrooms. We shared the pear and fig salad, also delicious. Drinks were fabulous too, both wine and cocktails. Seriously one of the better meals we've had in awhile.

Food was outstanding, as usual, and the service was perfect...with no fuss, quiet and friendly. This will continue to be our go to spot for brunch, lunch and dinner. I am always intrigued by the new items on the menu and the presentation is always spot on.

We have visited on numerous occasions. We have experienced excellent food and service. We particularly enjoy the Eggs Benedict for brunch. Wish you were open nor brunch weekdays.

I was able to get a reservation 30 minutes before opening via Open Table. We were sat right away. Food was great we had the Chicken Fried Duck and Biscuits and Gravy. Mimosa had a great ratio of juice to champagne. Service was fine but not overly friendly, maybe she was still sleepy since it was 9 am.

I went here for a birthday celebration and it was the first time I'd been there, excellent service, excellent food!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be recommending it to my friends and I will be back on a regular basis!!! Thank you so much Salt an Iron for being so wonderful!!

The food is good, the service is poor. On this visit part of the dining room was freezing, we had to ask to be re-seated. There is literally one toilet for the entire restaurant. Our waiter seemed annoyed by my asking for "no toast" with my meal and kept assuring me I ought to take it. The coffee was very weak, and refreshed just once. Our bill was incorrect. Not sure I'll return after several better visits here.

First time at S&I...quite impressed. The menu mixed northwest (Taylor Shellfish) with traditional meat dishes. There were also more eclectic item preparations that looked like a reason to go back!

Great venue and food. Our server was very informative about oysters and wine on the menu. We were surprised with a lovely dessert to celebrate our 15th Anniversary. Highly recommend!

FOOD--This was my second visit to S & I in 2 years. It is one of my brother's favorite places to try Scallops and Pork Tenderloin so I treated him on his birthday. He ordered the Octopus appetizer but it was a hodgepodge of a dish with overcooked octopus! As usual, he did enjoyed his Scallops entree. I decided to try the Fried Oysters for appetizer. Unfortunately, the batter was nontraditional, thick and tasteless! For entree, I ordered the Halibut ($36) with porcini crusted · tomato risotto · asparagus · zucchini · grana padano · lemon herb relish. The dish was very bland & the beautiful piece of Halibut was dry & tasteless! The complementary birthday dessert (listed at $9.50) was a Mocha Sponge Cake with Raspberry Sauce. It was a nice touch but very average tasting and not silky smooth.
In retrospect, I probably should have tried the Hanger Steak recommended by our waiter!
SERVICE--Our young waiter was courteous but forgetful! He also seemed overwhelmed by having to manage 3-4 tables at the same time.

The food was great, but pretty pricey. Our main gripe was that the service was suuuper slow. Starting with the drinks, until trying to get the bill, it felt like our server would disappear for quite some time. They also charged us for something we didn't order which took away from service as well. Very cute on the inside, so great ambiance.

CHAD is the best!! He always gives the best service AND he remembered me from previous visits. Food is always impressive and well thought. We even had coffee with our dessert and it was amazing! Will be buying beans from that company soon

This is why we walked out of this restaurant without eating:
I made a reservation for our anniversary for 2 people at Salt & Iron in Edmonds WA for 5:30 p.m. on 9/2/18. Given the anniversary, on the reservation we specifically asked not to be seated in the same room as the bar and suggested on the reservation an alternate preferred location. We arrived at 5:31 p.m. The hostess + another employee were hunched over their tablet pc for serveral minutes without acknowleging us/looking at us. We were the only ones to arrive in these minutes. The hostess then moved to seat us by the bar. We explained to her that we had specifically asked not to be seated in the bar room and the table on the railing -- where a metal railing seperates one's table from the bar proved why we made the request. We passed the area we had requested and noted that, although we were an early seating and had specifically suggested those tables, they had already been given away. She seated us at another inferior table. We were a bit shocked - in a mostly empty restaurant. We moved to another table and as we did so, I signaled to the other employee standing at reception as to what we were doing. This was followed by a long lull during which the hostess and our probable server caucused behind the curtain. After being in the restaurant for over 15 minutes and the server still not having shown to take beverage orders, we decided our money and anniversary dinner was best given to someone else. The restaurant's poor front door management explains our decision not to stay. I explained all of this face to face with the hostess and the other employee when we left. I removed the "favorite" label from Salt & Iron. There are lots of other restaurants. I prefer to go to places that have people who understand hospitality.

We came for brunch. The corn beef hash and eggs was wonderful as were the oyster benedict and the crab benedict. But the biggest treat were the raw oysters. Highly recommended.

Disappointed with our experience here. Server greeted us & asked for drink orders. We didn't see the drink menu until then so needed a minute to read it. Server didn't come back for 15 minutes, then asked if we were ready to order drinks & meals. Same thing happened with dessert. Filets were excellent, scallops were overcooked & chewy, dessert was mediocre. When making the reservation & confirming I was asked if we were celebrating any occasion. I said we were there for my dad's 70th birthday both times. No mention was made of it. Why bother asking repeatedly if you aren't going to do anything?

The salad was great but the rest of the food was mediocre. All of the roasted vegetables were over roasted, the grits were not flavored, and while the sorbet was excellent the chocolate, caramel, blackberry dessert sounded much better than it tasted.

We got the wrong bill but luckily it was another family member’s. We paid his bill but it was about 20% higher than ours would have been.

Another excellent evening at Salt & Iron, which was packed on a Tuesday night! Lively atmosphere as always, excellent food and wine ditto. My wife and I both had the mixed green salad, well above most restaurants' offerings with an unusual and tasty vinaigrette over a refreshing mix of greens with varied flavors and textures. Definitely a cut above most restaurants' offerings. We both had the hangar steak, with risotto and asparagus as sides; everything was perfectly prepared, and very tasty. A glass of Paul Ryan syrah was excellent, and a perfect match for the steak. Service throughout was warm and attentive. It's not a quiet, romantic spot, but it is an outstanding place to eat.
