Salsa Puerto Rican and Latin Cuisine
Salsa is proud to be the first authentic Puerto Rican restaurant in Nashville. We believe you will love our farm to table inspired menu with fresh local ingredients and the touch of deeply rooted Latin flavor. Our chef brings his knowledge from the culinary capital of the Caribbean and delivers it right to your table.
You will love our cozy, modern, great atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and an extensive list of wine, spirits and beer.
We can’t wait to share our Latin flavor cuisine with you. See you soon.
Birthday party with salsa lesson. What a pleasant surprise!
Great Latin food...everyday price. Definitely not a wallet breaker. Good value and very nice service.
Ordered Arroz con Pollo here and the rice was really salty and the chicken had no flavor at all. Communicated this to the server, but he just said "okay" and disregarded my complaint.
Fantastic spot! We made reservations for a group of 11. The restaurant does not have a lot of seats, but it feels very spacious and light. The food was fantastic and so flavorful. The service was just right and our server was very helpful with menu suggestions Great experience!! Thank you!
We love Latin and Caribbean food, and were excited to discover this restaurant. The food however was overly salted. And for someone like me on a salt restricted diet I had the choice of either bucking up and dealing with the consequences, or passing on the food altogether. I landed in between, which was disappointing because it all tasted so good. The desserts sampler was excellent.
Excellent food and great ambiance. We will definitely be back!
Great food. Will definitely be back.
Loud and underwhelming
Was great food our second time there both times service was good. Very pleased.
Food was good. The host and waiter was very nice. Food was a little too expensive for what it is and the location. Nothing wow about how food is prepared or served. Overall good normal puertorricam food.
Overall, the food was terrific. It did take a little over 45 minutes to get our appetizer and we weren't told that they didn't have all of the appetizer until after 30 minutes of waiting. We had to substitute due to them being out of the appetizer. Our server was attentive for the most part, but never did address the lengthy wait time. Definitely do not be in a hurry if you go.
Wonderful evening, nice quaint atmosphere.
Our experience was perfect. Food was great, customer service was amazing. 6pm res. Was a perfect time to celebrate my hubbys birthday. ❤
We enjoyed trying authentic Puerto Rican food, and the explanation of the various menu items.
My Puerto Rican mother-in-law passed away a few years ago, and though I've made some of her recipes, we've really missed her homestyle PR cooking. So it was wonderful to discover the excellent Latin cuisine at Salsa. We ordered three appetizers, the "trip through Puerto Rico" entree (to share), and three sides. All were excellent. Portions were perfectly sized and dishes served hot. Service, while incredibly friendly, was on the slow side, and the restaurant was half-empty (we were there at 6:30 on a Saturday night). It seemed it was the kitchen that was slow, as the dishes, when they came out, were hot. But with the delicious mojitos and fun Latin music, we were fine with the slow-paced evening. We'll definitely be back!
I’m originally from Puerto Rico and was excited to have some food from my culture for my birthday with my family. The food was absolutely Delicious, not 100% authentic Puerto Rican, but mostly was and it was delicious . I had “Chillo” which is Red Snapper that was deep fried and served whole with a side of Mofongo. The meal took me back home.
Side note: It was not on the menu and they only serve it in limited quantities and in season.
Nonetheless, no complaints. I do wish they would have had more choices in Croquetas and Empanadillas. They only had a “Chick Pea” Croqueta over the traditional ham or chicken Croquetas. The Empanadillas themselves were a little under-stuffed.
Besides my slight critiques, all the food was delicious and my family and I had a great time.
Small establishment. Small menue makes it easy to choose. Food was good and well portioned. Service was great.
Love the idea and the food!
During a conference at the J.W. Marriott, we gathered up a group from around the country for dinner and were delighted to find this within walking distance. We had a delightful evening and a great meal.
Food was so so. I would not revisit.
Ridiculously small portions
We spent our honeymoon in Puerto Rico & Salsa brought us back to that time. The Mofongo tasted just as we remembered, the appetizer & dessert samplers were also awesome. It was very quiet, no wait. The outside of the building & the immediate surroundings definitely don’t lure you in. However, once you’re inside it’s clean & nicely decorated & comfortable.
There are so many amazing restaurants to chose from in Nashville - and this trip I wanted “comfort” food. Though not my native food, after two visits to Puerto Rico I’ve become a huge fan. But, where to get “authentic” Puerto Rican food? HERE! And even if you are not familiar with the culinarily delights of our island neighbors to the south, the staff at Salsa Puerto Rico will helpfully guide you around the menu. You can’t go wrong with Mofongo, Tostones and Empanadillas, and Pastelon.
The only reason why we tried this restaurant was we had a gift card and had it for almost a year so figured we would try it before it expired . To star off with the establishment is extremely small inside but they have a nice out door seating area which we were not offered but I am pretty sure because there was only one server for the entire restaurant. We started with the Puerto rican sampler the best thing we ate was this (all fried ) I am not a fan of anything fried but we ordered anyways. For entrees we ordered skirt steak and mofongo and I ordered salmon and mixed vegetables. Lets start with the skirt steak it was shredded and did not look like steak at all and the mofongo was super dry and tasteless, now the salmon on the other hand was horrible there was absolutely no flavor to it and was bland I had to ask for hot sauce to mask the fishiness of it and I love fish, the vegetables were covered in I am thinking butter sauce but I am not sure. Bottom line the food was not good the service was extremely slow but the waitress was nice so it was tolerable. We will not be going back, also the portions that they give you are extremely small so if you go in hungry expect to leave hungry
Food and ambiance was very nice. . I great hidden gem.
Meh...empanadas were really good, but everything else was sonewhat bland...like they didn’t trust people coming to a Puerto Rican restaurant would really like Puerto Rican food.
We were visiting Nashville and on our last night we decided to do something a bit different. So we gave this place a try. Although I've had better Puerto Rican food. The food was still better than some places I've been to. Everything was pretty good that we had except the service was only 4 out of 5 stars.
I've been here a few times and, although Salsa is fun, has fantastic live Latin music (especially when Marcela Pinilla is there) and has delicious and authentic food, the only knock on it is that it seems to take a little long for the food to be served. So, if you're not in a hurry and just want to chill and listen to some wonderful music, then this won't be a problem at all. And the good news is that when the food does reach the table, it's very good. I'll continue to visit this restaurant and will bring others with me!
Authentically delicious Puerto Rican food surrounded by warm, friendly staff and patrons. Live music and dance add to an amazing evening experience!!
Great food at good price!
This is where you want to get your Latin fix.
If you're Hispanic you won't be impressed by the food and chances are you could probably make it better.
Restaurant located in area of town surrounded by construction and not a very nice area, along with truly being out of the way. Food was not good, no flavor, poorly prepared and bland. Service was poor they never came by to see if everything was ok until we asked for a check. Ambiance did not make you feel that you were in restaurant, let along a Puerto Rican restaurant. Prices were expensive and the chef should take lessons on how to prepare Pernil. Very disappointed.
Good get-together with our large family. Glad they could accommodate us. The band that was playing was amazing!
Very, very slow service with avg food. We were there at 6:15 and didn’t get our food until after 7pm...and we were the only customers there until we left.
Great atmosphere. Music was great too!!
Tuna tasted metallic, mufungo was dry, pork was good
Excellent in every regard. I recommend highly and plan to return.
What a hidden gem! The food is authentic and fantastic. Highly recommend.
Made me feel right at home. Puertorrican food always packs a punch on your palate. The flavors and the seasonings are incomparable.
