About Sal's Little Italy
Since 1977, Sal's Little Italy has been the premier NYC Little Italy pizzeria and Southern Italian comfort food restaurant.
Sal's Little Italy remains same family owned/operated by the Triolo family and is well-known for the famous fried calzone, classic Neapolitan NYC pizzas and family recipe comfort food specialities such as chicken marsala, and pasta e fagioli.
By 2012, Sal's Little Italy popularity grew, and Sal's moved to an expanded location at the corner of Broome & Mulberry Streets. The current location is an expanded upfront pizzeria separate from a 60 seat dining room, set in a casual exposed brick interior.
The Triolo brothers are proud, Sal's Little Italy remains one of the few Little Italy restaurants still Italian family owned/operated. Stop by and you are guaranteed to find at one of the three brothers in the pizzeria or the main dining room.

You'll feel like one of the family at Sal's Little Italy. The service was fast and friendly and the food was delicious and exactly what we were hoping for...an authentic NY slice of pizza heaven. We will go back when we are next in the NY area. Highly recommend the Tutti Le Carni pizza.
I had the chicken penne vodka and it's arguably one of my favorite meals I have ever had. The complementary bread is also amazing. The staff was welcoming and lively. Keep in mind that once you have paid, you're expected to leave due to the high demand. They want to be able to seat everyone.
We came here because it was on open table.... Don't be fooled!!!! This has zero ambiance that you would expect visiting little Italy!!! There was a loud tv blasting entertainment news, poor service and decent food. The calzones were good, as you'd expect.... But nothing mind blowing, don't find yourself trapped here, walk down mulberry to places with better food and ambiance
We had great service. Out waitress was really busy but she worked hard to get us everything we needed and she was very personable.
The food was great! I had the fried calzone which was wonderful. Everyone cleaned their plate and enjoyed their food.
We picked this place because we thought it was authentic and we weren't disappointed!
Looking forward to old school Italian and picked Sal's. The service was great but the food was lacking. The fried calamari was frozen and really chewy. We were there on a Friday and they were out if out first 3 wine choices. My fettuccini Alfredo was really good but the added chicken was dry and seemed like it was left over from another night. 2 out of 4 of our party would return.
Solid, classic NY pizza and my favorite guilty pleasure - Sal's fried calzone. The calzones are humungeous and very good. Okay, it's almost fried pizza, but it is worth the calories. The Italian comfortfood items like chicken parm is very good. If you are looking for a no-frills place then Sal's is it.
The BEST Italian food I've ever had. Seriously. The calamari was so tender it tasted like scallops. The Pizza was amazing. The fried calzone WAS TO DIE FOR! You have to taste this. The pasta was soooooo good. The cannolis were as good as everything that came before - just perfect. I mean it. You HAVE to try this place.
The first sentence the waitress said was " what's wrong with you people? There are all empty tables there and you picked the only one 'reserved'?!". I reserved a table so how do I know? Then before we left she came "book a table for 3, n 2 came, n only one ate, what can I say?" well, what can I say?
We dined on the sidewalk at Sal's in Little Italy. There was a group of family or friends next to us having an animated conversation in Italian. It was entertaining and completed the feeling of authenticity. The food was wonderful, and the service was very attentive.
Sal's has been around forever and been consistent through the years. No-frills with good food.
Not only do we like popping by for the fantastic fried calzone (not many places authentically fry the calzones..... but they do....ad we can vouch it is worth the calories), but also for an entree of good homemade, basic Italian food -- particularly the chicken marsala (my favorite.) Even though it is not the biggest restaurant in the neighborhood, we have still come to the restaurant with a large group for lunch and dinner. Pizzas are really good -- and rival most pizza places in the area, including Lombardi's. Seriously, the calzones are really that good....
We wanted a restaurant in little Italy that had authentic Italian so we booked on open table. When we arrived we were hesitant to enter the restaurant but when we did we were taken through what appeared to be the kitchen to a table in a small unappealing room. As we walked through we saw Barilla Boxed Pasta. We immediately decided to leave.
Not a good experience We expected a nice romantic restaurant and we got a old outdated fast food pizzeria wich looks like had no renovatons sincev1950
With a absolutly non inviting vibe after opentable reviews looked a 5 star restaurant wich in fact is a.2 star at best
very very very disapointing and the pasta were the worst pasta we ever had Bed bed bed
Sal's sons have keep the tradition of friendly hospitality. Our party of ten family members had lost a new stuffed toy on the subway and a "Good Samaritan" took it to Sal's where they had heard we were having dinner! What a surprise! The owner encouraged our youngest grandsons to finish their two huge meatballs which they did! It was a fun loving experience and everyone's plates were emptied.
Sal's was a great find! I bring my art students to NYC from Virginia every Spring and love being able to book a large table. The owner and wait staff were extremely accommodating and so friendly. Our food was delicious (especially the Bruschetta)and timely so that we could get out and see more of the Big Apple! Thanks Sal's!
On my visit to Sal"s the food was just ok. In my case the meatballs were dry and the sausage was over cooked. The chicken parm was just ok. I don't think I will come back because thier are many other option in this are which are better as a repeat experience
When we were greeted at the door, we were told that there was a $25 minimum per adult because it was Saturday night and we were a party of 12 (of course this is not mentioned in any information on Open Table). Needless to say that set the tone for the dinner. The food was good, but nothing special. Next time we will try to find a more authentic, warmer restaurant in Little Italy to spend our money at. If you just want pizza, this place is fine.
Good little spot, was confusing at first when we walked in, thought it was more of a "slice of pizza" place, but there was adequate seating in the back. Was slow for a Saturday night, and our food was ordered and ready in great time.
My girlfriend ordered penne vodka, and I ordered the pizza, of course. The pizza was your traditional pizza pie, thin crust, slightly burnt. I thought I was getting the more traditional chucks of mozzarella, sauce, etc. but instead it was a regular pie. The penne vodka was great, very saucy and flavorful.
Their wine selection was more geared towards bottle vs. glass, but not that big of a deal.
We spent $40 with tip, which included 2 glasses of red, the 10" pie, and the penne vodka. Great meal, great
