Sal's Little Italy
Sal's Little Italy remains same family owned/operated by the Triolo family and is well-known for the famous fried calzone, classic Neapolitan NYC pizzas and family recipe comfort food specialities such as chicken marsala, and pasta e fagioli.
By 2012, Sal's Little Italy popularity grew, and Sal's moved to an expanded location at the corner of Broome & Mulberry Streets. The current location is an expanded upfront pizzeria separate from a 60 seat dining room, set in a casual exposed brick interior.
The Triolo brothers are proud, Sal's Little Italy remains one of the few Little Italy restaurants still Italian family owned/operated. Stop by and you are guaranteed to find at one of the three brothers in the pizzeria or the main dining room.

Food was delicious and the server was a delight. She was very helpful to us out of towners.
Food was excellent. Grilled shrimp delicious. Caesar salad delicious. Pesto sauce perfect. House burgundy also worthwhile. Will definitely go back.
Must stop pizza and calzone in Little Italy! Will return for sure!
“Doesn’t take Opentable reservations” they also couldn’t/ wouldn’t accommodate us
Disappointed in our experience at this restaurant. I took my niece and nephew so they could experience “little Italy” sinning. I received my mushroom pizza (with canned mushrooms; not fresh) 15 mins before they received their entrees. My niece politely asked for parmesan and the waitress brought it but quickly took it away before she was done with it. Much too pricey for service and food quality. Would not recommend it.
Friendly environment and honest Italian cuisine
The quality of the food was superb, one of our group ordered pizza and thought it was fantastic, the Pasta Fagioli soup was hearty and good although a little under seasoned, But after some salt and pepper excellent, the Italian Sausage amd Brocolli Rab was superb, as was the Linguini with White Clam Sauce. Only real let down was the Calamari which was bland and underwhelming. It was under Seasoned, and not particulqrly crispy. I would order a pizza as an app instead. Incedently my daughter; who hates everything, loved the Manicotti. Overall great spot. Ill be back next trip to NYC.
Loved all the pizzas and salads Bread was a wonderful starter. Server was fun and accommodating
Would go back. Calzone was excellent
There were very good options and the food is amazing. The bread used I'd very fresh. That's something I loved the most.
The calzones were hardly filled with any cheese. What a ripoff! My family has been eating at Sal’s for 30 years and the deep fried calzones were always the thing we looked forward to the most. When the calzones came out, they were flat. What am I paying $12 for? A piece of deep fried dough?
This is not the first time this happened. I visited with my brothers and sister about two months ago and the calzones were just as pathetic. This is the last time my family and I will be visiting Sal’s. On top of the disappointing calzones, the wait staff added a $30 gratuity. Where was the service? She brought over 6 beers and 8 barely filled calzones. This was not a 5 course meal. SAD!
Loved our server. The tv was on (with no volume). Radio was blasting with commercials, which was annoying.
Lights were too bright.
so so good!
Nicht zu empfehlen: Touristenabzocke.
Our waitress was charming, inviting, and helpful. The ambiance is cozy and comfortable. We all loved the pizza and calzones especially.
The place is amazing. It's simple as. Good custom. Great food. You don't need anything else.
Although we’d made a reservation there seemed to be some question about whether we could be seated. Within five minutes we were all settled and by the end of the evening had enjoyed fried calamari, fried zucchini, pizza, pasta, chicken francese, sausages with broccoli rabe, and chicken parm. First rate. Friendly service.
I live in Brooklyn and am culturally Italian. Just middling food. Service was very friendly. I wanted somewhere in Little Italy that isn't a tourist trap. Not bad.
We were on our first trip to NYC and wanted to find a special place to eat dinner, the food and service here were wonderful! One of the best choices we made all week!
Decent pizza. Not bad by any means but better and cheaper options in the area
My friends & I gathered together to celebrate my birthday at this family owned restaurant. Max one of the owners greeted us upon arrival and checked in on us throughout the meal. We were a large group and the waitress was very accomodating and helped with food suggestions. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, from pizza to pasta to chicken entrees. Go to Sal's for an authentic Italian meal.
The most delicious fried calzone! Seriously yummy. The sauces were excellent as well.
You'll feel like one of the family at Sal's Little Italy. The service was fast and friendly and the food was delicious and exactly what we were hoping for...an authentic NY slice of pizza heaven. We will go back when we are next in the NY area. Highly recommend the Tutti Le Carni pizza.
This was a touristy restaurant - pizza was fair- calamari undercooked - wine list uninspired- would not return-
I had the chicken penne vodka and it's arguably one of my favorite meals I have ever had. The complementary bread is also amazing. The staff was welcoming and lively. Keep in mind that once you have paid, you're expected to leave due to the high demand. They want to be able to seat everyone.
We came here because it was on open table.... Don't be fooled!!!! This has zero ambiance that you would expect visiting little Italy!!! There was a loud tv blasting entertainment news, poor service and decent food. The calzones were good, as you'd expect.... But nothing mind blowing, don't find yourself trapped here, walk down mulberry to places with better food and ambiance
Waitress was very unfriendly and very indifferent. Food was very expensive (much more than shown on OpenTable) and not good at all. We'll certainly never come back.
Good location, great service and friendly staff. Food was great. We had a big group and had pizza, pasta, steak and seafood. All was great!
Good traditional Italian food. Go for the spaghetti and meatballs. Enjoy the local color and characters.
Our waitress was very nice and helpful with the menu. Attentive too. Food was good, hearty and hit the spot!
We had great service. Out waitress was really busy but she worked hard to get us everything we needed and she was very personable.
The food was great! I had the fried calzone which was wonderful. Everyone cleaned their plate and enjoyed their food.
We picked this place because we thought it was authentic and we weren't disappointed!
Service lacking take it or leave it attitude. Bread ughhh. Wine not impressive. Took reservations. Pasta good.
The food is good value for money, very tasty. Whilst in NY we tried several restaurants and this was the best value.
Looking forward to old school Italian and picked Sal's. The service was great but the food was lacking. The fried calamari was frozen and really chewy. We were there on a Friday and they were out if out first 3 wine choices. My fettuccini Alfredo was really good but the added chicken was dry and seemed like it was left over from another night. 2 out of 4 of our party would return.
Solid, classic NY pizza and my favorite guilty pleasure - Sal's fried calzone. The calzones are humungeous and very good. Okay, it's almost fried pizza, but it is worth the calories. The Italian comfortfood items like chicken parm is very good. If you are looking for a no-frills place then Sal's is it.
Blanked by waitress when we were the only customers. She sat behind us on whatsapp all night. Wine was the only positive.
The BEST Italian food I've ever had. Seriously. The calamari was so tender it tasted like scallops. The Pizza was amazing. The fried calzone WAS TO DIE FOR! You have to taste this. The pasta was soooooo good. The cannolis were as good as everything that came before - just perfect. I mean it. You HAVE to try this place.
Best lasagna ever. Every family member happy. Great service.
The first sentence the waitress said was " what's wrong with you people? There are all empty tables there and you picked the only one 'reserved'?!". I reserved a table so how do I know? Then before we left she came "book a table for 3, n 2 came, n only one ate, what can I say?" well, what can I say?
We dined on the sidewalk at Sal's in Little Italy. There was a group of family or friends next to us having an animated conversation in Italian. It was entertaining and completed the feeling of authenticity. The food was wonderful, and the service was very attentive.
First time there, pizza is good... Calzone is huge and delicious.. Very causal dinning
