Our only criticism of this otherwise marvelous restaurant is that the waiter was a little too in our face, giving us a little too much information. But the food is superb.
Amazing food, incredible selections and service beyond compare! Truly a Dallas favorite.
We’ve recently relocated to Dallas from ‘up north’ in Prosper. Sallio Bistro is our favorite dining spot hands down. The name is derived from the verb ‘to salt’ as each dish is accompanied by a flavored salt to enhance it. It’s truly a charming little family owned neighborhood bistro with delicious food and an expert staff. We’ve found the true mark of a good restaurant is when the owner is hands on. Not only is Karen, the owner and Louisiana native, always there but many of her family members work there as well making it a true family business. Her daughter, Aubrey, was our waitperson and provided us wonderful details on every aspect of the menus as well as her personal favorites. She was an absolute delight! My biggest dilemma was deciding what to order. My favorite appetizer is the ahi tuna tartare but we also had tempura Brussels Sprouts (to die for) and meatballs which were also wonderful. We shared the watermelon caprese served on a frozen Himalayan salt block ... delightful! I had the diver scallops, my husband and another friend had the blacked redfish, and the other guest had a wagyu beef tenderloin and all were delicious. We topped off the marvelous meal with house made baklava and a dark chocolate flourless cake. I highly recommend Sallio Bistro for an unforgettable meal.
Great service. Especially loved our server Aubrey Lynn. She is wonderful. The entire staff was great with the children in our party.
Sallio Bistro is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is delicious. The way the chef combines flavors is amazing. The service is friendly & very attentive. I totally love this place!!!!
The food and service were 5 star. The only negative was the table. It was a tiny table squeezed into a corner. The table behind us was never seated so there was no reason to squeeze us into the corner. While our waiter was excellent, the waiter serving the table next to us that was occupied, was oblivious to us. We had to avoid his backside from hitting us in the face while we were eating. He couldn’t serve his table on the opposite side (away from our space) due to the proximity of the next group. The restaurant needs to consider the comfort of its patrons when deciding where to place them. Had the restaurant been 100% occupied, then, seating us at this table may have been necessary. Since it wasn’t, the restaurant should have made other arrangements or should have instructed the waiter (not ours) to be considerate when occupying our space. Otherwise, the restaurant deserves 5 stars. Thank you.
This was an encredable dinning experience! The food was fabulous and so was the service. We have the watermelon salad and it was out of this world !
This is my group's second trip to Sallio Bistro. They are so accommodating to the customer (remember when customer was always right? They live it. Our excellent server was very clear on that. I wanted spinach instead of carrots with my meal ..no problem. The French onion soup...goodness I could have eaten only that and watermelon caprese and the old vine zinfandel that we had. Even though this restaurant is about 12 miles from me, I plan to come on occasion.. it wasn't too loud as many restaurants are. We were able to talk very to our party of 7.
My wife and I are regulars here and always leave satisfied. My wife had the trout almondine and I had the branzini fish special. Both were fanatastic with a bottle of Pinot Gris. It was especially busy on Friday night and a little louder than normal, but no complaints. We had a great meal and a nice date night.
The food we all had was delicious. The Watermelon caprese salad was unique and wonderful. My husband and I split the mixed grill and all the meats were very tasty. The restaurant was crowded and the service was a little slower than we have experienced in the past.
Great swordfish! Hard to find these days.
A VERY welcoming restaurant with an impressively varied menu. Chalkboard specials round out the choices of flavorful entrees. A large dining room tastefully decorated might get noisy when full. We both enjoyed seafood entrees which were fresh and tastefully prepared. Overall, a wonderful first visit worth repeating!
Restaurant was full and had a couple of very large groups which degraded service. Actually, service was first rate when they could get to us and, luckily, we had great company with which to visit. Food was outstanding with many choices.
The service is great. The kitchen is willing to change the dish to accommodate food allergies, which is really important for our family. The Heart to Heart salad with Shrimp was fabulous. Husband raves about the French onion soup. Friends with us loved their selections too. This is truly a neighborhood gem!
excellent food, service and atmosphere. Strongly recommended
Great place tucked into a strip mall. People are so nice and the food is one of the best out there!
We've been to Sallio on several occasions and we've always had a great experience. The menu is always interesting and good values and we love the ambiance. It can get a little noisy with a full house, but it has never really bothered us. Service is always outstanding and service folks very knowledgeable. Wine pricing is very good!
the onion soup and caprese salad were outstanding as was the pork tenderloin. The specials board was heavy on seafood so would have liked more variety. Service ended up outstanding but started out rocky. Everyone pitches in but good to know who will make sure it all happens. The waiter we eventually latched onto (oldest child) was super knowledgeable and responsive. We have brought lots of different friends here and its always excellent and easy to linger and enjoy the wine, food and friends.
This is a great “neighborhood” restaurant with an excellent menu!! The bussells appetizer is unbelievable! Service is fantastic, small place with a great “feel”.
Great experience for all! We celebrated our daughter’s graduation and had a great time. Great food, great service and a great experience.
I've always enjoyed Sallio, This time the Brussel Sprouts were overly salty. The waitress said they do not use salt and it must have been the Parmesan. Just was a bit disappointed this time. Will go back for sure.
It was really cold. They need a partition by the door to block the cold air every time the door is opened.
This is a true neighborhood gem. The food is always fabulous and the service is great. We feel like we are visiting family when we go there. It's consistently 5 star in all things
Sorry to say this was not a good visit. Took some friends to Sallio, which we have been to
many times, and it was a disappointing evening. It appeared there has been a change of menu,
and prices have escalated. Drinks were not good. and our brussel tempura was all tempura. Our friend's
pasta was not hot, my salmon was small and runny, and the trout was bland. I don't know if there has been a change in the chef or what. The bar was empty (Saturday), and no entertainment, which has been
a real plus in the past. It will be a while before/if we come back.
We've been to Sallio Bistro a few times and will go back. Food is reliable; service is usually good. We've been there when it's been very noisy; however, the last time it was not. The only thing that puzzles me consistently about the restaurant is that they seem to want to differentiate themselves on their use of various 'gourmet' salts and how these different salts are meant to accent different dishes. It seems a little gimmicky to me; plus, since the food is always well-seasoned, we are not apt to want to add one of the few seasonings that is not healthy.
Other than this small gripe, we do like the restaurant.
Only issue was slow service to order dinner. Drinks were fine but we were looking for server to order for 5-10 mins.
Food was very good and we heard to talk at a table for 6.
Fabulous Meal and great service!!
Sallio is a rare find in Dallas. A family-run bistro - an actual bistro, not an faux attempt at one - that has a laser-like focus on ensuring your experience with them is comfortable and comforting.
Six of us dined Sun night (half price wine night).
Tuna tartare may be best ever. And fried brussels sprout leaves excellent too.
We live nearby so this is becoming our neighborhood go to spot.
Liver and onions excellent (and hard to find). Trout Almandine also very good.
A group of us dine monthly and we like to talk. This restaurant is quiet enough (at least 6-8) that we could carry on a conversation. Emily was a great server and the owner paid us a visit. The caprese salad was presented on a salt block. There are multiple flavored salts as a feature of the restaurant. I had shrimp and pasta that I split with another person. It was excellent. We will go again
Amazing food!!! The flavored salts are a wonderful surprise and addition to the already delicious food!!
As always, food was excellent, service superb and it was a totally enjoyable evening. We are so fortunate to have this lovely bistro in the neighborhood! Kevin and Aubrey were great as always. It's a pleasure to dine at Sallio's.
The food is delicious. The portions are generous. The service is warm and friendly. Nice place to eat a great meal.
Best neighborhood place ever! Great for all occasions. Appetizers are fabulous. I love the trout & my husband said the short ribs were great. All are offered with salt pairings - even vanilla salt for the ice cream.
Delicious food!! WONDERFUL service!!!! She even let us hang out and chat after they had closed for lunch! Didn't realize they closed at 2:00 and reopened later for dinner. Our extremely polite waitperson made no fuss about our lingering! We apologized for our ignorance!! ;-) THANK YOU, Sallio! We will certainly be back soon!
Our favorite, it's our "neighborhood gem" but should be destination dining. Specials are so good we rarely get to the main menu which is also excellent. Someone really knows how to cook fish here, it's almost moist, tender and just peels off the skin. Service is gracious, attentive and not intrusive. Highly recommend Sallio Bistro, thanks, great job!!!
Sallio Bistro is a Great neighborhood joint to go relax and reconnect with the ones you love!!!!
This was our second visit to Sallio Bistro and I think it will become a regular dining spot for us. The food never disappoints and the suggested flavored salts that accompany each dish take it to another level. We started with the ahi tuna crudo and calimari which are absolutely delicious. I had a shrimp pasta and my husband had the clams appetizer with pasta that was added at their suggestion ... delicious. Our friends split a generous mixed grill that was one of the daily specials. For dessert, we splurged on a gorgeous baklava with Henry's pistachio ice cream. Next time I'm hoping to catch them spinning the sugar web that crowns the dessert. You have to see it to appreciate it. All in all, a lovely dining experience that I highly recommend.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us such a considerate review. I'm so glad to see your party was able to take advantage of the ability to customise your experience while visiting us and look forward to ensuring you get to check out the hand spinning of the sugar crown next time you're in. Our open kitchen is there for that experience precisely. We look forward to seeing you again next time.
Amazing food, delicious salt pairings, knowledgeable & attentive service, willingness to customize anything & everything. Love this place!
Sue, I'm ellated you had such a positive experience playing with our salts and menu to make your experience truly your own. We look forward to having you back to try out a few more of our new infusions.
