Salena's Mexican Restaurant
Got to restaurant for 5:30 reservation at 5:25. Seated at 5:40. Drinks offered at 5:50. Waiter refused to take our order with drinks. Were given permission to order at 6:05. Food brought out at 6:35. Waiter was kind enough to bring check and to go box right when our food was delivered as asked. Love this place but this has been common the last couple times we have eaten here. Won't return in near future.
Had a group of 12 for lunch after my daughter’s graduation. Everyone loved it! Chips and salsa, meals, and atmosphere were all perfect. Thank you for making it a nice celebration for my daughter!
The service was very poor. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks. I had to ask for our drinks again after we were eating our appetizer. We will likely take a break from Salinas for some time.
Very nice server. The main problem with this restaurant are the chips and salsa. Yuck, yuck, yuck. We've been here three times and every time they serve these cardboard chips and tasteless salsa. The entrees everyone ordered were, however, tasty. I just don't know why they can't get the iconic C&S correct.
Not our favorite place, but it was available and the service was very nice. I would recommend to a friend mostly to see if they felt the same way we did.
Great time - wonderful tacos and good margaritas!
The restaurant was very crowded but we had a reservation and seated after 5 minutes.
Our waiter, Renaldo was amiable, attentive and did not rush us.
Nice to see one of Rochester's restaurants rocking on a Saturday night.
Great food and customer service. Would absolutely return.
Don’t bother to make a reservation they won’t honor it!!! We made a reservation two weeks ahead of time for a show in Rochester, when we got there we we given a 35 min wait. The hostess didn’t seem to think there was anything wrong with the fact that we had to wait despite the reservation. She proceeded to seat two parties ahead of us. When I asked to speak to the manager she very unprofessionally walked around the restaurant complaining about the situation. After 15 mins of waiting I asked once more to speak with the manager who asked what he could do to fix it?!? I told him that we had made a reservation so that we could enjoy our dinner and after waiting we would now have to rush. They did seat us next, pay for a drink and app and put our order on the fly. Our waitress was great and the food was good. Overall the restaurant would have gotten 5 stars but they ruined the beginning of our evening making us rush through a dinner that was supposed to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Super frustrating!
A tip to the restaurant: The hostess may need training on professionalism and how to manage seating tables while also anticipating reservations.
I will ALWAYS recommend Salena's. Last time I was there a fellow patron had a medical emergency. She was at the table next to me and several of us jumped into action. The staff was calm and responsive. The manager came over after and bought my table of 8 dinner to thank us for helping out. Salena's is a class act! Great food, great atmosphere, GREAT margaritas and most of all, EXCELLENT staff.
Salena's was a lively and fun dining experience. The food is not gourmet Mexican, but it was delicious!
The décor is bright and eclectic with a Mexican flair. The bar sits at the end of the restaurant and was very loud, which does affect the dining room. The only issue we had was that I made a reservation a 10 days ahead, but was seated at table next to the kitchen doors and was constantly being bump by the waitstaff as they passed by. I am sure people just off the street were given better tables.
Really good food! Loved the loaded burrito!!
It was busy but not crazy. We waited almost 20 minutes for our server to show up. She apologized but still - that’s a long time.
I’m hooked! Food was amazing and service was too. Authentic Mexican food with an expansive menu. Highly recommend. Noisy sure. But food is well worth it. The drunken shrimp tacos are outstanding but the beef nachos were the best thing we ate!
Loved the ambiance. Food was great. But our waiter, Josh, was amazing. So friendly! He was great. I will definitely go back and request him to be our server!
We went to Salena’s before going to RBTL; everything was perfect!!! The food was, as always, delicious and the margaritas were amazing!!! Our server was on point100%!!!
This was my first time using the open table reservation and I was so pleased!
When we arrived, the table was set and ready, and there were few other tables filled. Paula was our server, and she was terrific! We were able to enjoy our food and conversation and still get over to the Auditorium Theater with plenty of time prior to the HAMILTON show.
There was a waiting line and every table at the restaurant was full as we were headed out, which was anticipated, and the purpose for using the open table reservation. Thanks for the ease of using the system, the great service, and excellent food as always!
Always satisfied and pleased with Salena's; the service, ambience, and food all good stuff!
A lot of choices, waitress was very helpful, service was quick but not rushed so we were done in plenty of time for our theater tickets. Good mojito. Waitress adjust easily to the need to stagger taking the orders because one of our party was delayed. Have been there before, will go again. Stuffed avocado entry was very good and very filling.
Salsa was bland, took forever to get our drinks and even longer to get our food. Stuffed avocado, a signature dish according to the menu was just ok. Chicken was tough and cheese on top of the dish congealed. Seemed like it sat under the warmer and continued to bake waiting to be served.
My fiancé’s dish was better, steak fajitas but no big wow. Beer selection was pretty limited.
This was a second chance for the restaurant, the first experience was much worse. But, two strikes and we are done. We would not return and do not recommend this restaurant. There are so many other places to go with better food and service.
Came with a group of 10 for a "bachelorette" celebration on Taco Tuesday. More than anything, we had a great experience because Maggie, our server, was fantastic. Super accommodating to our group, friendly, present, you name it. The food was good and it was a good place to celebrate. I'd go back again!
I never had a bad experience at Salena's. I enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the vibe, very much.
Food was excellent. Service was great. All of the employees are always upbeat.
We had a great evening but I didn’t realize that Taco Tuesday was only at the bar... disappointing
Very disappointed with the waitress. We had to ask another waitress for drinks refills.
Food was delicious ! Our waiter was inattentive - would’ve liked another drink but didn’t get one because he never came back to ask.
Seated promptly and recognized our booth request. Our server was very pleasant and took good care of us.
Beer was tasty and served to the brim, chips and salsa delicious.
We all ordered the chicken fajita.....plenty of chicken...rice ...beans and cheese....quite a pleasant surprise as most places skimp on those portions. Would have liked a few more peppers and onions. Very tasty and would definitely order again.
It was a great night out although it is noisy but still a fun place.
Server Maggie was outstanding!
45 min wait for table of 6. Food unimpressive for price
Using OpenTable was super easy and Salena’s took care of our special requests for a high chair and a discrete birthday wish and flan for our shy teen. Our server was excellent and brought out multiple amusements for the crying toddler we had amongst our group of 13. Food came fast and accurate and tasty and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves! Their salsa, guacamole, and chips are to die for. Salena’s is our go-to restaurant for Mexican cuisine.
Bar service before sitting at our table was painfully slow. Once we were seated our service was the best! We weren’t rushed, our drinks came quickly and we had a great time celebrating 3 birthdays. I recommend the premium margaritas! Food is great. Everything delicious! I’ve been going there since the 90’s when it was Maria’s.
Our server was outstanding...very patient with our 3 young grandsons( and us!)
My husband and I brought our son here for his birthday dinner. My first time eating Mexican food. The food was delicious. Our waiter, Matthew, was very helpful in describing the different sauces for my burritos.
I would definitely return!
Service was not good. It took almost an hour to receive our food. Once it came out, the hostess mentioned the owner had burnt the food and had to re-make it. I also think it was overpriced for what we ordered. Each of us had enchiladas and a soda and our bill was $40.
Waitress was not attentive and in a rush. Was not asked how the food was or if refills were needed. Did not see her until the check came. Food was lukewarm and flavorless. The salsa that came with the chips looked and tasted like crushed tomatoes out of a can. Food quality does not match the price of it. Will not be returning nor recommending this place to anyone
Our waitress was amazing. She took good care of us, was fun and made our kids feel special.
Margarita’s were wonderful and the food was great!
Disappointed to have to wait awhile for a table with a reservation.
The service at Salena's was excellent. So were the margarita's and the food. I had the stuffed avocado and black beans - so delicious!
We showed up for a 6:00pm reservation and had to wait for a table. The chips were burnt, the queso was clumpy and tasted like velveeta and rotel, and the tostada was flavorless. Very disappointing experience.
Just so-so. Their salsa is like ketchup. Our food was extremely dull/not flavorful. Service was just ok.
