Salazar is the chef-driven restaurant from head chef Jose Salazar. This little eatery is cemented in Cincinnati's up-and-coming Over The Rhine neighborhood just steps away from Historic Music Hall. The menu changes with the seasons as Chef Salazar is constantly creating new fun and creative dishes. This is an ideal place to stop in for a quick drink or come for a full dinner in the evening.
Salazar's menu changes frequently, but there are some dishes that are so popular that the keep popping up again and again. Some of the starters that have appeared on the menu include duck leg rillette, heirloom corn polenta and chicken liver mousse. As for main dishes, some of the signature plates are the ora king salmon with "everything" crust, cream cheese dumplings, pickled Fresno chili, caperberries and dill sauce as well as the burger with aged cheddar, bacon and heirloom tomato.
It’s a 10! The food and drinks are prepared with great care and attention. The presentation was masterful. You can expect excellent service from start to finish. Definitely recommend trying this gem.
Dishes were excellent, service was outstanding. Loved the variety of wine, beer, mixed drinks, as well as the availability of non-alcoholic cocktails and beer.
5-star food and great service with a casual atmosphere.
Absolutely loved this restaurant. My best friend and I came from out of town for our Christmas gift to each other, and I couldn’t have picked a more cozy restaurant with an eclectic menu.
We had a great experience! The service, good and ambience were great. I had the crispy skin red fish, I highly recommend.
Our server Gabby was amazing. She had a lot of menu knowledge and was very personable without being overbearing. She made us feel very comfortable and made our night fun and special! Thanks gabby and thank you to the Chef as well!
This was our first time eating brunch at Salazar and it was wonderful! The Smoked Salmon Sandwich was amazing as were the brussel sprouts. The service was exceptional.
Amazing as always!!
Excellent experience and the food was amazing!!! Service was spot on too!
I love this place and the experienced wait staff (We had Gabby) always impress me. They do such a great job making sure they understand the reason for your visit, if you have a timeline and making sure food allergies don't get in the way of their spectacular food. I love that they feature a wine and offer a couple of specials and the coziness of the restaurant sets apart other places. Get reservations soon! You won't be disappointed!
Terrific food and service. You can’t find crispy pig’s ears on menus elsewhere.
We always like Salazars very much. We were disappointed that when we pointed out a problem with the salty french fries it wasn't addressed
The food was great! I will be back but it was a special night for my mom and me and our table was so cramped in walk way with so much movement on both sides and it was so loud it took away from the evening. The service and food were spectacular!
We celebrated our son’s birthday and everything was delicious. Our server was very attentive and the food was amazing!! We also loved being served on Bethany Rose handmade dishes! Thank you for a delicious dinner and lovely evening!!
The food was outstanding as always. The service was friendly and efficient with an overall lovely experience.
Everything was fabulous!
Both the food as well as the service were wonderful at this restaurant.
It was perfect!
Amazing service & food. Recommend!
I loved this place! Portion was perfect, no lumberjack meal just lovely salmon and Brussels. Knowledgeable wine server, so enjoyed great glass of wine with salmon. Crazy good dessert (which I never do) because it was such s great meal. Salazar was recommended by guy I met at Boca bar.
Awesome place can't wait to go back and try more of their cocktail menu
This place is amazing! I wish the restaurant itself were larger but the food and service was amazing!
I know great food and this is the best value I have experienced in cincinnati. Great staff and excellent food!
To small of a space no place for u bag
Food is not that great
We introduce my husbands sister and her husband to Salzar for the first time.
Brunch was outstanding. We had the crab and avocado special. One had the Goetta sausage gravy. Everything was delicious and our service was excellent.
The White Boudreaux was delicious as was the Crémant.
Bloody Mary’s had some serious heat to them three quarters of the way through. Tasty but a tad hot. I recommend a small beer chaser served along side of your Bloody Mary!
The grilled bread and brussel sprouts were delicious.squash pasta also very good
Overall good experience. A bit noisy, but good food and service.
We’ve been to Salazar for dinner several times, and always have enjoyed our experience. Friends from D.C. were in town for U.C.’s Homecoming and asked us to recommend a restaurant for brunch. We gave them several places to research and they selected Salazar, much to our delight. Our reserved table was occupied when we arrived (come on people! It’s a small place. When you’re finished don’t sit around and chat), and the staff apologized profusely. Upon being seated we were comped two delicious appetizers. Our friends were impressed not only with the service, but with the food and prices. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience.
There are not good options for celiacs for brunch. There were two options, both over $20 and were mostly eggs. I had to make several requests for the waitress to ask questions of the kitchen. I also had to ask for sweetener for my coffee three times. All potatoes are contaminated in a deep frier. I asked if there was any way potatoes could be made without contact with gluten and was told they were unwilling to make their potatoes in any other way.
I was very surprised since another restaurant owned by this group, Mita’s, bends over backwards to have lots of gluten free options and make accommodations. I’ve had greasy spoons willing to make food in a way so that I could eat it and didn’t anticipate their unwillingness to provide more options since they have a good reputation.
I chose to leave rather than pay for overpriced eggs. If you cannot consume gluten I encourage you avoid this restaurant. I understand that not every restaurant can accommodate dietary needs, just as I hope it’s understood that a failure to provide the services needed may result in loss of business.
Salazar always delivers! It's a favorite of my husband and me. We took my brother here for his birthday Saturday. Started with the crispy Brussels sprouts and breads--delicious and enough to share amongst the three of us. I has the crispy-skin redfish with curry, and it was phenomenal! Brother had the duck since duck is one of his favorites and he said it was excellent--server recommended medium-rare which was perfect. Husband had the chicken and really enjoyed it. We loved all the food. Alex the bartender makes the.best.cosmos. ever! Husband and I had been in last month before Blink and Alex was telling us how they make their own "triple-sec" (orange liqueur) that goes into them and he likes to garnish with an orange twist instead of the traditional lime. We have come to love these and no other cosmopolitans compare now!
Service was phenomenal! This staff is killing it both on the plates and in conversation. Highly recommend.
Wonderful evening...creative and delicious food, perfect service...price for food was on point. Thank you Salazar for a most enjoyable evening!
