A little expensive, but very tasty
Good service and nice interior
One of my very favorite restaurants in the area. I know when I plan a night at Salar, it won't disappoint.
From greeting to leaving, consistent great service. The food is always spot on. Perfect seasoning, creative dishes and nice presentation abound. And, the cocktails are fun and tasty.
On top of everything else, the ambiance is perfect for girl's night, date or solo dinner.
We went to Salar for my sister’s birthday. Maggie (bartender/server) was fantastic as usual! The food was great, the cocktails were amazing, and the ambiance top notch! Thanks Salar for another great evening!
I strongly recommend the cebiche and chicken soup they are delicious 😋. If you want to try a cocktail you should try pisco cocktails they are amazing.
Came here to celebrate my Boyfriend’s birthday and it was well worth the drive from Miami University of Oxford. Our server,Jen was absolutely amazing! Boyfriend got the duck ravioli, I ordered the lamb shank and they were both phenomenal. Had pana cotta and espresso to finish. The food, wine, ambiance, service, everything was great.
Salar is the best restaurant in Ohio. Period.
Cassie, our server is amazing along with the food and drinks. We love Salar. It’s our favorite place on earth.
Enjoyed a great evening out. The food and drinks were outstanding and service was attentive and approachable. Love coming to Salar.
Salar is my favorite restaurant on Dayton. The food and service are always top notch. I highly recommend it for a nice date night.
Went for a two year anniversary dinner, reservation on a Saturday at 5 pm. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant was relatively empty which I prefer when I go out to dine. Our server (the bartender), was knowledgeable, polite and courteous in guiding us through the menu as it was our first time there. Eventually we chose a salad, entrees and a few cocktails - all of which were unique and excellent. It is a touch pricey, but the flavors are unique, the portions are perfectly sized, and I felt it was more than worth it. I have verbally recommended to friends to check it out - but I do understand that some of the flavors may be outside the normal range.
Ultimately, I think Salar just does it right.
We always love the service and dining at salar. It’s consistent and high quality. The drinks are awesome.
Great experience and service from our waiter Matt!
Food was bland and duck was over cooked. Chicken breading was burnt. Pasta dry. Being a serious foodie and chef myself I was very disappointed. Perhaps food is better when restaurant is busy? That makes no sense. Bill was nearly $200 for three people. Sad 50th birthday dinner. I would have been much happier going to any sit down chain restaurant instead.
Absolutely amazing. Staff could not have been more accommodating and the food is by far the most eclectic in downtown Dayton. I HIGHLY recommend the baked jumbo scallop in the shell appetizer topped with parm and lemon. Flavors are out of this world.
Mahi dish was to die for. Great wine and craft cocktail selection as well. Will be back very soon. In fact, I want to go back tonight!
We loved the craft drinks and our server! He made excellent recommendations and we loved the appetizers we choose. However, when we received our meal, my Husbands plate had a long black hair rimming the bowl and he had lost his appetite. They brought him out a new one, and he boxed it up. We never saw a manager and the only compensation we had was a half off appetizer for our next visit. We were not satisfied with this outcome and wish they would have comped our $28 meal for the inconvenience.
Update since my first post: The Manager called me and apologized for not making it out to my table and felt really bad. She sent me a gift card to take care of our next experience and to make up for it. It was very much appreciated and we look forward to heading back there soon!
So disappointed. Salar is my favorite place. We’ve been at least once a month since they opened back up in June.
Last night we had our choice of sitting up by the front door (which was constantly banging) or in the back, smashed into a table with 5’ tall dividers set 3’ apart and draped in Halloween decor.
I thought it was a joke until I saw the adjacent tables trying to eat without moving their arms.
As someone who struggles with claustrophobia, I looked at my husband and we left. If I’m going to spend $150+ for dinner, I’d like to be at least somewhat comfortable.
These dividers weren’t there the last time we went a few weeks ago.
I’m really sad that I won’t be able to go back for awhile.
The food, atmosphere and service were on par. A dining experience coupled with eclectic location that was soothing and uplifting in the current climate. The food was a totally new and different taste that was tantalizing to the taste buds. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was excellent. This was a limited travel event that was well worth it!
Highly recommended delicious food in the Oregon District! There are really no bad options when it comes to the food and drinks. No doubt whatever menu item you choose, it will be abundant with delicious flavor and they have some very unique and delicious options for drinks as well. The service was top notch which only further made our dining experience truly exceptional!
We were impressed with the temp check at the door and the general safety protocols. Fantastic food and service and a wonderful ambience to celebrate our son's wedding anniversary.
Delicious and exotic food, there is something for everyone. I would highly recommend!
It took 45 mins to get our first cocktail. After that the next round of cocktails and appetizers took another 30-40 mins. My husband ordered a coffee and it took 20 mins to be delivered. The refill also took a very long time. I believe it was a combination of the server not paying attention and the bar being backed up. Unfortunately after so many wonderful experiences at Salar, this was profoundly disappointing. I let the server know we were unhappy in a quiet and respectful way. She said she had let the manager know. No manager ever talked to us. And no discount was applied to the bill. I was very disappointed and have been a longtime customer both before and after covid.
Great food and service. Took friends from out of town and they also enjoyed Salar.
We sat at the bar and must say the bartender Sarah was great. Totally enjoyed the dining experience.
outstanding food with a diverse menu.
We sat at the bar as that was what we requested. Best seat in the house because it is so fun to watch them make cocktails- especially the campfire, where they torch wood chips.
Bar seating is sectioned off with plexiglass, and be prepared to have your temperature taken upon arrival to the host stand. Salar is very conscientious about COVID safety protocols.
Beautiful atmosphere and excellent food and service.
My favorite drink is the Tulum, with clove and cinnamon and vodka.
Enjoyed the pear and goat cheese salad and added salmon to it. The chicken chicharrones were excellent as well. Definitely one of our favorite spots in the Oregon District and they have a beautiful patio for those who prefer sitting outdoors.
The wrong entree was brought to me and we waited 25 minutes for a beer.
It was a little to bright and cold
We had a great time! Drinks and dinner were amazing . Our server (Mark) was super friendly, informative and gave excellent recommendations. We will continue to bring friends and out of town guests.
Absolutely will be returning. Beautiful, quiet space that can be used for something intimate or more open.
Absolutely fantastic. I’ve been here multiple times over the years and have to say it’s been perfect. You’re spending 30$ a plate but you’re actually getting a fantastic amount of perfectly crafted food, not like some bougie “up scale” places. The calamari was fantastic, the drinks are killer, the staff is knowledgeable. All things point to a perfect dining experience.
The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was beautiful!
We went to Salar for the first time to celebrate my wife's birthday. Mark our server was extremely helpful making sure we understood our options for food and drinks. We followed many of his suggestions and really enjoyed everything.
We had 7 people in our group. We sat at the Chef's Table. It was like being in our own dining room but having someone else do all the work.
We were very happy with appetizers, drinks, the main course and desert. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants great good and a great experience.
Great food and service!
Very attractively presented food and drinks, well prepared. Enjoyed everything, but nothing was life-changing.
Awesome service, love Mark!
I think this was the 3rd wedding anniversary we've celebrated at Salar. For cocktails we had the Pisco Sour and the Hickory Torch. Great cocktails, highly recommend both! For dinner I had the pork filet mignon, my wife had the filet mignon with the brandy and pink peppercorn sauce. Both selections and their sides were perfectly prepared. We sat in one of the back rooms, which was quiet and rather secluded with all the social distancing. Our waitress was friendly, polite and professional. Wish I could remember her name.
She did share with us that she was recently engaged to a great guy. The food, service and ambiance is great. Salar is a delightful dining experience! I can also testify to the fact that Salar is doing everything necessary to keep their patrons safe during this pandemic. I encourage everyone to get out and support their local restaurants.
I love this place! The drinks are some of the best in the city and their empanadas are a meal alone.
Our meals were amazing! Our drinks were perfect and the service impeccable. Perfect date location.
the food was wonderful and we had an excellent server. we loved the back patio, it was so relaxed and we were able to talk.
