Once we found a check in stand with staff present, we were escorted to a lovely private room away from the noise of the outer bar area. The wait staff was very friendly and professional and answered all our questions. The wine selection is superb and the food is perfection. I would highly recommend the lobster tempura and scallops. The only think I didn't like was the wood fired corn side dish because the wood fired flavor was too strong. Other than that, it was great and the waiter even brought us a complementary dinner when we told them we were on our honeymoon! The dessert was baked Alaska and it was delicious!
We we’re very happy to see Reggie, from Restaurant Eve in Alexandria, Virginia, at the hostess stand! Also, Jason and the rest of the service staff were professional and very friendly. The private dining/veranda location made the night extra special. The main reason we decided to book a reservation at Salacia, during our vacation at Virginia Beach this summer, was because of a reference to its wine list + oceanfront location in the book “Cork Dork”, as mentioned to both Reggie and Jason the night of our dine there.
This was our second visit to this restaurant. Our first visit we had an amazing experience. This time, the service was very slow, they mixed our drink orders up twice. Our steaks were ordered medium and they came well done and the sides came out when the meals were almost completed. The price is far too expressive for this experience.
The food was mediocre for the price, but that typically is the case when you’re in a tourist area. Restaurants know people will come regardless because of location. Crab meet over my filet was not fresh, tasted like it was from a can. Wine list was subpar and the coffee we ordered at the end of our meal was old.
We sat outside, which was beautiful. If you choose the outdoor seating option, be prepared to hear the jets overhead every 20 minutes or so. We didn’t mind that part. Service was just alright.
The prices at Salacia were higher than most of the Steak Houses but the quality and taste of the steak was inferior to other places I have been. The staff were very friendly and accommodating but attention to detail was lacking. For example, I would have expected at a restaurant in this price range that the staff that brought out the food should know what each person at the table ordered.
The venue is amazing. The food is pricy. Sort of run of the mill steak house. The chef uses a lot of butter.
I love vegetables but there vegetables are prepared very al dente with too much butter and salt.
The fillet Oscar was like velvet- delicious!!The lobster bisque had a very strong fish broth base but lots of lobster. Truffle Mac& cheese was very good and not too salty. Very good food but the service was extremely slow. The charger plates on the table were beautiful. We were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary and they surprised us with a fancy little desert with chocolate writing spelling out-Happy Anniversary! Lovely touch!I would go again.
We have been long time patrons here for our special occasions. No more. Food was just good, not great as it has been. Service was slower than ever & I don't think it was our waiter's fault. For the high price it is not even considerably worth it. Sad..
Went to Salacia on a date with my husband just kicking off our anniversary month celebrating. Our first time there. Great location, is in a hotel and the is valet parking which is a plus. Was a little noise when we walked in, I was surprise how casual everything looked but that was not the restaurant. The hostess actually walked us through the kitchen and into the back in a quiet very elegant room for our service. We had an amazing table by the window with the amazing ocean front view. Waiters were all very good, there was specially one lady that was super friendly and very attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. Food was amazing!!! I had a steak, and even thought it was a bit overcooked it was delicious. See all the pics!! Only awkward thing was that to get to the Salacia dining room we walked through the kitchen but other than that was great!
Having a reservation We have to wait 1 hour and a half to be seated outside. You have to pass through CAT31 with a lot of noise and people in swimming suit with no shirt. The price was excessive.
The food was excellent
We had a excellent experience. Great waiter and nice wine list.
All staff extremely kind and attentive. Food was ok, but extremely expensive.
Trey was great. Made our night. The food was great, the steak was a little over cooked but everything was so good that it didn’t matter. Didn’t even bother to tell our server because everything was amazing. The server was extremely attentive and the host was very pleasant and welcoming. Truly a gem in VB. A must try.
Had the most wonderful meal and dining experience at Salacia for our second anniversary. Amazing service. Definitely would recommend and will be coming back!
Steak over cooked
Best place on the oceanfront to celebrate our anniversary!
We went to Salacia for our anniversary dinner in June of 2019. Although it was pricey, we would definitely return. The food was great and the service was even better. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Excellent food the porterhouse was an exceptional. Service was spot on. Will go back on my next visit.
A very special place when you want to have a very special dinner -- or you just want a good dinner. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Wonderful and intimate setting!
Having the chance to dine outside right at the beach is always enjoyable. Service was impeccable and our waiter was first class. The table had a variety of dishes, all of the food was incredible. Can’t praise the restaurant and staff enough. We are local and will continue to dine here when we can!
My only complaint would be the gnats. Not sure where they came from but tbey were annoying.
Horrible. Bad service. Food was so salty it was inedible. Just bad. Bad. Bad.
Excellent place for quiet couples dinner. Semi private booth on boardwalk/bike path and excellent service to boot. Worth the drive from wherever you are.
Not nearly as good as it should be for such an expensive steakhouse. Nothing special. 36oz Porterhouse was not very good.
Private dining outside was amazing. Food and Service was also great! Would definitely come back and would recommend!
A must go to place in the Hampton Roads area! The server was outstanding and very attentive. My scallops was like butter and great wine selection. Topnotch elegant experince with delicious food and a warm and wonderful ambience.
Martini Drinks were made wrong but the server did go back and make sure they made them right he was a good server just had too many tables between him and the other server. steak was over cooked my date finished her entree while I waited to tell someone the steak was over cooked ordered MR came out MW. Dined here a year ago experience was superb not saying I had a horrible time they just seemed off all night. Oh and the food runner drops your food like she hates her job very rude.
Everything was great. I just wish they enforced their dress code. There were people wearing shorts and a t-shirt even though the website clearly says shorts and t-shirt are not allowed. Seeing people underdressed as I walked out kind of cheapened the experience a little for me and my wife.
Very good steaks. Service very good. Thank you for accommodating vegetarian in our party.
Panna cotta dessert was too firm / too much gelatin. I prefer creamier texture. Perhaps my personal taste, but side by side taste test - creamy would win. I think we ordered 3 or 4 of them. chocolate cake was ok. strawberry shortcake I had two days later at Catch 33 just ok. Dessert preparation does not rise to level of the rest of the experience. We'll be back.
Proprietor Youell's Oyster House.
Excellent food, excellent service... fabulous outdoor private seating!! Had a wonderful Birthday dinner!! Will always eat here when we are in town.
Thank you for the kind review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your Birthday Dinner with us at Salacia.
This is truly a special occasion place to dine! The filet Oscar was wonderful and the ambiance of the outdoor seating is beautiful!
Enjoyed my visit at Salacia. Everyone was professional and the food was suburb.
Salacia was amazing. We were able to sit outdoors where each booth is comfortable and feels completely secluded. It truly felt like a private dining area. The staff was all amazing, incredibly friendly and courteous. They do a very good job at allowing you time alone while also being present enough to catch if you need something. It is a little pricy, but honestly it's worth it for the amazing food and atmosphere
Outstanding venue for my wife’s birthday dinner. Excellent service and food Perfect place for that special occasion.
Food was excellent! Filet mignon, ceasar salad, seared scallops - all excellent. Bread was a little undercooked (too gooey). Wedge salad was just ok. Hostess was not very polished for handling custom requests for seating - didn't go out of her way to provide exceptional customer service. Manager was very accommodating. Complimentary celebration dessert was excellent. Outside dining atmosphere is exceptional!
Food was excellent!
Excellent food service and atmosphere
The service was slow. My husband ordered a very expensive steak Med rare, came out like shoe leather. I ordered the special oysters and got oysters rockefeller instead. My husband received his food several minutes before. For such a swanky place, the food and service leave a lot to be desired. We ended paying for our drinks, the manager should have comp the entire meal including drinks. The customer is always right and should never pay for bad service.
Victoria was amazing. The atmosphere was just right, the wait staff was very attentive...we will be back.
