We ordered the braised short-rib special in panang current sauce which was excellent! The grilled eggplant with basil (and chicken) was also very good. Medium spicy was just right -- not too tame as it is elsewhere. We've eaten in quite a few Thai restaurants in Manhattan (many on 9th Ave in Midtown) and this is definitely a level above all of those.
Excellent service, very good food. Perfect NYC lunch deal.
Love this place. Been here three times now - every time better than the last. The crepe dumplings are original and realllllllllly good!
Extremely good food and an extensive menu. The dining room is beautifully decorated and the noise level is fine (we talk a lot, and we could hear ourselves easily). Everyone enjoyed what they had, and I think that the drinks (I don't drink) were also very good. Service was attentive and courteous, and we never felt rushed even though we saw a long line waiting as we left.
Outstanding food. Excellent service. Will come many times again.
Totally in love with this place! Food and service are excellent!
Incredible value for outstanding food...especially at lunch!!
TOM GHA KAI soup was really good, and my crispy duck in curry was exquisite. Attentive service and very decent prices. A favorite option when dining before a concert.
This is a great new addition to the UWS. The space is elegant and cozy with plenty of space between tables for conversation. The service is professional and warm and very welcoming. Our dishes were excellent, particularly the dumplings and pad Thai. The chicken dish was not as good as the rest but perfectly fine. Make a reservation as it gets busy and they clearly like to manage the number of diners.
Really enjoyed eating at Sala Thai. Great food and service.
I have been there several times and find the food inventive and the service very sweet. The decor is very pretty in the Thai style. The prices are fair for the quality they offer.
What a hidden gem! The food here is consistently excellent and a great value. Have eaten in or ordered in several times and never disappointed. Their cocktails are lovely (esp. the spicy vodka one) and their short ribs are heavenly. Just need to have everyone in your party present to be seated, which is typical. I prefer sitting on the bench near the wall to cut down on noise level if I want to have a conversation. The prawn and mango salad is very tasty, the special snap pea greens soup is light and warming, and the green curry is blended smoothly (but a bit soupy). All good. Very worth a visit.
Great meal. Great service. Will be back
We love Thai food and are always searching for a great Thai spot. This is our UWS go-to Thai. Beautiful decor, wonderful service, and killer pad Thai. Excellent curries, too. Need to explore themenu a bit more the next time.
What a nice restaurant. The food was outstanding. Very flavorful and fresh. Attentive service. Go!
Best Thai food in NYC in an incredible atmosphere. Venture out and try dishes other than Pad Thai!
Food was absolutely delicious. Took two friends that live walking distance who had not been there. They plan to go back as we will when we get back to NYC.
We chose Sala because of the high ratings whereas the dinner didn't live up to the high expectations. Nothing major to complain about, the ambience was great, service was also very good, but the food was just ok with the curries being spicy but lacking the depth of taste. Papaya salad was good but expected more from the other dishes on the actual bite.
We were in a rush and the waiter, Kenny was outstanding. Front of the house people were a bit difficult because we had a 6:00 reservation but traffic had us delayed. I called and told then we would be there by 6:20 and was told that they could only hold the table until 6:10. Ridiculous, especially because we called.
I dropped off the other three people in the p arty and went to park the car in the lot on the next block but they wouldn't seat them until I got there. Ridiculous because the food order could have been put through without me being there. In any case food and service were superb.
Chicken satay, Thai salad, Basil Chicken and Shrimp Pad thai were outstanding as well as the dumpling dish I forgot the name of. Forgot the name of the dish we didn't love but it was good, just not as good as the others
Good food beautifully presented and fine service. Water refilled constantly. Nice atmosphere. Cramped entrance by the bar so no room to wait.
Sala Thai is one of our favorite places! The service is excellent, as is the food, and the restaurant itself is so beautiful inside. I am always surprised that the prices are as reasonable as they are as well. A hidden gem for sure!!
Best Thai food I've ever eaten. They serve traditional Thai as well as offering "off the beaten path" Thai - really delicious! Octopus salad and wings were delectable.
Dan, the Bartender, was so nice and very helpful by suggesting menu items that I was not familiar with. He hit my food craving on the head! And he makes a GREAT cocktail too! It gets crowded, so come on time and make a reservation. It is SO worth it!!!
I’ll definitely be back. It was great!
Always on point. Delicious food. Can't go wrong at all. And service is always great. Probably our favorite Thai restaurant in NYC.
Great presentation of the food as well as great tasting. Tasty drinks as well
Food was very delicious, decor was very "Thai". I only gave it a 4 stars for the ambiance because the food smells all over which is "normal" for NY since most kitchens are placed in the basement and they don't have enough space to install vents.
One of the best Thai places outside of Phuket.
Very happy with my experience. Food was terrific. Presentation lovely. The wait staff and people who seated us were wonderful--attentive but not in our faces. And very reasonably priced.
Will go back.
Excellent food and service. The restaurant is decorated with magnificent paintings...it feels like to be in Thailand!
Went to Sala Thai with 2 adults and 2 teens. We all loved it. The food was delicious and very flavorful. The atmosphere was great- beautifully decorated. We would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
Everything we ordered was over seasoned.
Amazing Thai restaurant on the Upper West Side. One of the (if not THE) best Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to.
Will be back, for sure.
Best Thai food I have ever had!
Sala Thai is a beautiful spot to share a meal with friends. Food, service, and ambiance are great. Will be back soon!
Sala Thai is delicious! The ambience was perfect, it was very unique and comfortable without being too crowded. The food was reasonably priced for great food on the UWS. I recommended it to a friend who went twice after I had gone the once...Will definitely be heading back to Sala Thai!
Food and table service were outstanding, but an annoying policy of refusing to seat me until my guest arrived was off-putting. The tiny bar area could hardly accommodate all the people similarly barred from entering the restaurant which was virtually empty.
Loved the decor and service. Food was very good but noise level was too high to be totally enjoyable.
Excellent customer service and food recommendations from everyone we encountered. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.
Amazing food; came in close to closing but wating staff was still friendly and welcoming. Foodservice was fast and the price was decent.
