Everything we ordered was over seasoned.
Amazing Thai restaurant on the Upper West Side. One of the (if not THE) best Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to.
Will be back, for sure.
Best Thai food I have ever had!
Sala Thai is a beautiful spot to share a meal with friends. Food, service, and ambiance are great. Will be back soon!
Food and table service were outstanding, but an annoying policy of refusing to seat me until my guest arrived was off-putting. The tiny bar area could hardly accommodate all the people similarly barred from entering the restaurant which was virtually empty.
Loved the decor and service. Food was very good but noise level was too high to be totally enjoyable.
Excellent customer service and food recommendations from everyone we encountered. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.
Amazing food; came in close to closing but wating staff was still friendly and welcoming. Foodservice was fast and the price was decent.
Had the spicy duck salad; Larb pen I think?? Delicious! Good appetizers full bar great service.
Delicious but ridiculously loud.
Great lunch special -- love the food and staff is very kind.
Great food, nice choices, very nicely appointed, too noisy at times.
A very special Thai restaurant! We had dumplings and duck curry. What could be better!
It was highly recommended by a friend so we went to celebrate our anniversary. We were very happy with the food, decor and service. Minor complaint was the service felt a bit rushed....
The food is very good and the service exquisite; the place is beautifully decorated. BUT the noise level (earlyish, 6:30 on a weeknight) was pretty deafening. That's the only downside. Pad Thai excellent, ditto cabbage soup.
Deliciously spicy and varied Thai food! No complaints except that I'm not allowed to eat as much as I wanted to.
Fantastic!!! Food, service, ambiance, cocktails... all top notch!!! Will definitely be back. :-)
Food and service were both amazing!!
Beautifully decorated with attention to detail - this is not a typical Thai restaurant in the area. Menu is interesting with classic dishes on one side and more unique/adventurous dishes on the other. Food was very flavorful and delicious. Size of each dish was average. Only issue that we experienced was extremely slow service. But very friendly service.
Everything that we ordered was delicious. Appetizer to dessert. Great vibe and good food.
Everything was good. Special ambient, it feels and smell like Thailand. Highly recommendable.
Wonderful atmosphere- lovely servers- delicious Thai!
This is a little gem of a place, wish it didn't get so noisy, but the food is excellent.
This has to be our best OpenTable find of 2019! We would totally travel from Queens to UWS for this. Authentic decor and atmosphere; fabulous food and great service, Portions are generous to come hungry! We highly recommend the Thai chicken wings, shrimp pad Thai, and the mango sticky rice. As authentic as you'd get on Thailand.
Great food in a very cute place!
Menu is very extensive so there are options for everyone!
Love Sala Thai - food and service are lovely, but can be kind of loud
Absolutely excellent. I can’t believe it took me so long to discover this neighborhood gem. I would go there weekly if I could. Amazing food, great service, pretty decor. Top notch.
Great creative food. Rushed and rude service. Beautiful decor.
Excellent ambiance, service and of course the menu selection and quality of the food.
I lived in Thailand years ago. Have tried many Thai restaurants. Easy to disappoint me with dumbed down versions of Thai dishes... Sala Thai is not Thailand but it is very good. I felt that close attention had been devoted to every dish. We had green papaya salad...as good as it gets in restaurants. laap gai, which is ground chicken marinated in a spicy lime/fish sauce sauce...excellent... Also had a duck version of laap but the duck was not ground up..served with black sticky rice .. very good... Had Mussaman curry... not as good as in Thailand but better than in other Thai restaurants... We had Pandan chicken. in banana leaves with the black sticky rice.. quite tasty... Had sautéed bok chok because you gotta have some green... we had the classic mango in coconut milk with dark sticky rice... love that dish. and some kind of ice cream with coconut custard... delicious... Would not seat us until the other couple showed up... bar was too small to fit me and my wife together...kind of a downer hanging around outside but only a minor blip in the experience
The food was very good. The calamari could have been a little hotter (temperature) and a little less heat (spice) in the mango salad, but overall it was delicious. Would eat there again.
This was my second time at Sala Thai and it was great. There menu is broken down into classic dishes and special dishes. The first time we went we ordered more classic style and the second time we did all specials. Everything was amazing.
The decor has an authentic Thai feel with a NYC twist. If you are looking for good Thai food, good service, in a fun atmosphere I would give this place a try.
Excellent service and great food.
Birthday dinner with family
Delicious food, attentive service, and a lovely space.
It was the best Thai food we have ever had. Food amazing, service great, highly recommend.
Food was good, unfortunately since it was 90 plus degrees out, it was very warm in the restaurant as their AC did not appear to be working.
Please lower the noise level of the music as it would contribute to a calmer ambiance overall. Otherwise, the food was average to good.
The food was delicious - a complete departure back to the food that I had in Thailand. I recommend this, but it is not for the uninitiated on authentic Thai flavors. Come with an open mind and an empty stomach and you will be rewarded!
From other reviews I know that Sala Thai has the same owner as Thai Villa, downtown. At Sala Thai, the food is excellent, refreshing, well prepared and well above the quality of a 'good' thai restaurant. Everyone in the restaurant is welcoming. We started with the purple dumplings with peanuts and crab, so delicious. I had the soft shell crab salad, which was super, but it has had more noodles than salad so I'm not quite sure it is a salad other than it was served cold. My husband had a shrimp and vegetable dish, again very fresh, a very good portion, and a great sauce. The decor is beautiful, but not quite as beautiful as Thai Villa, which is fine, it is elegant yet comfortable. I gave it a 4 on noise as by 6PM a loudmouth young woman a few tables away (You know the type, always too loud from spending much time in bars) was making it hard to converse without yelling over her, but as the general background noise grew we could hear her less. The service is super but the young waiter brought me a red wine, likely a pinor noir, when I asked for a pinot gigio, and seemed a bit taken aback when I nicely stated that what I ordered is a white wine and what he brought was red. He fixed the situation and did apologize later. So a great place, I will be back for sure, it is so easy to get Thai food but so difficult to get great Thai food in a very pleasant environment.
