About this restaurant

Enjoy your Sala Thai dining experience! Sala Thai is inspired by the name of the highest ranking government house in Siam, the original name of Thailand. We provide a "Phraya" experience which means it's fit for a king! The isosceles triangles in our restaurant's design represent Siam royalty and the " Sum Rub" cuisine introduces you to traditional, unusual, and beautifully prepared Thai specialties. Our dishes are rare and hard to find nowadays. For an unexpected and flavourful adventure, sample our " Kang Kao Peuak" ( Taro Samosa), Pad Thai Bolan ( Old styled recipe) and Short Rib Panang. Our master chef has spent more than a year researching and testing his recipes for you. Let him know what you think!

This restaurant offers a commendable dining experience with both excellent food and attentive service. Despite the customary 90-minute seating limit often found in bustling, upscale establishments, we found ourselves so immersed in the superb meal and pleasant conversation that we exceeded two hours. We were then met with a gracious reminder from our understanding server. A return visit is definitely in order, and we wholeheartedly recommend this venue.

Main entrees were well-prepared, well-seasoned, and ample. The one appetizer we tried - we were familiar with the others and weren't going to order them - Kha Nom Jeeb resembled the Siu Mai (shumai) served by many Chinese restaurants in NYC. Those along with the Kha Nom Jeeb taste reheated from frozen pans of Kha Nom Keeb ordered from outside vendors. If they are in fact made in-house then, as we said, they tasted like they'd been reheated from a frozen state and thus, tasted doughy and had nothing about the inside mix of meats to recommend that we order them again. Don't know if Sala Thai has recently turned over management and/or new chefs in the kitchen but the food used to always be 5-star level cooking; now it's closer to 3-4-star and we gave them 4 for now.

Great food, good service, appreciate the partition between tables for more privacy and hygiene. Noisy but doesn’t that mean the food is great?

Sala Thai is clearly the best Thai restaurant in New York. The food was so delicious and delicate that we kept eating long after we were satiated! In fact, we could not help but express to each other how delicious the food was. This restaurant is not to be missed!
