Sakoon - Mountain View
Nestled in downtown Mountain View, Sakoon offers diners a tantalizing blend of traditional and contemporary flavors representing multiple Indian regions. Our chefs have created dishes that borrow from the past, yet are reinvented anew with vibrancy and modern flair.
Named for the Indian word for "peace," Sakoon was designed to envelop diners in warmth and serenity. Upon entering the restaurant, you'll be greeted by the image of Buddha in hand-carved wooden panels, the glow from fiber-optic chandeliers, and the shimmer of a waterfall cascading into a pool of lotus petals.
We invite you to join us for an exquisite dining experience.

It tasted Like yesterday’s food, spiciness was use to cover up the stale taste not to enhance flavor. Will not return.
The best Indian food in town!! Never disappoints. Friendly service and nice birthday celebration .
Great food! Service wasn’t bad but sometimes difficult to get a hold of the waiter
Inspite of the reservation, when we reached there the table was not ready and the server said he doesn't have a reservation on my name .
Sever made us stand in waiting just like any a normal waiting.
What's the point in reserving and going ?
My husband had a fractured foot coz of which we needed a reservation and not stand after going there.
Bus alas! OpenTable reservation doesn't mean much to the restaurant I guess !
Excellent food. Basil Chicken seekh kabab, butter chicken and naan + roomali roti were excellent. Service was good but a little slow. Consistently good food.
always enjoy their food - and the ambience is lovely - quiet - service ALWAYS excellent :)
The very tasty and varied food and the service (though a buffet) did not disappoint. Glad we made a reservation.
Always the best : never disappoints : best Indian food in town
Food is great once in a while. Too heavy and not for regular consumption. It's kind of hot the other day, AC wasn't working.
Greeted at the door at my arrival. Seated quickly and a beverage delivered. No mention of specials, but the broad array of foods on the regular menu provide plenty of options to even the pickiest of eaters.
The food was to temperature, which can be a betting game in some restaurants. Huge portions, and very delicious. The Chai tea was also perfectly balanced spices, and not too sweet. The service staff checked in with me repeatedly, and I never felt unattended.
The place was hopping on a week night. Reservations probably a must on a busy weekend. Highly recommend. I will return.
Even the weather was fantastic! They took care of everything
Good food, some things could have been better. Service was good as well but the food refills for some dishes took a lot of time, though overall it was a good experience with improvements needed in food taste and quality.
Best Indian food I’ve had in a very long time. Well worth the drive from north bay.
Food was great, loved the atmosphere, little bit noisy but ok.
It's lunch buffet everyday, weekend is $15.95 AYCE naan.
A lot of variety for both vegetarian and meat eater.
Very tasty, filling and make you fall asleep afterward
My new favorite Indian restaurant in the South Bay Area, Sakoon delighted us with tasty, creative dishes that were as good as they looked. This is not your standard-fare Indian. Very little that our table of 4+ ordered was anything any of us had ever heard of. Everything was delicious. They accommodated our little grandson (who was a little antsy but not obnoxious) gracefully. The decor is intriguing, the service was prompt and accurate, the flavors somewhat new and exciting. We'll be back.
Super rude guy (Valen?) at the front desk. He could have politely communicated the limited seating choices available . Instead he chose tao condescending and do-not-care attitude. I expected better service at this place. FWIW, the lady standing next to him was way more pleasant and understanding.
Incredible experience - amazing staff, tasty food - definitely recommend
Food server was not warm enough. It would have much better experience, had that not happened.
Our first experience was good but our second experience was not so good, we booked table in advance but when we reached there on time we waited around 30-35 mins.means no value of advance booking n when we got table then nobody was there for taking any order approx 25 mins.. means it was wastage of time n the food was very expensive.. not worth for that money.. I would like to say go for lunch only they have buffet... in weekends it’s difficult with kids..
have eaten here several times...….very good service, wide variety of choices nicely prepared, way above average ambiance for an indian restaurant......decent wine selection and $15 corkage...….has never disappointed
Reliably good food and service. Our default ‘go to’ Indian restaurant
Good menu selections; generous portions of food. Enjoyed the chicken tika masala Pleasant dining room with soft lighting. In general the restaurant was fairly quiet except for the table of 5 young ladies who did not know who to modulate their voices in consideration of other diners.
A good place for dinner before a show at the Mountain View Performing Center, 1.5 block away.
Sakoon employees are all extremely professional, friendly, fast and efficient workers. Especially the Sakoon lady at the front desk. She is extremely professional, helpful and polite checking in customers. She reserved our reservation when I arrived early and was waiting for my friend to arrive to the restaurant. We got a very nice, beautiful booth.
My friend and I haven’t seen each other for a while and we were both able to have pleasant conversations and enjoyed ourselves with Sakoon’s delicious food!
This is the 2nd time I’ve been to this restaurant with a reservation, and before we’ve even had chance to order, we’ve been told to hurry up, this time because they wanted to close the kitchen. We had plates whipped away the second I put my fork down, we’re rushed through our meal, and left within 30 minutes of arriving. There were still plenty of other diners in the restaurant. I won’t be returning
Party of 6. Friday evening. Reception was friendly and understanding that we were not all immediately present. We shared 3 appetizers and 5 mains. All outstanding. We just drank water so cannot speak to the wine menu. Everyone was happy. There were no leftovers. Try the Tandori veggies and the Kashmiri naan. Service was efficient despite a full house. If you love Indian cuisine, you will not be disappointed.
Wonderful restaurant, great for lunch and dinner. I love the flavors, the food, and the staff. I would certainly recommend it to anyone.
Great food and atmosphere!
Absolutely amazing food. One of the few places in Bay Area that serves authentic Indian food. Prices are at par with the quality of food and service. Been here a couple times and would keep going back. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to have Indian cuisine.
I don't know exactly what was wrong with the food, My mother and I both got stomach infection after having dinner at this restaurant.
My dining companion and I arrive a few minutes before our 5 pm reservation and the doors were still locked, which the hostess quickly remembered. I had made a special request for table against a wall or window which was honored. Initially we were the only guests, our drink order was taken and quickly served. We asked our waiter for some recommendations, which he offered, before ordering the Samosa appetizer and the Tandoori mixed grill. Again our order arrived quickly. The samosas (3 pieces) had a thin, light and crispy outer crust with a nicely seasoned filling. The mixed grill had two pieces each of prawns, boneless chicken breast, a sausage and lamb chops. The platter with the mixed grill also had a bowl of dal and some garnish, similar to the garnish on the plate with the samosas. Service was prompt, attentive but not intrusive. As the restaurant filled behind us, the noise level increased but never so much that my companion and I had to raise our voices. Finally, even after paying the very reasonable tab, at no point were we hurried along. It was an excellent dining experience, one which I would be happy to repeat the next time I have an appetite for Indian cuisine.
Had a reservation for a booth, waited and got a table amidst busy walkway which was not a booth. Did not get naan almost till we were ready to write the cheque. Food was average.
Not sure if everything is perfect because we came on a weekend day but line was short, restaurant was not busy, Staff was attentive refilling water and naan (which some of the review was negative when restaurant is crowded). Also our first time for the children to experience Indian food so it was extra bonus that everything was excellent. :)
The food is delicious! The restaurant was fairly busy, so it took a while to get the check at the end. It's a little too expensive for what it is, but I definitely enjoyed what I ordered. I will likely come back.
The service was mediocre at best. We kept thinking our waiter forgot about us as it was approximately 10 minutes before he came to get our order, he forgot to deliver my drink so we had to flag down a manager, then he never came back to our table once the food was delivered. We ordered 2 types of rice and only received one. We had to flag him down again to ask for our check, then he again did not return to pick up our payment. We had to flag down another manager to run our credit card. Poor service but delicious food and warm, cozy, well designed decor/great ambience.
Excellent Indian food. This along with Amber are my two go to Indian places for good food with ambiance. Dinner is good, lunch buffet is superb.
Long wait for seating, and even longer(over an hour) for serving. Very poor service as well
Not what I expected:(
Staff/servers need to be more trained- did not know what a dry wine is?
Food was just average, lamb chops were dry and tasteless
Decor in the back rooms are hideous
Honestly expected better ... so 2 or 3 stars
While the service was very good and some of the dishes nice, I didn't feel that the a la carte dining lived up to the extremely high bar set by the lunch buffet. Still a good place, but I'll come for lunch instead.
We love the food, service and ambiance at Sakoon. Thanks everyone for making our family birthday party a special event.
