Fantastic new location that continues the spirit of the original Hagi but in a more spacious place. Even with more guests, I found the volume level to be reasonable, and the setting somewhat intimate. We were fortunate to receive one of the tables in the back of the restaurant. Dishes are delicious and reasonably priced (<$10 for a small plate or appetizer), which encourages lots of ordering. We were pleased with the octopus balls, shrimp shumai, avocado salad and sashimi sampler we ordered - it was sufficient for two people, and came out to a reasonable <$30 each after tax and tip. We did not opt for drinks, but the Happy Hour Sapporo special looked good. A+ would recommend and visit again

Hands-down our favorite pre-theater joint! The energy, the food, the peeking at what everyone else is eating so you can have it too! We've recently discovered the place and can't wait to go back! Best gyoza we've had in ages, and it's hard to stop eating at just five or six skewers. We've never had dessert since we're always too full : ) .

The place is more condensed since thelication on 49th Street closed down. The tables are closer together and the servers did not check up on the tables by the bar as frequently as those in the main dining area. By the selection of the food and drinks still make Hagi the best Izakaya for its value in NYC. It's good for a casual business meetup as well as friends getting together. Highly recommended

My colleague and I had the best time at Sake Bar Hagi 46! So good, in fact, that thanks to the lovely Japanese people sitting next to us, I went home and booked a flight to Japan the next day. I mean I didn't leave for Japan the next day, but I bought my tickets! I loved the food, notably the octopus balls (takoyaki), the pork okonomiyaki, and the mentaiko fried rice. Everything was delicious and the service was super friendly as well. There is a great conviviality about the place which made us feel right at ease. I'm so looking forward to trying more Japanese food both at Sake Bar Hagi 46 on my next business trip AND in Japan when I can explore on my own!

Meeting some friends in midtown can be a hike... so wanted something with a little edge. Had been here before - great food, great sake selection, awesome service - and one of the few places to get okonomiyaki (that I know of). So off we traipsed, on a cold, wet, winter night! Our table was waiting for us - and the place was busy (as it usually is on a Friday night). Ordered a round of drinks - then selected a bunch of dishes... soshito peppers, pickles, noodle, omelet, teriyaki skewars - and of course a few of the okonomiyaki! It was glorious - all of it. It comes out tapas style.. so we all grazed on everything.. nothing I didn't like. The teriyaki skewers were particularly good... the chicken meatballs are so tasty. The okonomiyaki (Japanese cabbage pancake for those of you not in the know) were hot and flavorful. I forgot to have them add cheese ( this is a rookie mistake, and I did apologize to our guests) - but still so tasty. They are not as heavy with the BBQ sauce as they are in Osaka, but this is a good thing if you ask me. All in all a great night, and we will definitely go back!!

Although the menu is almost impossible to read, the servers were friendly and helpful. The "tapas" are sushi and sashimi, yakatori and other specialties, including noodle dishes and tempura. Everything was very tasty. The happy hour drinks were priced very well. A quick eatery in the theater district on restaurant row.

We had a great time celebrating a friend's birthday at Sake Bar Hagi 46. Great drinks and a huge menu on Japanese tapas. Ambience and decor are wonderful, though service could be a bit lacking. Japanese-themed cocktails were a great deal and food was generously portioned. I'll be back soon!

It was a pre theater dinner. We were running a few minutes late, but they were super gracious when I called to alert them. The menu was perfect for us; dumplings, sushi, grilled veggies, meats and seafood. It was all super fresh. The atmosphere was very relaxed. It was nothing fancy but very homey and sweet. Would very much recommend for anytime.

Not only did we have a terrific meal here, but the service was excellent as well. Very laid back but attentive. Food was very good- we ordered two dishes at a time and were very happy with almost all of them. We thought their yakitori skewers were the weakest items we have. The squid salad was killer! Definitely recommended and we will be back!

We were late for our reservation but they were able to squeeze us in. Service was quick and efficient. We enjoyed the kushiyaki selections and downed our sticks with my favourite tokyo mixed drink of shochu hoppy. It was a cold night so we decided to order the ramen 46 as well and it was a good decision. A perfect place for after work drinks or get together with friends.

What a wonderful find in the Theater District! I confess, I read about Sake Bar Hagi-46 in Time Out NY while looking for a "non touristy" spot, moderately priced, in the neighborhood - to go after a matinee. This was the perfect spot. The food was creatively prepared, the options more than sufficient, and everything was delicious. The ambiance felt very "local" which, for a New Yorker, is a big plus. The service was perfect and the staff welcoming and genuine. A real keeper. Highly, highly recommend! PS: Just wish I had seen the chalkboard option for sake sangria before I ordered a beer.... I can only imagine how amazing that would have been! Oh well, I guess I'll have to return!

I wanted one thing, agadashi tofu. I also wanted sushi. I'm not sure what my husband wanted, noodle something. Whatever noodle egg thing that he ordered was big and in my mind was too sweet. He likes to order weird stuff. Anyway, I was pleased with my agadashi tofu. I also ordered shoshito peppers on a stick, and quickly learned not to eat the seeds as they are very spicy, so I spent time removing the seeds. We arrived just in time to catch the last 15 minutes of happy hour and had a tolerable $4 glass of saki. My husband had a peach soda which tasted more like plain seltzer.

Let's start with the positive. The rolls (very few options) and the assorted sashimi were fresh. The salmon was pricey, salty and overcooked (tiny portion). Yakitori was very overpriced with really small portion (more like appetizer size). Our group of four left the restaurant spending a fortune and unsatisfied. We had to go to another restaurant nearby for dinner as we did not like the food at Saki Bar Hagi 46.

It was such a fun friendly restaurant with a cool chill vibe. I met an old high school buddy and the night flowed smoothly that the meal and the service was perfectly timed. It felt like we were in play. The ambiance and the food became part of night and we were all left with truly special and memorable evening. The food was unique but not overpowering. I highly recommend the nanban chicken.
