Amazing sushi. Great atmosphere. Quick service! Do not pass up the firecracker shrimp!
This was our first time dining at Sakana. My husband wanted sushi and also wanted to try a new restaurant. Sakana is a beautiful restaurant. The waitress made us feel welcome and relaxed. We started with chicken meatballs skewers and the sashimi tacos which were both delicious. My husband and I chose the dinner specials I had the regular special with California rolls and he had the special with shrimp crunch rolls, both were amazing. The wasabi and ginger were fresh and delicious as well.
Sakana Sushi Lounge is now one of our new favorite restaurant. We will definitely go
I made a reservation for 7pm and got there around 6:45pm. I remember they didn't have the option to reserve indoor dining but when we arrived, they asked if we wanted to dine indoor or outdoor. It was windy that night so we decided to dine indoor. The server was friendly. She recommended us some stuff to order from the menu. We weren't sure if the menu and pen were sanitized so we asked to see if they had wipes for our hands, but they didn't. Due to Covid-19 I wished they had wipes to clean our hands before our meal. We had to go to the bathroom to wash our hands before the meal. We got the sushi burrito but it wasn't what we expected. It was maybe a 3/5 for us. We also go the sashimi platter. The yellowtail and blue fin were the best. We also got the duo yellowtail special roll. This was pretty good. I would recommend getting this roll.
The sushi was delicious and everything was reasonably priced. The ambiance was amazing.
Sakana has become one of our favorite restaurants, especially for quality sushi dishes. All are carefully, artfully and deliciously prepared and presented in a pleasing and smartly stylish ambiance with friendly and capable service second to none. We noted it has a handsome indoor bar with a great happy hour menu which we will soon try.
Very good service. Lovely presentation. Not my favorite food.
The service and food were absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend.
The sushi was ok not great & too expensive
They did not accept our dining reward
Everything was good from the service to the food. We were all pleased with the restaurant and will definitely go again.
Sushi was pretty mediocre but not too pricey either so it’s not the worst
Very fresh outstanding sushi. The service was PERFECT.
Poor customer service! We had reservations and they did not take us in. If they don’t want to take customers in 30 minutes before closing they should not have reservations available.
Everything was good but services was so bad it made the whole experience just blah. Had dinner on 6/19/2021.
Was just as good the second night!
Buena opción de sushi en Downtown LA, nada extraordinario, solo destacar el "Uni Burrata", excelente combinación y sabor.
Food was great, the servers and security guards very nice
From the doorman to all the waitstaff and the food. All on point!!! Even better than pre COVID which I can honestly say has been my only experience like that. Delicious food! Lively vibe. Bravo!
AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG!! Seriously everything was great!
Mediocre sushi. Not as elevated or “sophisticated” as promised by the restaurant via social media. Apps were good though, the crispy tuna became the star of the meal rather than the main. Generous roll servings for the hungry, but a barely-there portion for their sushi nigiri which I guess is perfect for those who are dieting or only want a small sliver of taste. Drinks are good. Service good. Not sure if I’d pick this spot again. You’d be better off at Sugar Fish by Nozawa.
The food was subpar and the service was lacking.
I’m sad our waitress got off before I could ask her name. She was phenomenal. She knew the menu frontward and backward and gave us wonderful recommendations based on our preferences. Suffice the day, the food was absolutely perfect. We had the red snapper (so tender) & yellowtail belly sashimi + the firecracker shrimp (to die for), the soft shell crab (perfectly crunchy with a wide variety of robust flavor), the creamy langostino roll, and the HOT & something roll (based on her recommendation and was my favorite roll). The beginning of the night was more date focused so it was peaceful with great ambiance. As the people leaving clubs started filing in w large groups later that night @ 10:20ish, we decided to leave. Overall wonderful experience though.
A really wonderful restaurant for quality sushi. Painstakingly and artfully prepared, their sushi is virtually perfect in taste, texture, look and creativity. The decor is somewhat minimalist, but sharp and neat, very modern. The service is very attentive and friendly, and very responsive. Competitively priced for sushi of this high quality.
Great service! The food came fast! The waiters were awesome and the drinks excellent!
Very nice place food was amazing very good quality sushi and fresh.
Nice place. Good food. Will definitely go back.
Wanted to try some place new and it was a great delicious meal
Awesome location in DTLA, fresh fish, great whiskey menu, and awesome outdoor patio. This was fantastic.
The food was great but the service was slow. It may have been to low staff but it definitely was a hassle to get someone’s attention. The server and busser were extremely nice though despite the slow service.
Love this place!! For myself and my husbands first time attending a sushi restaurant..let’s just say we will be coming back soon! Excellent service, tasty foods,
Extensive menu, fire pit, good ambiance, tasty food. However, understaffed - long wait time for service and bill.
Food was fresh and delicious. They have a great variety of rolls and fish. Service was amazing. Great cocktails! Highly recommend.
We had reservations for 9:30 and they told us last minute that they were closing early so instead of serving us quickly they decided to take 20 minutes before even giving us water much less taking our orders then I order yellowtail sashimi and I expected it to have japelenos on it, they didn’t. Only thing good I can say is how good quality the cut of fish it was, . Horrible service overall but maybe I was just singled out because there were some other customers who seemed to enjoy it.
Wait staff was a little over involved at the beginning.. had to come ask us if we were ordering multiple times because they didn’t give us enough time to look at the menu. Other than that, food was lovely.
Overall it was not as good as I expected. Food was alright but pricey.
So I set a reservation here for my girlfriend’s and I’s anniversary. We were 5 minutes late to the reservation but as soon we were helped out at the stand, we were rushed to order due to their last call. The server told us we have to order right away and it was our first time there, so she kept hovering around us to order. At this point I’m frantically looking at pictures and trying to choose random menu items that I’m familiar with. I asked her for suggestions on their best roll and she said Alaskan roll. Like REALLY?! On top of that, when my girlfriend asked for recommendations on and sake that’s creamy, she brought out a bottle that was clear and tasted horrible. Before we could even tell her that’s not what we asked for, she opens the bottle and pours into our shot glasses. The only reason why I didn’t get up and leave is because my girlfriend told me to let it go. The only reason why I put 2 stars is because the food alone was good, but other than that I would’t come again.
Good to be back at indoor dining. Service was bit slow for us to get our order in. Food was delivered on time and was tasty
Fresh and proper can’t ask for much more from a generic sushi spot
Staff was eeeehhhh but food was GREAT.
Best sushi in DTLA. David and his staff are always amazing. Been going since they opened and I have yet to be disappointed.
