We felt welcome from entering the door until we exited. Such a relaxed atmosphere. Very soothing background music which made for comfortable conversation (not having to shout over the music as you have to in many restaurants of today). The waiter was very efficient and friendly and we enjoyed our conversation with him. We enjoyed the Grilled Halloumi & Watermelon Salad with a very unique taste. Both my husband and I chose the Saffron & Lobster Pappardelle Entre' which was so delicious, a bit spicy, but very good. I did not want to leave without having dessert so I brought home a huge portion of the dinner. We split a serving of carrot cake for dessert which was a very satisfying finish to the wonderful experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Amazing experience, definitely going back and would recommend to anyone looking to enjoy excellent food and drinks.
This is a very fine dining experience. The food and service is superb. The waitstaff is very attentive and knowledgeable. I can't say enough good about Chateau.
The place was beautiful. The ambience was excellent, the service was great, and the food was superb. A number one place to eat.
Delicious as always, and love the river views! Glad to have a gem like this so close to Clayton village.
Fabulous food and service as usual
Great location overlooking the St. Lawrence River
most amazing restaurant and atmosphere. The food and the presentation is outstanding. compliments to the chef and his team , you can tell they really put their soul into these dishes. I had to take some home and the next day it was so good. definitely coming back again when the weather breaks so I can catch a great sunset.
Great service and excellent new menu. Best restaurant in the 1000 islands.
The service and chef we're great. We had the escargot to start; amazing. I ordered the NY strip and my wife had the lobster entree. I highly recommend the "Icebreaker" whiskey made in house, so much so, I bought a bottle when I left.
Don't get me wrong, the chef knows what he/she is doing, no doubt. However, I think the prices for almost everything are a tad high. We are the type that don't mind spending extra for quality food and we were not dissatisfied but we weren't blown away either.
For a bit of context, my wife and I have traveled all over Europe and the states and we are big time"foodies". The best meal I've ever had (outside of my wife's cooking of course) was in Marseille, France; fresh caught sea bass and the reason I bring that up is it was HALF the price of my steak at this restaurant. That's not to knock my food here in NY, that's not a fair comparison... But the reason I bring it up is I'd go here much more if the prices were more reasonable. I'm not asking for a $20 steak and I'm not saying this one was bad but the bang for the buck wasn't there.
Pricing aside we actually look forward to returning soon. We're thinking of the meat and cheese platter with a bottle of rosé on the terrace would be a perfect summer evening.
The ONLY Reason I have less then 5 stars on ambience was there was a small group of fairly tipsy guests at the bar OBVIOUSLY involved in loud drama that honestly no one care for in the dining area. That's not fair to blame the restaurant but I think it's worth mentioning that the dining area is surrounding the bar.
We will be back, no doubt, the best cuisine in the lake Ontario region and honestly the best all around (service, food, menu- both food and wine/spirits) we've had in NY.
Amazing as always
The service was amazing! My husband got the pork chop which looked amazing and he loved the seasoning but the chop itself was extremely fatty and the potatoes were cold.
As far as ambiance, some quiet background music would have offered a lot. We were seated in a separate room but could hear every conversation going on in the bar area which was distracting from our conversation at our table.
We love the river location and the view is beautiful. Staff is exceptional!
First time there, had a wonderful experience! Well worth checking out
Wonderful experience! Unique menu, especially for the area. Great ambiance in a cool building. After making my reservation on Open Table, a very friendly restaurant staff person called to offer a different seating time that would provide a table with a better view, given that we were celebrating our anniversary. They treated us to Prosecco upon our arrival. Looking forward to going again to see the view on a sunny day.
Wonderful food in a beautiful setting!
Finally tried the Chateau for brunch, and it was delicious. Food, cocktails, and service were all excellent, and the host was extremely gracious when kindly asking if our long lingering party would like to move to the bar (to free up the table), offering us a glass of prosecco. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other menu items - and cocktails!
Excellent service. Waiter was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Unique taste combinations.
Absolutely amazing brunch- from the mimosas and bloody Mary’s to the dessert and coffee- it was a brunch to remember!
Always always always a treat. Superb service. Great food. Beautiful views. And so reasonably priced. A favourite spot
Servers are awesome.. bartender mark was amazing.. oh and that Pete guy.. he was pretty great too...
The food is always fabulous! Love the incredible view of the River!
Nice evening with good friends. Great drinks, great food. Always a good time!!
This place is fantastic from the minute you walk up to the door! The staff is wonderful with great friendly service. The brunch menu is exquisite...making a selection is so difficult since there are so many delicious dishes to select from! The drink menu is just as much fun!! Could not pass up the root beer float with orange blossom basil ice cream! We were even offered tastings of their distilled spirits. This is a "do not miss" restaurant on the St. Lawrence River. I can't wait to sit outside to take in the views this summer....though we will be back before that!! A+ on every level!!!!
The best dining experience anywhere by far! The food is excellent - chef Ives is always amazing! Our server is excellent - we have had her a few times now ! Pete was awesome with his wine recommendations! Over all , by far the most relaxing and best dining experience you could ask for !!
Food was delicious, servers were very nice and accommodating. Building was beautiful. Drink selections were fun!
Amazing food, gorgeous place, friendly wait staff. Could not ask for a better place to spend my birthday.
We went for a Saturday brunch. It was absolutely wonderful. I have never been and was pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious, the staff was so kind and attentive. They were knowledgeable about the history of the Château which we found very interesting. I left there and sent a message to family members at how wonderful it was. We will definitely be back
Fish fry and broiled fish dinners were delicious. Bananas foster was prepared table side and was excellent as was the carrot cake.
At least 2 weeks ago, I made a reservation for a Christmas Brunch for myself, Mom, sister, niece. It was very easy to do so via the 'Open Table' app. We were warmly greeted by Mark, who later gave me, my sister and niece a tour of the upstairs suites. Carissa was our server. She was knowledgeable and professional, attentive and fun. We ordered from the brunch menu, and the food was lovely to behold as well as delicious. This is a restaurant/dining experience which provides excellent value. Ambiance, historical interest, delicious food, stylish beverages. I will also mention that I had asked for a quieter room, so that we ladies could converse and catch up, and much to my delight, my request was honored. Thank you, Chateau and staff--may your success abound!
Fabulous Fish Fry!
One of our favorite spots for great food and craft cocktails... never disappoints!!!
We enjoyed very much our cocktails, appetizer and our dinners... we were the only ones there to begin with so I had actually expected a friendlier greeting from the host but he did end up being friendlier as the evening went on. Our waiter Donald was fantastic, friendly, was responsive, attentive and was real which is nice when you make a joke and they actually respond as opposed to other waitstaff we have encountered over the years. We will definitely be coming back again, I would have given 5 stars however like I said, the host was not extremely welcoming when we arrived.
Four hunters went for dinner on date night for the first time. For $50 for two we got a salad, main course which we had a Ribye steak and dessert of bananas foster served at the table. The setting of an old convent allowed for more private dining and was quiet. We enjoyed it so much we returned the next night for the fish special. The staff were all excellent from the greeter the wine steward the waitress and the bartender. All were knowledgable and welcoming.
Our only complaint was regarding the prime rib. We didn’t like it nearly as much as last year’s.
Great service and outstanding food
As always, an outstanding experience. The service, food and beverages were impeccable, we are looking forward to our next visit.
Amazing restaurant and bar with spectacular views. The meal and drink choices are immense and prepared the incredible thought and care. We love this place and will return as often as possible.
This was my first time at the Chateau and was impressed. I would recommend without hesitation and plan on visiting again. Great atmosphere, presentation, service and selection. Planning my next outing.
Is was my first time at the Chateau . The food was amazing right down to the Tiramisu! :-) Beautiful hidden gem on the St. Lawrence River!
