Outstanding, amazing food, top notch service, great beverage selection and the view.... Yeah. In short, a perfect dining experience
The Chateau far exceeded my expectations! It’s a true fine dining experience; exceptional food, fantastic view, historic setting, award-winning spirits made on premise and welcoming staff. Honestly, I can’t say enough about it!
Before going today for the first time, I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to afford it, so I tried the brunch and sat outside. Literally, I ate a farm-to-table specialty Eggs Benedict meal with homemade sausage, rosemary biscuit, local eggs and authentic hollandaise sauce for the same price I could have paid at a restaurant with quality that cannot begin to compare. They really have gone out of their way to accommodate and please their guests.
Yes, go for the special occasion and enjoy a world-class dinner... but I would also encourage you to go for the occasional cocktail, dessert, brunch early in the day or light fare in the evening outside. We’re so blessed to have it in our beautiful Clayton community!
The entire atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. The view is beautiful overlooking the Seaway. Inside the decor and the setting is just wonderful. The food is delicious. It is not inexpensive but the selection, preparation and flavors are worth it. The service is exceptional. The staff is well trained to make sure that you have all that you want. It is easy to have a conversation as the noise level is very low. There is a distillery on premises and the spirits are fantastic. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in fine dining experience to make sure they take in the Chateau when in the area
Asked for a private table outside to celebrate our anniversary and were seated indoors. Apparently outdoor seating is only for families and casual dining for some reason. It was just our table and a large 8 person table in the dining room so there was nothing private or romantic about our meal unfortunately. Also, the room was extremely hot with no air flow. Very disappointed as this was only one of 3 times a year we can actually afford it. Food and service was amazing as usual, but the heat, noise level and lack of privacy was disappointing. Next time we’ll go to Tin Pan Galley instead.
Best Place on the River to enjoy a thunderstorm and outstanding meal.
Great as alwa
Went for my 42nd wedding anniversary everything was excellent
Superior service, fantastic food and beverage options
Our experience was, as always, stellar and memorable at the Chateau. Our waiter, Damien, took wonderful care of us with charm and his special brand of refreshing humor. Our entrees were, without exception, masterfully executed and the wine list had many options to choose from. Note: One of the chateau's craft cocktails is a must before dinner!
YOU HAVE TO TRY BRUNCH AT CHATEAU... It is worth the drive and the view of the St. Lawrence River is amazing. Because this is a Distillery, the cocktails are super fun! Servers were very attentive although there should have been another bartender on duty as drinks came out slower than acceptable (Hey it was fourth of July weekend). You will see many local farms noted on the menu -farm to table. KUDOS to Chef Ives for keeping it real. We were a four top and enjoyed our experience. We enjoyed the St. Lawrence Empire Cream in our coffee, an excellent recommendation by our server. YUM. We enjoyed it so much that each couple bought a bottle. Our entrees were very good overall. One of our guests had Praise the Lard, unfortunately, it was very greasy, which was uncharacteristic of the dish. He did not complain (not his nature to draw attention) but as the host I felt bad. The table linen also needed to be pressed. Any fine dining establishment that uses linen should have it pressed..better to use placements or something else for brunch if dinner was too busy to turn it around well. Small distraction, but worth noting. We really do love the Chateau and have recommended and referred MANY people to dine there. We have also hosted special groups at Chateau. It is worth the drive! Give it a try!
Wonderful view delicious food well presented. Truly delightful. Our waiter Nathan was attentive and extremely helpful. Our children from out of town envy our ability to return over and over. I’d recommendation this for a perfect place to see the River while enjoying a splendid brunch. I love that we can order off the menu. Highly suggest a reservation.
Everything was exceptional except the fact that the place was unbearably hot. So uncomfortable that I couldn't wait to get out of the place. Our reservation was at 8:15. Cant imagine what it would have been like during the dinner rush. Thank God that I had on a very light dress. My poor husband had to keep wiping the sweat from his forehead. I used the menu to fan myself. The poor waiter looked like he was going to pass out at any moment.
Taking my foodie brother out
This was my first time after hearing a lot of great things about the restaurant. The sun was shining and we were asked if we wanted a table outside overlooking the river. We did. Service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful with all the choices on the menu. The food was definitely good, not the best I ever had (my breakfast was just a tad too salty) but overall I would go back again to try more of the food.
My wife and I went for Saturday Brunch at 10AM. My eggs benedict was reasonably priced and very good. My wife got a waffle filled with bacon which was very tasty as well. I had 2 mimosas(peach and pineapple combo) which were a bit pricey at $10 but certainly lived up to the price with how good they tasted. The service was top notch and you can’t beat the view.
Our first visit to the Chateau. Everyone was extremely cordial from the moment we arrived. The service was impeccable, and the food was amazing to say the least. The facility itself was beautiful, and to make a great evening even better, the sunset was beautiful. We will be back!
Fantastic fun of was excellent as well as service. Such a beautiful venue
Amazing. Views and food were perfect.
The bar has been raised in the Thousand Island region! Carefully cultivated farm to table menu with something for everyone. While the view from the patio is the real treat with passing ships a focal point the patio could use some warmth and finishing touches. A few scattered flower planters and table decor would send it over the top! Wait staff is professional and attentive.
Fantastic views, food, location, comfort and best of all the service!!!
My husband and I went to the Château for a quick getaway weekend. We chose to do their pairing dinner. It was great since we were able to try four entrées and a dessert all expertly paired with wine. The service is very friendly and helpful in addition to being top notch. The food is fabulous, we have eaten here before and is our reason for returning to Clayton. I rate this as one of the best places in the North country.
It was the first time at this place and we were impressed with everything. The service was excellent, the views fantastic and the food was great. Hopefully when we return, we will stay there for a night or two. We have already recommended the Chateau to all our friends on Facebook.
My husband and I have enjoyed going to the Chateau restaurant since it opened but we are finding it to be more and more difficult to order food as it is all so overdone with ingredients and sauces. Also we are finding that the food is not consistent. Additional attention to detail needs to be done. It would be great if there were some more simple items; great quality and preparation but in a more healthy way.
Staff was outstanding, everyone was extremely friendly. All of the food was spectacular. By far the best restaurant in the area.
We love this restaurant and it has a killer view! Great food & service, too!
We love everything about the Chateau..the food the atmosphere. Definitely a must go to
A great dinner for a special event like an Anniversary, or birthday. Beautiful setting and great service. The food was wonderful and obviously prepared by an experienced chef.
We had a very nice meal, the food was amazing.
Everything from start to finish was fantastic! We especially enjoyed the mint jelly on the watermelon and halloumi salad...best I’ve ever had! The chef must have spent years perfecting the recipe. We will be back!
Expansive views, food is top notch, service is extremely good and very friendly
We had a great time! Sat at bar to begin while we waited for friends. Julie is a great mixologist AND great conversationalist.
We chose restaurant week to have dinner as it’s a good deal for your money. My companions had the walleye cheek stew, myself the ‘ everything duck’ for appetizers. Three lamb dinners and the shore dinner. For some reason I thought the shore dinner would be grilled but nevertheless delish! Three chocolate carrot cakes and one key lime pie set us over the edge!! Stuffed!!
All very professionally presented with attentive wait staff yet not overly ‘attentive’.
Would like to return when the sun is shining to enjoy the deck.
The food was wonderful. The view was amazing. You have to go knowing that your going to pay more than a typical brunch but since I had a friend in town it was well worth it. When we were there it was mostly adults with a few kids at tables. I could not hear table to table. Service was very efficient and made us feel welcome and not rushed. I look forward to going back. If I have to have a negative it is not somewhere I would take someone who is a very picky eater. The picky eaters don't know what they are missing.
Food was delicious and the staff made you feel special. Will definitely be back
Lobster in pasta dish was a little tough, too spicy. The sliced tenderloin was sliced in half, not strips I envisioned. ( one half was medium as requested, the other medium rare ) . The lime dessert was fantastic !!!.. Food, Good to very good, PRICEY, but not great !
I was a bit underwhelmed by the two swallows I received in my glass of wine. My suggestion is give the customer a decent glass of wine and, if necessary, raise the price. Customers don't come to the Chateau because it is an inexpensive place to eat. Being scrimpy with the wine is not good public relations.
We have had brunch here several times - it's a good way to experience the Chateau at a cheaper price point the dinners (also very good; but a bit expensive). We were expecting to eat inside; but the fog lifted and we were able to eat outside with a great view of the river.
The food and service were great, as always.
We felt welcome from entering the door until we exited. Such a relaxed atmosphere. Very soothing background music which made for comfortable conversation (not having to shout over the music as you have to in many restaurants of today). The waiter was very efficient and friendly and we enjoyed our conversation with him. We enjoyed the Grilled Halloumi & Watermelon Salad with a very unique taste. Both my husband and I chose the Saffron & Lobster Pappardelle Entre' which was so delicious, a bit spicy, but very good. I did not want to leave without having dessert so I brought home a huge portion of the dinner. We split a serving of carrot cake for dessert which was a very satisfying finish to the wonderful experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Amazing wait staff. Julia is our favorite server. Her professionalism and bright personality enhanced our dining experience everytime
Amazing experience, definitely going back and would recommend to anyone looking to enjoy excellent food and drinks.
This is a very fine dining experience. The food and service is superb. The waitstaff is very attentive and knowledgeable. I can't say enough good about Chateau.
