Best value for money authentic dimsum restaurant in Greenwich.
I made a booking via open table for 2/12 after lockdown only to find it was closed until Friday
We have our favourites and we are always happy with them! Very nice!!
Crispy dough chenfung and tripe, and dim sum all good
Located below the Holiday Inn Express near the O2 centre. Saikei is a large restaurant, typical of many Chinese places in that decor is bland and basic. However, the service was prompt, the drinks list more than satisfactory and with a very extensive menu.
The starter of Peking Duck was delicious and the three mains, chicken yellow bean sauces crispy chilli beef & crispy pork belly were all very good. Portions were huge and next time we visit we’ll either bring more friends to share three dishes or order far less.
A good place for large gathering of friends or family who will create their own ambience - as there is little ‘atmosphere’ - probably not a first date / romance place!
Favourite chinese dim sum in the area
We enjoyed the lunchtime dim sum very much and we will be returning to have more soon!
Thank you to the harding working staff at Saikei!
the service was terrible, i booked a table for 20:30, after arriving 10 minutes early we could not find parking. when we go in saikei finally at 20:30 we had to wait at the door for over 10 minutes. when the manager finally came to us he told us that we could not get any food as they were closed. i am disgusted at this service and will not be eating here again.
Never order anything with chicken / all three dishes were the same -
pre processed - !!!!
Table was booked , clean but not all foods , was available on menu. Overall polite service.
The food was very good as usual. With the spaced out tables, it was a much nicer dining experience than the old set up. The only downside was our booking was for 8.15pm but the restaurant closed at 9.00pm, so we ordered and ate within 45 mins!
An all round great experience. Food is excellent, ambience is good however, I believe the service could do with some touching up as there seems to be a lack of organisation with how to take orders and rather to get the attention of a waiter, you have to physically call for them which I don’t personally like doing as I find it rude to do.
Really good food and good service. A lot of sanitizing and social distancing.
Visited first time in nearly 14 years or so. The restaurant inside is just how I remembered it. It could do with a refurbish. The dim dum was good and the service was excellent. Temperature checks carried out and staff wear masks. Social distancing not great.
I love dimsum, infact, I've been to Seikei before and thought it was good for the area. However, this last visit got me feeling anxious. There was not only no social distancing, it also was unhygienic. Maybe these things I would never would have noticed pre-pandemic... but everyone was on top of each other (i went on a Weds whilst the government 50% off scheme was running). In fact, I was conscious of smelling other people's breath. The menus were covered in food stains, at one point, the waitress came over with other table's used plates to take our order. She put the used plates on our table, then with the same hand, moved our cutlery aside so she had space on the table to write on our order form. We anti-bac'd what we could, but that didn't fill us with much confidence. Dimsum averaged about £5 a dish (ranging £4.50-£5.50), which is ok, if it wasn't for the dimsum size to be more stingy than other restaurants in Central London (noticeably, the har gau, sui mai was tiny, the tofu pork roll was really short, the pan fried turnip paste had less meat than usual- you get the gist...). Also, please be aware they add a £12.5% 'discretionary fee' on the bill. Finally, if you are still planning on going even after reading this review, top tip: if you're going during the govn 50% off scheme, make sure you book- we did and was able to go to the front of the queue (there were about 150ppl easily in the queue). Make sure you bring your mask and anti-bac wipes too... Good luck!
Had pre booked table but once there still had to wait over 30 minutes for table. I also had to chase up too. Walk in customers had quicker wait times which was unfair. What's the point in pre booking if you still had to wait when you get there. Also the waiters did not inform us that some dishes were unavailable when ordering. Only found out about them when they did not arrive and asked but still were charged! Check bill when paying. Disappointing experience.
A few of our dishes didn't arrive and wasn't told about it being sold out until we asked where our dishes where at the end of the meal. Also what's the point of booking in advance when you still have to line up.
Great dim sum. No nonsense service as expected in traditional Chinese restaurants. Don’t expect western service smiles.
Staff were all wearing masks and taking precautions to keep appropriate distance. Tables also set up with distance between them and being cleaned between each use. We felt safe coming to eat here and food was delicious as always. Really glad its opened again!
Service was bad due to the limited staff during the COVID-19 situation. The dim sum portion is small and not enough in my opinion. There is room to improve.
Visited for Chinese New Year 2020. Booked through OpenTable but when we arrived they did not have our booking listed, but they managed to sort it out. Waitress was very nice, polite and helpful with our allergy questions. Food was good but did not come out at the same time as promised - first half of food took 30 minutes and then we waited about 45-60 minutes for the rest of the food to arrive. Even people seated after us had received all their food. Our waitress realised half our food was missing and quickly asked the kitchen to sort it out, which they did. All the staff were very nice and friendly.
Absolutely awful service we. The food we ordered came out cold. The waiter took it back and said it should be warm so he would bring it back warm. It returned still quite cold and when we complained a different waiter told us we were wrong and that it should be cold. Food was not great. Extremely overpriced for cheap mass produced chinese.
Been here lots of times always lovely food and very reasonably priced.
Booked a table online and travelled an hour to get there then were refused to go in because we were 10 mins late. Even we explained we were late because of the Christmas shopping traffic and we traveled a long way just for their restaurant. No customer service at all, really angry that we have to return for nothing.
Food was very yummy and very good value! Went for the set menu for 8 people which comes with 2 lobsters with noodles, a large turbot(fish), chicken and 5 other dishes plus dessert! Absolutely wonderful!
The food is of excellent quality. I would give it 10 stars if I could!
The staff the greeted us at the entrance was lovely. She had a smile on her face, was polite and lead us to our table.
However the service at the table was not great, trying to get attention of the staff was quite a task and the 12.5% service charge on top of the bill I really didn't feel they deserved at all.
The toilets were old, dilapidated and dirty.
Our favourite Chinese dim sum restaurant. Good tasty and well cooked basics and noodles. Ling quese, so we always go later on a Sunday. I would defn also go for dinners. Despite going nearly twice a month for last 6 years or so, they don't recognise customers. So expect them to give you any more attention that a standard China town chinese restaurant. Service is not their strong point. Really probably due to how busy it is. And it's always busy. Have roast duck and anything from dim sum menu.
Sakei dim sum lunch is normally quite good. This time we go for dinner and very disappointed. The chicken dish were worse than ordinary take away. It’s getting quite expensive for mediocre food.
Decent dim sum, popular with the local crowd. Their beef black bean horfun is good, a fair portion, horfun not broken up like in other restaurants, and not too oily.
Very poor customer service. Manger on the floor very unwilling to compromise. Simply cared about her own pocket rather than the customers experience. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone attending with more than 1 person. The only thing that saved this restaurant from a 1 star was that the food wasn’t awful.
Good food and good service
My only complaint is we found the TV screens continuously showing a loop promoting the restaurant distracting. Turn them off in the dining area please.
Only negative would be that it could do with a refurbishment, chairs look dated, carpet tatty and bumpy, wouldn’t put me off though as the service is quick and the food is lovely. Staff friendly :)
Quality of food was good before but it dropped a lot during my most recent visit. Most were salty and some dim sums were not the same thing as I knew them traditionally. The waitress and the kitchen got forgot about our order and got it wrong for 2 times - all happened on the same order - so wrong that it’s hard to understand how it happened.
Every bit of the food is so tasty, delicious and good prices
As always, great food and presentation. We asked chef to alter a lamb dish for my young daughter who doesn't eat some of the sources - the dish was cooked wonderfully . Many thanks.
Dirty and very run down. Extremely poor service food was just dumped on the edge of the table. We won’t be back.
Great food . Staff hang around the table a lot making you feel you need to eat quickly.
Me and my friend booked this restaurant as we were staying in the Holiday Inn Express next door and going to a concert at the 02 Arena very close by. Rather than have fast food at the arena we thought we would have a lovely meal as part of a special weekend. Very disappointed unfortunately as soon as we walked into the restaurant. First impressions tired and empty! It's a large space but only a couple of tables were booked. The staff were kind of friendly but not very professional. The table settings were mish mash and it just felt wrong. Ladies loo depressing. However, when the food came it was good. No complaints there. So we left feeling let down. This restaurant has a captive clientele with the amount of people going through the hotel - it should be packed and fabulous. Thank goodness Andrea Bocelli was amazing.
The restaurant had good parking .The food was hot and tasty. The waitress was helpful and looked after us well .
