Saigon Sisters Ratings and Reviews
Superb service. Very attentive staff from entry to exit. Excellent spicy beef noodle with egg entree -- absolutely DELECTABLE.
Have already recommended this venue to friends... Quite enjoyable dining experience. This was my first visit and I will absolutely fine there again. (I went based on recommendation from a business colleague)
Hadn’t been to downtown Chicago in over 10 months, so seeing that Saigon Sisters was going to open a new location, we made a trip into the city for dinner. There was a new menu since we last dined and they now serve their tasty popular sandwiches at dinner as well as lunch. Yet they retained the great food from their night menu as well. Had to have the Bahn Mi (classic), if only to take half for the next day. That was followed by a papaya salad and crispy spring rolls, which should have been enough food, but be the gourmands (gluttons with a little education) we are, we kept ordering. Chris is used to serving us excessive amounts, but knows we like to tasting everything. The whole fish and octopus were wonderful, the whole fish being a slightly new preparation (to us) and we loved it (as did another table). The food certainly isn’t suffering because of their expansion. We wish Mary and Dan the best for their new project on Lasalle Street. Our only complaint is that they are too far away from us to dine on a more regular basis. Maybe a Wisconsin location, or even in the UP? Still our “go to” restaurant in downtown Chicago.
My friend was served the wrong entre. they took it back and offered to remake it--but it took them maybe 15 mins, so by the time she had her food, mine was nearly gone/cold. then they offered her a bit of extra wine to make up for the error...and after we paid and left, we realized we had been charged for an entire 2nd glass! The food we got was good, but as far as it being a good dining experience...no.
I had a reservation at 7:30, there weren’t any tables available so we sat at the bar and had some drinks. The place was packed! Drinks were delicious the Spicy Margarita hit the spot with some appetizers. We had the spring rolls which were absolutely amazing, they were so fresh!
We were finally seated ordered drinks which took forever. We all ordered something different. One had the spicy noodle that was in special which tasted great. The Pho as always was perfect and tasted authentic. The bowls were hearty with fresh food. All in all it was great the service could of been a bit better but he food is to die for. I’ll be heading back soon!
Invited a friend to join me for lunch to try some Vietnamese. The server was attentive and friendly. We ordered salads which were both delicious and filling. The only minor complaint I have is that the table are small and close together which makes having a private conversation a bit difficult. I've been here before and will return again often as it is within walking distance to my office.
Excellent, fresh food and nice experience except for two things. First, the food took quite a long time - perhaps a mixup by the kitchen or waitstaff. We did get offered complimentary items as a result. Second, and more importantly, certain menu selections seem a bit overpriced. Bo luc lac was tasty but $24? Tea for $6? Mediocre stir fried vegetables side for $9? Chicago can be expensive, but value here was somewhat off from expectations of a fairly casual place. Overall, a very nice restaurant. Just give some thought when ordering.
Sadly we were not warned that the spicy noodle dish was spicy to the point of being inedible. My husband who is well tolerant of spicy food simply could not eat the dish. We didn't want to complain so left the food mostly uneaten. When the waiter asked if we wanted the rest to go, we said no and told him it was too spicy. He kind of shrugged his shoulders and cleared the plates. It would have been a nice gesture to at least discount the dish. Or better yet, give us a heads up that the dish was likely to cause an ulcer in the first place. Very disappointing for our last dinner in Chicago.
I liked this place a lot. The food was very tasty. The waiter was very friendly. The warm, dim lighting is cozy and romantic after the sun has started to go down a bit. You're right under the green line but I didn't really notice any distracting train noise. Reasonable priced, overall I'd say, though still a little pricey for a poor guy like me ;) I recommend Saigon Sisters.
I HAVE EATEN AT SAIGON SISTERS AT LEAST 10 TIMES AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING LESS THAN A FANTASTIC MEAL! THE SERVICE IS GREAT...FRIENDLY AND THEY REMEMBER YOUR NAME! NOT TO MENTION, THEY BROUGHT WINGS, WHICH MY HUSBAND AND I LOVE AND WANTED OUR SON TO TRY, FROM ANOTHER ONE OF THEIR LOCATIONS FOR OUR DINNER SATURDAY NIGHT!
Holy cow. This was worth the trip to Chicago. The Chicago style Pho dip Banh Mi was to die for. The meat is as incredible. Loved the Wagyu Spring Roll and Beef Pho also. Emperors Chamomile tea was unique and flavorful. The Vietnamese coffee is good and strong like it should be and the "Baognets" are a great finish. Everything was on point!
We visited for restaurant week. The Pho broth was amazing. Not too hot and not too cold. I made the mistaking of bringing my nearly two year old son. It was not a comfortable environment for him but the staff was friendly and did their best to make it work.
Once again, Saigon Sisters shines! This trip was with a couple of dear friends who were new to Chicago. They were blown away by the service and gracious welcome we received. The food was special and amazing. My hat's off to the staff for going the extra mile visiting with us about ingredients, cooking techniques and history of the dishes. A wonderful way dining experience. Thanks!
