For a unique dining experience, the Sahara Middle Eastern Restaurant is a venue worth visiting. This is authentic Moroccan and Lebanese food the likes of which cannot be found anywhere else in the Denver area. The hummus and couscous taste just like one would find in North Africa and Middle East, while the freshly basked naan complements both perfectly.
Sahara Middle Eastern Restaurant is decked out in traditional carpets and furnishings direct from Lebanon, recreating an authentic dining experience. The range of menu items personally created by chefs at Sahara Middle Eastern Restaurant keep guests coming back for more.
My wife and I have been coming here for years. Consistently good food, the hummus is outstanding! Good healthy food - well seasoned and fresh. Beware the tangines - they tend to be on the sweet side.
Thisa last trip was plagued by an inexperienced waiter. The effort was there, he just wasn't very good.
We will be back as this is the best mid-eastern food in the metro area.
Food, service, entertainment were all excellent. Music was too loud during the entertainment. Definitely will come back!
Food was good. I do not know much about this type of food, so it was a welcome adventure. Our server was very kind, but the timing of the meal was way off. We didn't receive our bread until our meal had been served to us for 10-15 minutes. We ordered a second round of drinks and that too was delayed beyond an excusable amount of time. For a $100 meal, I expect better service than what we received. Hopefully it was an off night and our next go around will be better.
Our dinner on March 31st was outstanding in terms of food (this lamb couscous is amazing!)... but the waitress was not good (did not know how serve wine properly, removed wine glasses before we were done with our bottle...)
We were seated right away. The staff was friendly and professional. The food came out quickly and it was absolutely delicious. A++
Our dinner at Sahara was very good. The food was tasty - my lamb was cooked to perfection with good seasonings, flavor and texture. The presentation was also nice, with some vegetables and rice. Others at our table enjoyed their meals as well. The stuffed grape leaves were also delicious.
We enjoyed our dinners and would go back.
I was in town with my vegetarian daughter and we both loved it. Lots of options and tasted great! Highly recommend!
We've been here many times, introducing to friends. The food is amazing and authentic and the owners and staff are wonderful. Great family-owner and local which we love to support. Highly recommended! Have never had a bad meal or dish here.
They invested a bit in the ambiance. A belly dancer too, not bad; although a little off-putting on a date.
Water was not refilled.
The food was decent but there is better in Denver.
The meals are always delicious at Sahara. The service is great and i have never had a bad dinner.
Great food, one of the best spots we’ve found for middle eastern cuisine. We will definitely go back!
One of my favorites. I can always count on great food!
Valentines Day
The appetizers were tasty, but a little on the small side. The lamb was very tender, but could have used more apricots, almonds, and rice. The baklava was excellent. Some of the tables are interesting geometric bas-relief. Chairs are a little rickety. Lighting could have been less bright for better evening mood.
I've been here several times for business and pleasure. The food is very good, prices is reasonable, decor is nice, the staff is very pleasant and adequately attentive. We had a reservation and arrived early; getting a table on a Wednesday night was no trouble at all.
Excellent food
The best middle eastern food I’ve had in the state of Colorado.
Made a reservation via OpenTable with a note that it was our first wedding anniversary - noticed after the dinner that none of the staff mentioned anything about it, which is not the biggest deal but why bother putting in a 'special occasion' then.
The service was good, however restaurant seems to have a confusing system: Waitress greeted us, waiter took our drink order and brought the drinks and waitress took food order but then waiter took over again. Therefore, we were not sure who was responsible for our table for a while. We let the waitress know in the beginning that we had an OpenTable Gift Card, she said she would take care of it towards the end of the meal. When the waiter brought the check I reminded him of the gift card which he didn't seem to know about, showing a lack of communication between staff.
The vegetarian platter (all vegetarian appetizers combined) was decent, however the couscous dish could have used some more spice to it - a little bland for my taste. Took the key lime pie to go which turned out to taste like a pre-packaged pie from the grocery store - definitely not worth $6.50 for a tiny piece.
The belly-dancer was great and generally the restaurant has a nice ambiance. The dishes containing meat are probably better spiced than the vegetarian options. Overall, Sahara will not become one of our favorite restaurants.
We have coming here for years. Family run mideastern food. The tandooris are a little sweet due to the fruit base but the kabobs and lamb dishes are excellent as is the spicy chicken dish. We come once a month and have never been disappointed.
Great food. The owners I assumed are right there making sure everything is good.
I will go again and I will recommended to my friends and family.
The service was really slow this visit. The food took a very long time to come out and no one came over to say anything about the hold up. When the food did come out everyone’s dinner was cold. They didn’t seem very busy so I have no ideas what happened. The other times I have been have been fine. Food still tasted good even if it took forever and was cold. We had to go so couldn’t be bothered to send it back.
Our lamb shank was fab. The others commented that it’s always a little better when the owner is there.
Delicious, authentic Moroccan good. The Tangine is a must!! Everything is fresh and so delicious!!
a long term favorite. Excellent middle eastern food every day and wonderful Moroccan tagines on Friday and Saturday dinner. Prices are reasonable for a very nice dining experience.
Delicious food. Good service. Good variety for vegetarians.
Tables and chairs wobbly/beat up. We were first in the restaurant that night and they stated that already some items were unavailable.
This was our second time dining at this location and experiencing Mediterranean food. Even though I had no idea of what it was that I was eating the flavors and smell of each item leaves you wanting more. Prices are reasonable and Saturday night Belly Dancing is an real treat and enhances the experience. We will be back again.
Great food. Best lamb dishes around! super nice people that work there.
Food was outstanding, server was polite, efficient and helpful with dinner selections. We will definitely dine at Sahara again and recommend it to friends.
My favorie restaurant and the Tagine on friday and saturday are a must!
This was the perfect spot to enjoy middle Eastern cuisine; even had entertainment thrown in, which we did not expect!
I have been having both business and personal meals here for years and would recommend it to anyone. I have never had a bad meal - the service is always great and I love supporting this restaurant.
We had a great Middle Eastern meal here. Party of 8 had plenty of space and yet we could all hear each other. The lamb with pine nuts was the most tender and flavorful I have ever tasted. Reasonable prices too. I will make an effort to return!
We had the lamb (Colorado Lamb), and it was melt in your mouth, fall off the bone delicious. The service was good. Ambiance could have been better. We could hear Middle Eastern music playing in one room, but we didn't get to hear it in the room we were placed in.
Nice change from Italian and Mexican. Food was very plentiful
Great little place to eat food from a different culture! We happened upon this place looking for a dinner from the non traditional sense!
This is a fabulous place for authentic great food..I love this place..
My fiance and I had a wonderful evening; the food was delicious, the service was great and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. Try the baklava!
The only thing that disappointed me about this experience was the ambiance. It was described as being "decked out in traditional carpets and furnishings direct from Lebanon, recreating an authentic dining experience", so I expected it to be similar to other Mediterranean restaurants where I've been seated on pillows and that the ceiling and walls would be covered in beautiful linens, etc., but it was pretty much a traditional restaurant with some nice art on the walls.
So, if you go in knowing that, nothing else will disappoint you. Everything from the appetizers to dessert was really delicious and the service was very good. It's a long drive for us, but I would definitely go back!
Great food- stuck in a corner so couldn't see the dancing very well. Music was good but way too loud at one point. Overall good- we'll be back again.
The experience and food was exactly what we were wanting.
