1/10/20 Johnny was running a packed house pretty much by himself. Solid professional. The cooks were on point (food was awesome). All in all a marvelous time.
Very ordinary food at extremely overpriced rates. Would not recommend this place to anyone worth their while.
Fabulous food, nice dining room, short-staffed but the chef and manager made up for it. Brief wine list but some decent ones
Took over 2 hours to get our food. Dishes were burnt and unexciting, “okay” at best. Went to this restaurant because they had last minute availability for NYE. Now we know why! Will never go here again
Amazing food! O loved the Sage Duck. The chef is quite personable. It's a perfect place for a special event.
Another excellent meal here! The food is delicious. We did get there at 5 as the Open Table site said they are open for Happy Hour at 4, but they do t open until 5:30. We told Chef Mohamed that we had theatre tickets and had to be gone by 6:30 and he was able to accommodate us. We will definitely be back!
Used to be a favorite -- before they moved to Berkeley and then returned to their old spot in the Hotel Carlton. Now the food was just plain boring. No real flavor. The menu is much more limited and they still were "out" of many dishes. The place was just about empty on a Friday night, which we now understand. Sad, but true: A once-excellent restaurant is now not worth visiting. Sorry.
Wonderful food, wonderful service!
My wife and I are foodies who regularly eat at all the well-known and most popular restaurants in San Francisco. We both believe that the food at Saha is as good or better than the food at any other restaurant in San Francisco and we spend less than half of what we do at the popular restaurants. We subscribe to ACT, and SF Playhouse and frequently eat at Saha before theater.
We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough!
So happy this restaurant reopened after revocations. The food it’s incredible and there’s nothing like it in SF.
Best food and dining value in the City
Great food and excellent service. Looking forward to coming back!
We loved the restaurant....great food, charming waiter and quiet. The restaurant is unassuming in appearance but top notch in quality of food and service.
This is my second time at Saha and it did not disappoint! Brought some friends who were blown away at everything they tried. Braised octopus salad, mushroom knaffe, black mujadara, lamb curry, vegan chocolate mousse (to die for) -- every dish a winner. $45 p fixe is a bargain. Get here now.
We have been eating at Saha SF, then Saha Berkeley, and now Saha SF again, for over a decade and are never disappointed. Every dish has complex and delicious flavors. The Saha SF location is intimate and great for a meal and conversation.
We had a group of 8 and we all loved everything about this place. Food was amazing and we tried a bunch of different dishes.
I love Saha and I love the chef Mohamad. We enjoyed the ravioli, the meat balls, and the chicken curry. Unfortunately this time our waiter and table service were poor - we waited a long time for the waiter to take our order... and actually watched a couple at the table next to us walk out because they hadn't been served. Can the waiter, keep the food!
We had a wonderful dining experience at Saha. It was a Thursday evening and the place was pretty empty except for a few customers at the bar. Mohammad, the owner, waited on us personally. We ordered almost every appetizer and a couple of the entrees. One of the appetizers we liked so much, we ordered a second one. The food was so flavorful and well prepared. We will definitely be back!
Limited wait staff, would take a while to get someone’s attention. Food was good, but not great. Painting of women in complete burkas on the wall. From the artistic stand point, I agree with freedom of expression. From a business standpoint, seeing women completely covered and in a position of submission is not what I wanted to see in a restaurant.
Absolutely delicious. We ordered an assortment of small plates and few entrees to share family style. We loved it so much we even re-ordered a couple items (the meatballs).
It was a very nice dining experience: food was excellent and staff was funny and friendly. We will definitely go back.
Amazing food and great service!! Highly recommend.
All good. The food is both comforting and delicious AND unusual. The fattoush was excellent as was the braised octopus starter. The wild mushroom knaffe was spectacular; artichoke heart small plate just a bit too spicy for my palate. I loved the duck and liked the lamb curry. Baklava for dessert along with the pear tart — oh, yes. Chef Mohammed is easy-going and knowledgeable. A very pleasurable evening. And they cater! We’re sold.
The food and service were outstanding, and the prix fixe was very reasonable - would definitely come back.
Hooray!! SAHA has moved back to San Francisco from Berkeley. The location is great, inside the Carlton Hotel. The beautiful fabrics and other decorations that were part of the ambiance before the move to Berkeley will be coming soon.
The food here is really special, not like other 'Middle Eastern' restaurants. We had the seafood tagine, and the black lentils with Forbidden Rice. Tons of flavor, and just a little heat. The Stuffed Beets and the Artichoke and Peas Tagine were delicious appetizers. They also offer a lot of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options too. Very friendly and efficient service, and you never feel rushed. Our new go-to place. And they are open for breakfast too! Try this place, you'll be glad you did.
This time our dining experience was not impressive as it was the first time. Food tasted overcooked or precooked and then reheated. Not sure if it was an off night because the restaurant was not even full to skimp on quality of food preparation.
Food is incredibly delicious and reasonably priced for San Francisco. The chef came out and spoke to each customer. I highly recommend this place!
Everything was delicious! Staff was very friendly and professional - will definitely visit again
Service Apia’s attentive. Menu is limited, a Yemeni chef/owner. Dessert was good. A salmon baklava was tasty. Lamb stuffed eggplant was ok, not so tasty. Mujahada of crusty black rice with tofu was the best seasoned. My red house wine was good. Ambience is an old former hotel restaurant, now in need of rehabbing. If you are looking for off the beaten track at a reasonable price, this is good.
It was a pleasant surprise.
Saha is a favorite! I’d be there every week if I lived closer and try many more dishes. As it is, I gravitate to my favorites. I had the pre-fixe: the fattoush salad, the duck bastilla, and the sage duck. My parents ordered the same items individually and added the salmon baklava. We’ve sworn we will go back soon to ensure we will be willing to try new things. Mohammed and his staff are excellent, warm, and welcoming. It was the perfect birthday meal. Mohammed even comped us a dessert, the vegan chocolate mousse, which was lovely, perfect to share.
WOW!!! Why haven't i heard of this place before? This was one of the most memorable meals of my life. I've eaten a lot of Mediterranean meals and this chef has a gift of combining flavors like no other. Some of the standouts were the stuffed beets, scallops, and mushroom knaffe. Vegans and vegetarians will thrill at the choices and flavors. The restaurant is inside of a hotel and not obvious from the street. We need to support this restaurant and its chef -- it was at this location before but not many people know they are back. AWESOME!!!!
This is really a find, great food, decent prices, nice people. I used to come here a lot and loved it, but unfortunately, the restaurant moved to Berkely. It is back now and as good as ever.
Chef Mohamed's creations are a real treat. They are truly unique so you are not going to get dishes you see anywhere else. Everyone I bring to Saha Lounge or his previous, Berkeley, restaurant is truly impressed with the whole meal. You can't go wrong.
Food was delicious. Server was warm and friendly. Chef came out to greet us. Overall, great dining experience!
Saha serves some of the best food in San Francisco. We brought friends who are foodies to introduce them to Saha and they loved every dish. We ordered 7 different dishes and that was just about right. The cost was surprisingly little, especially for the quality. Fresh ingredients, unusual flavors, and a terrific night!
Great food, nice to have Saha back in San Francisco.
Hands down one of the best taste experiences I’ve ever had. So glad Saha is back in SF. The staff is really approachable and knows the menu. We are already planning our next night out and who can handle all the taste without a category 5 meltdown. Zero chance you will disappointed.
Loved the food and owner very accommodating. Great service. Nice room. Will definitely come back.
Saha, located in the Carlton Hotel is one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in San Francisco. Every dish had us swooning in delight. I am so glad they returned to SF from the East Bay. All of our out if town guests want to go there when they return for a visit. Just delicious!!!
Saha is rated 4.6 stars by 77 OpenTable diners.
