2nd time here... came for my sister's birthday. We loved the atmosphere and the service. The food was very good. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the chocolate cake is a must have. Will definitely be back!
Excellent customer service! Delicious food!
Food wasn't hot & prices are high.
The food at Sage Woodfire grill was delicious, but our waitress was lacking. One person in my party ordered the surf and turf which was supposed to come with a loaded baked potato, what was received was a potato slapped onto the plate, unopened with none of the toppings. Our waitress said she was going to get toppings for the potato and never came back. Then after our meal, she didn't bother to ask if anyone wanted anything else, her only questions was will this be 1 tab or separate tabs? We were not finished, so we told her we wanted to see the dessert menu, she came back 10 minutes later and said, Oh I'll just tell you want we have. I and the others in my party felt like she was trying to rush us out the door. Also pet peeves of mine, leaving dirty appetizer dishes on the table after delivering entrée and not refilling water glasses.
I’ll try to be fair. First, the live music was way too loud. We couldn’t hear our waitress nor could she hear us. We had to shout to communicate. The house speaker system had annoying static. Complained and the manager turned down the music. Thank you! Next, when I looked at the bill, there was a $2.95 upcharge to “blacken” my salmon. Never had that before and it wasn’t disclosed or on the menu. Not a big deal, just the principle. Again, manager took care of it. Bottom line, I appreciated the managers attention to resolve my concerns but these are the types of annoying things that will keep people from coming back.
Very disappointed in food quality. My prime rib was cold, my potato was not done etc.
Great genuine service by Carlton. Great smile & very friendly & helpful. Only complaints were prices were a few dollars too high for similar entrees served @ comparable nearby restaurants. Live music (saxophone) was too loud too as compared to the background tracks w which she was playing. Her volume should’ve been lowered to make an overall better listening experience. I have missed Houston’s Wildwood since it’s untimely closure several years back, so it’s great to walk in Sage and feel it so close to the classic Houston’s atmosphere I enjoyed so much. Thanks for not completely redoing the place. I love it! I hope you stay there for many many more years!
The ambiance, food, and smooth jazz sounds set the atmosphere for a great birthday celebration!
Good service, as we were under a time constraint.
ABSOLUTEY FABULOUS!!!! The Service, Food, Ambiance were all spectacular.
Walking out the door after the fabulous evening all 4 in our party were discussing when we could retun for our next evening at Sage's Woodfire. It was Superb in every regard, Meatloaf, Prime Rib, Salmon, and yes: "the best hamburger ever"!
Thanks Sage's for the Best dining event and evening.
love the outdoor fire pit areas to have cocktails and appetizers maybe even dinner. Service is excellent. Nice menu with many options. the food was well prepared, good flavor and looked beautiful on the plate. Steaks cooked to perfection. Nice size potatoes with the condiments in a separate bowls. Dessert chocolate fudge cake was large enough to share and very tasty. Ambiance a bit dark when trying to read menu. They had live saxophone music the night we were there. very enjoyable evening.
Ahi tuna was cooked done and steak was stringy. The service however was great and very friendly.
Overall it was good, the restaurant seemed very dark. I understand the ambiance, but for lunch it was quite dark and it made the menu hard to read as well as seeing what you were eating.
Waiter was too talkative and took forever to get drink orders taken. Pricey menu. Love calamari, but it was so spicy I couldn't eat it. Pecan crusted halibut was ok. Loved sitting by the fire pits outside after dinner.
Good food, great service. Service was prompt which was nice for a business lunch.
We ate outside, weather was beautiful ,service was exceptional and food was great.
We enjoyed ourselves, the service was impeccable!! Totally made our date amazing! Our glasses of water didn’t even get half empty. We tried the strawberry lemon drop -omg it wa so good, had to order two. The food was good, but the Service sets this place apart! We definitely recommend it for a nice evening of conversation, drinks and a bite!
Our first visit was great and we enjoyed the live music. Out door seating around fire pits was very inviting but we decided to dine indoors. Began with the calamari and thought it was seasoned well. The ceaser salad was large and delicious- served as whole Romain leaves, not chopped. My son had the ribeye and said it was cooked perfectly and loved the asparagus and baked potato with all the trimmings. I ordered the ahi tuna salad and would definitely order it again. Lovely, attentive waiter, too!
Great atmosphere and good food!
Me and my boyfriend decided to try out the restaurant and we enjoyed the atmosphere, his dish was excellent but my dish, scallops was tasty but maybe they weren’t fresh and I got sick. We will go back and try it again.
Our server was most gracious. The entire experience was superb!
Nice menu, wide variety of appetizers and salads, seafood and steaks. Live music can make some sections of this former Houston’s restaurant louder than others.
Overall very good.
Food was on point. We had Amber as our server and she was amazing. Also was impressed with the teamwork displayed by the entire staff. Definitely would recommend.
Wonderful seafood & excellent service! Atmosphere was lovely also. We will return!
Food was fine but a bit overpriced. Menu prices should be
$7-$10 less per entree than what is being charged. Not special enough to charge $35 for a petite steak or salmon.
Our well drinks were heavily watered down as they were loaded with ice. Waiter talked us into the King filet and it wasn’t even as good as a chain steakhouse. Service was really slow. Waiter seemed new despite stating he had been there for a year. Waiter didn’t even check in during the main course. Save your $ and stick with what you know is a solid middle of the road steakhouse chain. It would have been better than this.
The ambiance was very sexy on Valentine's Day. The live jazz and firepits gave it an appealing flare. We loved the food and the portions. Will definitely be back!
The staff was awesome, but, our appetizer never came out, my potatoes where cold had to send them back and I wasn't a fan of the chicken.
I have visited Sage Wood Fire Grill Perimeter and was expecting a similar experience. However, I was disappointed. I realize this restaurant location is new for this concept but I would have thought the kinks were worked out by now. We had the Bang Bang shrimp which was an undersized appetizer and I had a wedge salad that had a 'sprinkling of tomatoes and bacon bits'. The point of a wedge salad is to have plenty of flavor (e.g. bacon and tomatoes) for the flavorless iceberg wedge. For our entrees, I ordered the Blackened Ribeye with a loaded baked potato and roasted asparagus. The steak was exceptionally fatty (yes I know ribeyes are marbled) and for the price was a small cut and as far as flavor it was mediocre. The 'loaded' baked potato was served with butter only. My wife ordered the Goat Cheese Chicken and she enjoyed it, although she was not expecting bone in chicken. As far as the ambiance, it was cozy and they had a live saxophone player who was entertaining. The food from a flavor profile was comparable to what I would expect at Applebee's, not from an upscale casual dining. Overall I was disappointed and will most likely not return.
Great environment and good food. Good service and will definitely return. Referred friends to try this romantic restaurant.
Sage Woodfire Tavern was a nice restaurant. The live band was really really good and I don’t know if that was just because it was Valentine’s Day. The food was decent not bad but definitely overpriced. I would recommend for a special date but wouldn’t necessarily be my first choice of places. More like a third choice. But overall it was a nice time and dinner.
The dining experience was good, however a fight occurred in the kitchen between two female employees that spilled into the dining area where everyone witnessed on Valentine's night. The managers came to each table an apologized and took 50% off our bill which was nice to see. We'll probably visit again in the future, but it maybe later in the year.
The food was just okay nothing to really rave about.. I had the goat cheese chicken which wasn’t really tasty..
Excellent food. Excellent service. Highly recommend.
Ambiance is fantastic, just like the Houston's that was formerly here. Dark wood interior, stacked stone, nice moderate lighting, cool stone fire pits outside. Love it. Keyboardist added a bit to the ambiance. Bar scene was fairly quiet on the Saturday night we went. However, there are 2 major issues.
The first is parking. You have to drive through a valet and ask to self-park. That is the opposite of how it should be done. When Houston's was here, it was the same way, and often you had to park across the street because spots were held for valet in the main lot. Not customer-friendly.
However, the most significant issue is pricing. My old fashioneds were $12 and most entrees were $30 and up. The two of us had a few drinks and dinner and spent $172. You can find comparable prices in New York City! (Yes, I visit there frequently on business). I was in sticker shock. Is Sage that much of an upgrade (if any) over Houston's? Because the prices are 50% higher.
The food and service were amazing!
We had a great time! The food was great and the live music was as well! We will definitely visit again!
Overall great place to have a nice dinner, drinks & enjoy the live band.
Received a call from the manager informing us that our reservation was being cancelled because the restaurant would be closed. If that was the case, why was the reservation time showing as available when I booked the date/time? Very dissapointing considering the circumstances (we were planning to celebrate a 10 year anniversary). We certainly won't bother making plans to go here in the future.
Definitely happy to have a venue like this nearby.
The live music was a nice touch - single performer so not too loud.
Background music could be toned down a bit.
Looking forward to returning.
