Wonderful service and delicious dinner!
Won't serve bread; won't split dishes in the kitchen. There doesn't seem to be much concern about pleasing the guest.
It was a fabulous culinary experience and Jordan made the adventure even greater! The 4 of us all had different meals that we all tried and all spectacular. It was a nice setting and we will be back! The wine list is great and the prices very reasonable! A must try in Sarasota
It was awesome!! A total experience from drinks to the food. In town for the week but going back again tonight. I can’t wait.
Great atmosphere , very unusual menu
Jesse, our waiter, gave us a tour and every recommendation he made from the menu was exceptional loved it and definitely coming back.
The food is always amazing. We brought out of town guests here and they loved it. The service was good, attentive but not overly in your face.
Other than the weird little mishap when we arrived slightly early for our 5:00 PM reservations (only thing available was really early or really late so book well in advance)-the door was open but we were asked to leave because they were not open yet and having their prep meeting. Got to admit I was very concerned that this wasn’t going to be a good night. Once we were allowed in the service was great, food excellent and the rooftop bar had a great atmosphere. Jordan was a wonderful server and would ask for him again. Fish cooked in parchment was the best out of the 4 meals ordered but everything was great.
Beautiful restaurant with a lot of ambiance. Service is excellent. Our waiter, Jordan, was friendly, knowledgeable and thoughtful. The salmon appetizer was really delicious and we enjoyed the specialty drink too.
First timers at this restaurant. Beautiful building. Nicely decorated and plenty of room. Food was good. Three out of four entrees were excellent. Fourth was very good but slightly overcooked. Our server, Courtney, was attentive, knowledgeable which made the experience more delightful. Desserts were unique and tasty. We will go back in the near future.
Great! Our server was terrific! Candle in dessert was a nice touch.
My husband and I both ordered a chicken dish with a topping of walnuts & pumpkin seeds with a maple glaze. Both dishes came out so overly seasoned with cardamom that the dish was inedible. We have eaten at Indian restaurants quite often, and are used to spicy food, but this was over the top and the flavors were not balanced at all. Our tongues were on fire. The wait staff was extremely accommodating as was the manager, and wanted to give us a replacement dish. We ordered the ox tail osso Buco, but without the escargot purée. That, in and of itself is quite an odd pairing. Anyway, what came out was bones with sauce. There was no meat at all! Until the chef gets his act together, and really has a sense of who he is and what he wants to offer the patrons, I would suggest not going here.
Meal was over-priced for the quality. And I don’t think they could have served an even smaller glass of wine than what they delivered to us. Overall, a very disappointing experience.
It's been a while since we said "oh, wow" about a restaurant in Sarasota. Executive Chef Covelli has put quite a team together, including a top notch bar staff, that serves up an array of world cuisines and creative cocktails. Don't pay attention to the complaints on social media - this place is buzz worthy.
We asked our excellent waitress Courtney for a special bourbon drink, and she got beverage manager Connor to concoct a smoked bourbon cocktail for us, which was his take on a Sazerac. Fun, and delicious.
The lobster bolognese is a must - we just hope it stays on the menu.
This is one of the few Sarasota restaurants that has a dedicated pastry chef, and it shows. Save room for dessert.
A little more extensive menu choices would be good. But what ordered was very good. Our waiter Kyle was exceptional.
The absolute best food in Sarasota...you must dine here!
We had a really nice evening at Sage. The service was
excellent as was the food. The wine selections were
very good. It made our list of ‘go to’ places. We are
in Sarasota 5 months a year and will definitely recommend
Beautiful restaurant with an outstanding rooftop bar. Food and service is top shelf. We’ve been there before and will be back many more times.
Had friends from NY and they were impressed, the presentation the chef created was amazing. This has moved up to one of our favorite places!
Chef Covelli makes the experience at Sage memorable. We enjoyed the lamb, Thai Bouillabaisse and Lobster Bolognese . The server was skilled and meal was well timed between courses. Dessert was exceptional. WE are fans of Sage and will continue to be as the menu always changes.
Food and service were both amazing. Great for any special occasion.
Amazing! Great food and excellent service.
Make your reservations ASAP! Sage is one of those rare places that shines with love. The building restoration was obviously a labor of love and sets a wonderful standard for other establishments to note. Our delicious food was beautiful in every way - from presentation to finish it was a delight to enjoy a meal that was obviously lovingly, skillfully and carefully prepared. We’re fairly certain the pastry check is actually an angel because the desserts were otherworldly in the best possible ways. Sages staff understands southern hospitality-they are gentle and attentive while being discrete in their service. I am purposely not reviewing the actual food we ordered because I suspect everything on the menu is delicious and it all deserves to be enjoyed. I will be back with friends again soon and will of course order something different to try. I can’t wait!
All gourmet food was spectacular. Lobster pasta and Thai bouillabaisse were done to perfection. Very nicely remodeled. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Will return.
This was my first visit to Sage SRQ. The ambiance was wonderful...layout, decor, etc.
The lobster bisque was delicious. I was dismayed to find that the plates were not heated for such a fine establishment and noted such to the waitstaff. The oxtail osso bucco with the escargot puree was just ok, not fantastic. It was a lot of smaller pieces which made it hard to get the meat off the bones. It should have just fallen off. The food was not "hot" and the plates were not hot either. The grilled endive was nice but the overall dish was disappointing. I had higher expectations. My partner had the fish special which was delicious. I may consider a second try.
Regarding Service, the waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. We only ordered a Main Course each and it took far too long to get it on our table especially since the restaurant was only about half full or less. We sat down at 6:30PM. But we would give it another try.
Food quality was good however the servings were small but we wouldn’t recommend. The spices used are unusual and there wasn’t enough choices for a picky eater. My husbands vegetarian entree was extremely small portion and he said it tasted like straw. They ran out of the duck special by 6:30 we were very disappointed because that was something we would have ordered.
Great experience. Our server, Jordan, was once again exceptional.:
So glad we tried Sage. We live here in the downtown area, and always meant to, but were mindful of people saying that it was expensive. We don’t mind expensive, but do not like to not get value for the money. Honestly, this restaurant was superb! Very delicious food. Not any more expensive than other high end restaurants in town. Service was spectacular, and the ambiance was beautiful and had a very cool vibe. This will definitely be on regular rotation for date nights for hubby and me!
One of the very best in Sarasota . Celebrated my wife’s birthday with friends, she loved her food and the ambience.
I honestly think our server was high on something. He couldn't get his words out when we were asking questions about the menu, he would just ramble and had no idea about the food on his menu. He kept telling us about his lactose intolerance, seriously?!? Then when I ordered a glass of wine he had the nerve to ask me if I just wanted to buy a whole bottle so he wouldn't have to tip out the bar! Are you kidding me?!?
The menu is extremely limited and mediocre at best. The ambiance though, wow... it's a gorgeous venue.
Exquisite in every way! We will be back and soon. The bartenders are true craftsmen and all the knowledgable staff are clearly there to work and engage with the customer. The food was inventive, fresh and beautifully prepared.
It was great ambiance...very cool design and a nice vibe for a cocktail, but the menu was a push. Definitely trying too hard to be trendy and when you finally chose an entree, it is disappointing. I would go back for a cocktail at the bar, but not for a meal.
Food wasn’t great. I’m from NYC so food at that price should be above standard. It was mediocre and lackluster. Boooo do better.
Nice venue and 2nd time eating here. Something about the place doesn't work. Food portion small and no bread offered or potatoes. (Many reviews about this) Not a massive problem but when you consider the prices they charge you leave feeling you have been taken advantage of
We were pleasantly surprised, having read some critical reviews.
The place is spectacular, the service is first class, and the food eclectic and great.
Like no other place in Sarasota.
Outstanding in every way! I would recommend that you ask for Jordan.
Menu limited. High cost of food and drinks not worth price.
No potatoes or bread.
Pate was without cracker, bread anything.
Not going back
Waited at hostess desk for the server to seat us, which took 10 minutes. He seemed new, rehearsed lines. White wine was warm and was told red & white kept in same cellar. Had to wait for it to chill. Out of fish special. My tuna was not an entree, no vegetable or starch, the puréed edamame was tiny dollops along the plate, more a decoration. It was plain, thinly sliced tuna with no flavour. And rather expensive.
Ran out of fried ice cream. We were told the regular baker was off and the replacement didn’t do a great job with pavlova. Had dessert, it was decent. It became laughable when we were told the server had to escort us to the washroom. Will not return.
Great meal, service and atmosphere. Can’t wait to go again
