Sage Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Sage has become our local favorite. Staff welcomes you and means it. Food is farm (or ocean) to table, always fresh, and absolutely delicious. I am GF with some other food concerns, and they easily accommodate me every time. Noise level is ambient, and easily allows conversation at the table or bar. Bartender is entertaining. For my husband’s birthday, they put a customized twist on one of their desserts and did not charge us for the dessert as their gift to him. We love going there with friends who have not been there before and see how many hidden images they can see in the tree of life painted on the back wall. Parking is free. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Our 2nd time at Sage Bistro & the food was just as good as the first time (and why we came back). Our waitress however was working in slo-mo and completely unable to multitask. She took 10 minutes to figure out we were there, then brought water, 10 minutes later took our drinks order... you get the idea. They weren't that busy and she only had 2 other tables that I could see. When we finally got to order (almost 45 minutes after we arrived) she double checked that the special that 2 of us were ordering was still available, it wasn't, fine we ordered something different. Then... 10 minutes later she came back and told us that the other special that 2 of us had ordered was also gone! So they had reorder "Oh let me get you menus... Should of brought that with you. Needless to say our reservation was for 6:45 - we didn't leave till 9pm.
My wife and I have made this our go to place in the Cocoa Beach area for a nice evening out. As usual, they did not disappoint. My wife had the schnitzel and it was perfect. I however, could not decide, so I put it to the chef to serve me his choice. What came was a wonderful Bison Shepherd's Pie! In my opinion, Sage is the ONLY upscale dining establishment in this area worthy of a visit.
Our evening started with a greeting from Sarah and a description of what the chef was preparing. We were celebrating a birthday - and Sarah went out of her way to ensure that it was a delightful event. The appetizers where plentiful and tasty, the entrée incredible.
Shared deserts followed and we were fortunate enough t have the pastry chef present and could give him our thanks.
This little gem is truly worth a drive for a wonderful evening of any kind.
Food was good once we got it. Service was lacking, because the server forget to reserve food (lobster pot pie) and it was given to other tables, so my spouse had to reorder, and then my food was wrong once it arrived. It took 75 minutes to get our food for a table of 2. They did NOT offer to reduce bill or give free items to make up for their mistakes. Rookies!!!!
Fabulous from start to finish! The food was fresh, made from scratch and creatively delicious. The service was exceptional, attentive but not intrusive. The two of us started with mouth watering hot bread straight from the oven, then shared an appetizer of tuna poke with seaweed salad over rice. I am not usually a fan of raw fish, but the tuna was so fresh and so well-prepared that I ate it with gusto. I had a side salad with rich, made-from-scratch chunky blue cheese dressing, and my husband had the Hungarian beef soup, which I tasted. The rich creamy paprika-flavored broth was inspired, and the beef was tender and abundant. For the main course I had shrimp with bacon in pesto cream sauce and my husband had sea bass. Both were absolutely wonderful--the chef knows how to season to perfection without overpowering the fresh taste of the ingredients. We drank a Hahn pinot noir that was suggested to us, and it was the perfect accompaniment to both dishes. We finished our meal with made-from-scratch desserts. My husband , who almost never orders dessert, loved his strawberry-rhubarb crisp, and I had the best chocolate mousse I've ever tasted, rich and light at the same time. All in all, a very memorable dining experience. I can't wait to go back!
I had the chorizo encrusted sea bass, it was outstanding. Overall great experience my mom had an issue with her meal but they fixed it and compensated the entire entree. My son may have a gluten allergy but they have a pretty extensive GF menu. My wife had the chicken pasta special and it was amazing.
This is a marvelous restaurant and an exceptional addition to the dining options in this area.
The standard menu is wonderfully complete, and the daily specials that are prepared by its outstanding chef are unique, extremely interesting and wonderfully tasty.
A visit here could disappoint no one...there is something yummy for everyone!
The old Izzys, now the Sage Bistro continues to provide a great place for dinner. Too few good choices around here, but this is definitely one of the better ones. Great menu, even better the daily specials, which make this place interesting every time you go here. Do t even hesitate is looking for great food and great service. We go dressed up a bit to make the evening special but the crowd is mixed casual/dressy. Again, don't hesitate.
I'm not local but I've spent a lot of time in the Cape Canaveral/Cocoa area for work in the last year. I've eaten at Sage four times in that period and been delighted every time. I keep waiting for even one slightly wrong note to show up in their cuisine—it just doesn't happen. This is one of the best damn restaurants I've ever known.
Have been there 5 times now. We drive from Viera to eat there. Friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere. This last time we brought two other couples with us. They loved the German food and beer that is part of their offerings. The food is always excellent - they must have a great chef!
Tuesday tapas (all tapas $10) was a nice surprise. We saved about $6 and sampled some yummy items. If the "southern fried fish" is a special, get it. It's not what you expect. It almost has a southwestern flair. Delicious. The tuna tapas special with seaweed salad was good too. The escargot is excellent. On the kids menu, the fettuccine alfredo was amazing. The adult portion comes with asparagus, bacon, and mushrooms...but you can leave any of those off. Highly recommend keeping the bacon. My 7 year-old loved it. (I did, too!) Don't skip dessert. Get the white macadamia nut cookie covered in homemade ice-cream. It was the best part!
Delicious, creative and fresh choices in a lively setting with great drinks, wine and beer. Really loved the Chorizo Crusted Fish and my partner's dish, Lamb Stew, was perfectly cooked and perfectly spiced. Wish they weren't so far from us (Cape Canaveral is a haul from S. Mel Beach), but we will return sometime soon!
The reviews looked good online and we weren't disappointed with the food or the prices. They weren't cheap but they weren't expensive and certainly worth every penny for the quality we got. Maybe a bit expensive for a family but they do have a simple, inexpensive children's menu but tweens and older can be expensive to feed here. Ordered the chorizo-crusted sea bass but they had to substitute grouper and they were out of their house-made pineapple kimchi, both minor disappointments but grouper is a great fish and the meal itself didn't disappoint. Their grilled asparagus was good but the avocado mashed potatoes were just awesome and felt healthier (even if they aren't). lol Also had the pork wings app made Sage style and those were good but not great because it seemed the sauce made the crispy breading soggy and they required addition seasoning at the table. The hit it out of the ballpark with my son's bowl of soup, which on our visit was essentially a pulled pork and bean chili and it was excellent all around. We'll definitely eat here again.
Always a bit of a challenge when we get together for dinner with our vegan son. We are die hard meat eaters, so a "vegan" restaurant really isn't an option, especially for my husband. We have been to Sage a few times and really enjoyed it, so I was lamenting to the owner that I was so sad that they didn't have anything vegan on the menu. And that's when the magic started to happen!!! She told us that, if we just call ahead, the chef would be happy to prepare a special vegan meal for him. Only half convinced, we made a reservation for this past Friday night. Chef Jordan created a picture perfect plate but, as we all know, "the proof is in the pudding". My son practically licked the plate and then pronounced it "one of the best meals he had ever had"!!! Then they completely blew his mind with the fruit crumble dessert prepared just for him. Wonderful restaurant for meat eaters, but who knew they could create true haute cuisine for vegans? Now that you're in on the secret, grab your vegan and non-vegan friends and go to Sage!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed a delicious and unique meal at Sage. The hostess was delightful and helpful explaining the daily specials. Our waitress was excellent and fun, very timely on delivering our meal and extremely friendly, often coming back to our table and checking up on our experience. Food was flavorful and when they say they are a scratch kitchen, they really mean it! When we return to Cocoa Beach again, we will definitely come back! Thank you!.
4 people dined on a Friday evening. Got there on time, seated immediately. Server, Lisa, excellent & attentive. 1) Appetizers = FANTASTIC! (same when Izzy's too) - Fish Chowder, Escargot, Mushroom Arancini (special). We'll DEFINITELY return for appys & drinks! 2) Salads: Dinner salads okay - basic, dressings ordinary. Caesar salad was bland - not what I expected. 3) Entrees: Surprising from a scratch kitchen - none of us totally happy: a) Lobster Pot Pie (menu) - HUGE, but when I cut into it there was nothing but a SOUPY mess! 3 pieces of lobster, a few vegetables (not even cooked thru). Inedible - server took it away and removed it from our bill. OWNER asked if I wanted something else - I didn't want another entree at this point. b) Baked Stuffed Chicken (menu) - husband said chicken was served lukewarm & tasted rubbery, like it was heated in a microwave. Because lukewarm, the goat cheese was gelatinous-like. The taste was good he said, just he didn't like the consistency of it. He ate it anyway. c) Filet Mignon (menu) - my friend ordered this medium rare. What came to the table was a flat piece of steak - not a nugget/chunk that you usually see with filet mignons! It was cooked "okay" as she said, but she didn't think it was filet. The usual taste was not there. She ate hers anyway. * There are many other places in the area that serve better beef! * d) Fish: Corvina (special) - my friend ordered this fish because he figured it would be fresh and prepared simply (less to screw up!). He said the fish was on the dry side - even though it tasted like it was from frozen fish. He also ate it anyway. WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF PLENTIFUL FRESH CATCH HERE - so there is no excuse!
Wines were all house brands and okay with us. We are not "food snobs", but we do enjoy (and are willing to pay for) delicious food. Sage still doesn't meet the mark when it comes to entrees. It was the SAME experience as when dining at IZZY's. Appys are the best to get here.
The Chef is creative and artistic and the food quite delicious. We arrived early formiur reservation and were seated immediately. Our server arrived about 10 minutes later, took one of our party's cocktail order and walked away. He returned with her cocktail and took the other orders. He was disengaged and unattentive the entire evening. We had to repeatedly ask for things and he did not return to ask how our food was until clearing the table between courses.
The food is worth an evening out; however, be aware the service is sketchy at best. Do not have timely plans after your meal. It was more than 3 hours for a party of three to have dinner on a Wednesday evening.
