Sagano Japanese Bistro & Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Sagano several times. This time the food was not as well seasoned and tasty as usual. I had to wait for my meal to cook after my husbands which has never happened before. I always get the same thing. Getting a chef also took longer time than expected.
I wish it was a little cheaper, but the food is amazzzzing---the entertainment spot on! The server did take a but if time to get things going, but once it got going it was great. Cooks are fun, entertaining and definitely worth the family time. So much fun and always have left overs.
We took our 82 year old father there for his birthday. The food was great. When we asked the chef to sing happy birthday, he said no, not unless we paid. We had just given a $20 on top of the regular tip on the bill. Seriously - what a disappointment. We weren't looking for a special drink or dessert - just a simple happy birthday.
Food was good. Chef was talented and funny and we enjoyed him but he spent a LOT of time talking about his wife in a pretty unflattering way. No thank you, I come out for a relaxing dinner, not to hear a narrative on your issues at home. You pay a premium at Sagano for the Hibachi 'entertainment', not to listen to that. The food was good, though, and there was plenty of it!
We have enjoyed going to Sagano's every couple of months. We were way too cramped around the table, and there was a very cranky single lady next to us, who ruined our dinner with her obnoxious comments. (not that this is Sagano's fault.)
The cook was not very engaging. There were two birthdays (my son's being one of them) and the cook never once bothered to say anything. Not sure we will go back again. Pretty disappointed overall.
We brought my mom here for her birthday. Our chef was entertaining and all of our drinks and food orders were taken promptly. We did have 4 kids (3, 7, 10, 11) and that was a mistake. The 3 youngest ate the rice and some chicken - if you have picky eaters, do not waste your money on them - haha! The overall cost of the meals was great considering you were served massive amounts of food that no one finished. It was a fun time for the adults and if we go back it will be only adults.
We were looking for a fun venue to have dinner and celebrate my grandson's 18th birthday. We just didn't want to go to a restaurant and order from a menu, so we thought of a Japanese steakhouse. ( my grandson and several of us were 1st timers! ) After reading reviews from area steakhouses, we chose Sagano's for location and reviews. We were not disappointed! The food was plentiful ( all took take home boxes ) and delicious, the service very accommodating , the chef entertaining, and the birthday feature perfect and fun! My grandson and family have memories of an 18th birthday made special by choosing Sagano's...thank you! :)
I normally love Sagano and have never been disappointed. However this past experience was terrible. This is a place where normally you are there for at the minimum of an hour to an hour and a half. We were seated at 8:35pm and my credit card was processed by 9:17pm. It took longer than usual for our drink order, which wasn't a problem, but then immediately after our order was taken the soup arrived. Within 90 seconds, our salads were put down. Within 90 seconds, our chef arrived. Normally you don't want to be eating your soup AND salad while the chef is cooking because part of the point of this restaurant is the entertaining chef whom you are paying attention to. As soon as the chef was done, within two minutes, the bill and boxes were put down. Meanwhile chairs are being stacked on tables around us and the hibachi grills are being cleaned (including our table while we are eating!) I've never felt so rushed to pack up my plate and leave. I made a comment to the wait staff who did express my displeasure to the manager, which I appreciated. He did come over and apologize and offer a compensation gift certificate to come back, and that was nice. However I still felt that paying that bill that evening was throwing my money out the window. I am sure I'll return, but not likely for the 8:30 reservation if that's the way they run it. 42 minutes from seat to pay bill at a Hibatchi restaurant.... too much rushing I would say.
