Saffire Ratings and Reviews
Service was excellent as usual; however the food was deplorable and we told management our concerns-they didn't even care. Our reservation were at 2:45 pm which is usually a down period for most restaurants and I believe they may have given us their scraps or left overs and the problem is at their price point their scraps are not worth even a penny.
Our server was nice without being intrusive, and very attentive. The food was great, I had a lovely gluten free chickpea, rice, curry item which was fabulous. We had a delightful mother's day brunch, with a bonus of some excellent live music in the background! Visit The Factory, it's worth the drive.
There were 8 of us for Sunday lunch. We were seated right away. The service was very prompt & attentive. The food was amazing and all 8 of us are "foodies"!! Among the dishes we ordered were chicken fried chicken, chicken & waffles, braised short rib casserole, bam bam shrimp, chocolate cake & bananas foster bread pudding. Every single plate was clean at the end of the meal. Highly recommend!!
Got off to a rocky start when we stood at the host stand for 5ish minutes without any greeting despite two employees walking right by us. I liked our server a lot. Just attentive enough without being too in our business. Food was delicious. The live music was a huge plus.
I will probably give these guys a second chance... but it might take a year. While the experience wasn't bad, it also wasn't stellar or memorable enough to make me want to rush back. Ribs were overcooked... but had really good flavor. The Texas ketchup saved them (really good). The black drum special was slightly overcooked (but certainly still acceptable - just not stellar). The green beans were undercooked (after my wife had ordered them to be overcooked) and were ridiculously small for the +$4.00 charge. I sent them back and again they came back undercooked. (Yes, they were the same beans.) The server was a pleasant enough gentleman... However, he was a bit on the slow side, not really that "switched on," and not as attentive as I've come to expect for a restaurant of this perceived caliber. (I had to go up and get a wine glass from the bar because the server didn't come around... I then had to go back to the bar to ask for another glass because (you guessed it) the server didn't come around yet again.) Empty drink glasses were left on the table. By the end of the meal, my out of town customer had 4 empty cocktail glasses in front of him. In Saffire's defense, they may have had a server or two call off unexpectedly. The manager seemed a little off his game (maybe stressed?). Overall rating: Just OK. Just decent food (not wonderful)... Great Texas Ketchup! Restaurant service needs a little "polishing." This place can be great if they just notch up the service a bit. (No big deal on overcooking and undercooking as long as they nip it in the bud.) The good news is that this place is in a cool location and has great potential. Further, the menu is actually quite excellent... So, hopefully it was just an off night.
We went for Easter brunch. I haven't been to Sapphire in quite a while but I'm glad I went back. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken, a yummy panko-crusted chicken with country ham gravy and white cheddar penne mac n cheese. It sounds ridiculously heavy but surprisely, it wasn't. I ate every last bite and will definitely go back. Two thumbs up!
Had a disappointing meal at Saffire on Saturday evening. Waitress seemed put out with every question we asked and was obviously winging her answers, rather than getting correct information from the kitchen or others with more experience. The menu at Saffire is disappointing. Two in our party ordered the gumbo and stated that it wasn't very good. The person who ordered the shrimp tacos said they were good. I ordered the pasta selection with chicken on it and it was disappointing. We started the meal with oysters and when asked how fresh they were, we were told they came in on Wednesday. I get it - we are in Tennessee, but other restaurants have seafood flown in every 1-2 days. The oysters were ok, but were not served with traditional mignonette, just a chili sauce and other dip. Won't be back. There are plenty of other restaurants with better food.
Excellent food (as always). The unfortunate thing was the noise was SO loud that our table of four had to lean in to hear each other talk. The piano player NEVER took a break during our almost two hours there, so it was very unpleasant. I will go back, but next time I will ask to be seated next to the kitchen.
This was my first time visiting Saffire and I am so glad I did. The atmosphere was great and food was even better. I ordered the chicken fried chicken based upon Yelp reviews and pictures. It was excellent. I also ordered the deviled eggs app and they were good. My friends had a Caesar salad with salmon and the grilled cheese. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was good though the water glasses were small and mine ran out. I drank my friend's water as she was having tea. The waiter could have been more attentive in that area but he WAS also the bar tender so he was a little busy. He took care of us fine otherwise. I will certainly return as there are more items I'd like to try (like that grilled cheese!).
Very attentive staff, checked on your often but not over bearing, gave great suggestions, kept us informed of food and drinks. Great night to visit- able to partake of half price wine and w joyed the fresh catch special. So glad we decided to go- really enjoyed the experience.
Service was inattentive-perhaps the worst that I have personally experienced in many, many years. Quality of food was several steps down from Valentine's Day. Saffire salad brought out was a kale salad and not an organic greens and seasonal vegetables as advertised. To the server's credit, an alternative was offered. Entrees were brought out when salad was only half eaten. Tortillas on shrimp tacos were stale tasting and beans and rice accompaniments were cold. By that time, there was little to be done to salvage the meal. To say that we were profoundly disappointed is an understatement.
We were headed to Franklin's Factory and wanted to work in lunch, so tried out Saffire. We were very pleasantly surprised. Apparently the new chef was experimenting!
Drinks from the bar were creative. Great service. Excellent food. It was a while ago, so I can't recall exact dishes, and they may have changed, but we will keep it high on our list for when in Franklin.
The food was okay. I was honestly expecting a lot better food for the price we paid for it. My $15 burger (Leiper's burger) was unique and it was good, but I wouldn't pay more than $8 for it. My guess is that people go to Saffire, not because the food is great, but because of the trendy environment, or the unique menu items or because they like the idea of going to expensive restaurants.
The best part of the meal was definitely the chocolate ganache cheesecake ($9). It too is overpriced for my taste, but it was delicious.
Our server was very friendly, attentative and helpful; he brought us a cup of soup to sample before our meal and it persuaded me to order that next time because it was so good. Our meals were excellent - everything was cooked to order and tasted great. We had an excellent dining experience!
Service was horrible. I ordered a filet cooked medium and it was served well done. The server did not check on us after food was delivered, so I was unable to tell her. She only refilled drinks one time after several times of asking. Our server was extremely inattentive and sadly we will not come back. If only she would have checked on us occasionally we would have returned. Thank you
I was looking forward to going, since we are foodies. We were greeted by a very nice waitress. The wine list is great. We loved the oysters and the cheese/meat tray. We were very disappointed with the main meal. The salmon was farm raised and the beef was very dry. My husband had bananas foster bread pudding, the bananas looked like they were old, not fresh. Overall I would only go back for the wine, cheese and oysters. Oysters are pricey but excellent.
Overall good experience, I had been there before but it had been some time. The food was excellent, our waitress forgot to put my friends steak order in so she was unable to eat with the rest of our party, & was not compensated for the inconvenience. I will not rush back but it was good
Have been going there for years!
Love LOVE love their Menu
My favorite is the freshness of their Seafood and the variety of local/seasonal ingredients
The Cocktails need to set a higher mark, that is my only complaint
Service is outstanding
Food incredible ,Trendy atmosphere
Definitely my favorite place in Dowtown Franklin !
