It was my daughter’s birthday. We enjoyed the secret entry. We were seated in the corner. She got zero recognition for her birthday. Burgers were over cooked and overpriced. Server basically forgot about us. Very disappointed in this place.
Found online, decided to take younger kids (<11) for fun. The theme was fun and decorations were very in line with the theme, but the service was non existent and value for food for wasn't good. Our sever came by 3x, once to greet, once to place food, and once with the check. Had to flag down other waiters to get refills and our check. Glad we went. Wouldn't go back.
Food was actually very good but although the spy concept for this restaurant was great, the actual experience was lackluster. Our server was disappointing and not at all helpful so that ruined the whole experience. It was too difficult to figure out exactly what we were supposed to do for the missions and we had no help from the staff. Our children our teenagers and they couldn't decipher the clues. It wasn't worth the price we paid.
Hi, We had a date-night at SafeHouse on a Saturday night. This was a fun and not jam-packed crowded place to go for dinner & drinks. While waiting for our table, we were able to explore the decorations and solve "spy clues" to pass the time and have some fun. People were laughing and having fun, but the noise was moderate and we were able to have a conversation over dinner. Drinks may seem a little pricey but they are well made and are not watered down at all, and if you buy the souvenir glass for the signature drinks, refills are 1/2 price. If you're looking for a fun lunch or dinner that is family friendly, give SafeHouse a try. We will be going back again sometime this year.
We really enjoyed Safe House. When you're looking for fun, casual dining experience, Safe House is a great option. The food was good...drinks were just okay...just took a long time for everything to come to the table.
Very Disappointing. I had high hopes for this place. I planned to bring my out-of-town guests here for a unique experience. I’m sorry to say that will never happen. I had a reservation but was told to wait next door and someone will come get me...no one came to get me, meanwhile my guest would not be seated because I was not there. Moving forward, ambiance was not good at all. Surprisingly, there were a lot of kids everywhere (they were very well-mannered). The food was cold and not very good, but the most shocking thing part of the evening was when my friend and I “witnessed” an employee pour a glass of white wine back into the bottle! I don’t believe this is their norm, but that was our experience. Highly disappointed.
Very disappointing evening. Our food was incorrect and no one came to our table until 15 minutes later to check on the accuracy. The concept is awesome, but the execution is not! My 8 yer old daughter during one of the "tasks" had to push a leaf in the genital area of a 007 actor in the women's bathroom. Not at all appropriate. I was disappointed.
Food was excellent! My kids had a blast on the missions! Cool atmosphere
Wonderful spot for the kids, but don't expect an exceptional meal. Good service.
My family and I went to celebrate Valentine's Day. My son enjoyed himself and the concept behind Safehouse was interesting. I gave four stars because the price for the food wasn't worth it.
Our server HAPPY was AMAZING and went above and beyond. I’ve been a server/bartender for over 20 years and he was FANTASTIC
The appetizers, the sides, and the desserts were tasty and well-made, though the fare is typical bar food and nothing more, the main I had, one of the burgers, was bland, with very little of what was promised to come on it, and not a smear of a single condiment on the buns which were dry as a bone. My side was brought to me three times - I chose the "unlimited sides" package - and all 3 times the broccoli was prepared differently, so consistency is an issue.
The place has an interesting gimmick for a one- or two-time visit, but unless you're in love with the food, there isn't much need to explore it again and again.
Good place to take the family for an interactive experience that doesn't involve your smartphone or an electronic device, i.e. trivia, games, etc. Enjoyed how they set the stage for you. The food was average but the experience of the themed restaurant and our server made up for it. Glad we did the value menu selection rather than ordering our entrees separately.
Honestly such a cool place! This was our first time in Chicago & came across this on Trip Advisor. So glad we tried it! If you’re looking to fulfill your spy kid dream, this place is for you!
Pretty touristy place. Wished our server was more engaged with schtick
First timers and we loved it! It was so fun and the staff were so friendly. We will be back for sure!
Was looking forward to a fun dining experience with our 14 and 11 year old grandkids. Ambience is fun, entering and exiting fun too, but that's where fun begins and ends. We thought that for our $30 per person charge we'd be looking forward to a pretty good dinner. Not so. I'll sum it up by saying this was the worst food I've ever been served at a restaurant. Horrible. I'm not one to complain at a restaurant, but it was that bad. When asked "So, spies, how was your meal?!", I was honest. They did right by comping us for entrees, and seemed pretty experienced quickly handling complaints, which leads me to believe that such is a common occurrence for this establishment. Won't return and advise others to steer clear of this place. Yuk.
Very fun place to visit! Food is expensive but atmosphere is entertaining & worth it! Make sure to find the magician he is great. Burger is really good
It was a lot of fun and shjdanhssjudjsnsbshdudhshsbsbssb
I absolutely love the atmosphere here. The staff (outside of my waiter) was extremely friendly from beginning to end. I did not however, like my waiter. He was very short and dry, and brought us our check early even though we said we didn't want it, Because it was the end of his shift. Prior to leaving he also didn't give us the breakdown of all the fun things that can be done in the restaurant. He also didn't tell us about the "fun" exit, leaving the DJ to point us to the standard elevator through the front. A bad ending to what started as an amazing experience.
It was an experience and not just a meal! We made memories. Priceless.
Loved every minute of it. Great for a date night. Good food drinks service
I love this place it was amazing. I can't wait up go again!!!
This place is amazing! I went for my birthday and was so impressed with everything, everyone and just the concept of the whole restaurant. This is genius. I spoke about it all day today to my coworkers! Thank you again for a great experience!
Loved this place my 12 year old had a blast. We loved watching all of the silly things they make you do on the camera before entering. Our server was Tiny and he was awesome really stayed in character. Food was actually very good for a theme restaurant.
We went to Safehouse Chicago for a family lunch outing. Everyone enjoyed it! The food was great, the service was great, and the atmosphere was great! Special shout out to Agent Zero and Agent Powerline!
The food wasent the best, the burgers were smaller and the fries were cold. I let them know it was our daughters 16th bday and nothing special to accommodate.
I usually don't leave reviews but our service was so horrible I wanted to let you know. The Greeter and Agent Powerline were amazing, but our server was either overwhelmed or the cooks dropped the ball. We ordered very simple items, chili, grilled cheese, BLT and wings and it all came out cold and took 45 minutes. I also told many people it was my daughters birthday, they made us wait another 40 minutes and was served the cake in a bag because we waited almost 2 hours at this point. She also overcharged us by saying my girls got the spy package, which they didn't and when I asked she said she would just gave me the glasses which were super cheap on our way out of the door. The atmosphere was super fun and we were so excited to try this during our daughters Birthday weekend in the city but the terrible service wasted 2 hours our of our day and made us feel like we wasted our afternoon and a lot of money.
The service was extremely slow. The food was subpar. The atmosphere was neat but the scavenger hunt was not geared towards children. I would not recommend this restaurant.
This was such a fun place to eat. We went for my daughter’s 6th Birthday. There was a lot of interaction and fun activities. Great place for adults and children
For anyone who grew up in Chicago, a roadtrip to the Milwaukee Safe House was an absolute right of passage. Now right here in Chicago, the same incredibly cool theme has been given a bit of an update creating a whole new experience for us rabid fans. There is so much to experience and explore - and for a "theme" restaurant, the food is top notch, which is a very welcome surprise. The WI location has always had good food but like everything else, the Chicago venue has kicked it up a notch. Oh, and the gentleman working in the "office lobby" was non-stop entertaining even when there weren't agents trying to get in. HIGHLY recommended!
Such an awesome experience! I have already started spreading the word.
Only complaint was that for some reason our server became a bartender, and the service was AWFUL-but not his fault-and he was great! And they did run out of disguises and no inventory-which had nothing to do with the experience other than keep me from spending more money! We can always buy online!
It was late, they couldn't find my reservation. Good thing I had it on my phone. The waitress was very rushed. Almost left. Bathroom was flooded? Couldn't use it
It was my husband and I first time and we definitely love it super fun from start to end super fast service and accurate, prices are on point food was delicious definitely recommend this to everyone.
Mildly disappointing Not engaging for young adults and older. Good for a family outing with young children however. The “famous” burger was not very tasty and the onion rings had an odd taste but the cheese curds were delicious. The service and ambiance was nice. Entering and exiting was the best part, I will not return.
Great fun night for the kids, good cocktails for parents!!
It's a unique restaurant in Chicago that I would recommend for both kids and adults!! It was very fun and I will try and be back next time I'm in the area.
The food was mediocre at best. The kids thought the place was amazing!
Super fun for all. We were well taken care of!
Fun time and great for birthday. My sister ❤️ it Sandra Jones
