Saar Indian Bistro
Delicious food….. caring manager…. Attentive waiter.
Interesting Indian restaurant with different dishes - pretty setting and very welcoming & kind staff - we always come back here as it's the best in the neighborhood
Very good Infian restaurant. Ambiance and food excellent.
Taste of dishes were unique, presentation was excellent and an enjoyable experience overall
Excellent food and ambience. Highly recommend it.
Food was superb. Very tasty. We chose to sit outside. My only complain is with the portion / price. I understand that it is in NYC but the quantity you get for what you pay is shocking. $23 for Paneer and you get four pieces of Paneer. That said this was the best Paneer I have ever had.
Finally a great Indian restaurant on midtown/upper west side! Unusual and delicious dishes. Exceptional service from a very welcoming host to a helpful server to a charming busboy.
The food and atmosphere were wonderful but the waitress was so unpleasant and cold that it’s really did affect our dining experience. If she doesn’t want to be interacting with diners then she shouldn’t ruin the otherwise lovely meal.
Consistently one of the very best Indian restaurants in NYC. Friendly, efficient service. Excellent value, especially considering the location.
It was a great experience eating at Saar. I would definitely recommend it to people visit when they are in NYC
Very good food and service
They were severely understaffed. The waitress ever brought it up. 20 minutes to order a drink, another 20 to order food, 20 minutes to get a check. Food was really good and the kitchen seemed to be better staffed. It wasn't very busy when we went, maybe half full. Out of two of the beers we tried to order.
Fantastic food and service. Cocktails were excellent!
Nice experience overall
Excelente servicio y comida, la ubicación muy buena y la atención de la mesera de lo mejor
Dinner at Saar was an absolute delight! The food is outrageously delicious and the service is impeccable, professional, and friendly. Sonny, the maitre d', is sincere in his effort to please. Every recommendation he gave us (when asked), turned out to be excellent. We ate outside so there was some street noise but it did not lessen the quality of our meal. We will be back!
Food was cold. No atmosphere. Very quiet surroundings.
Love this restaurant. This time, had the chicken korma and the grilled scallops-delicious.
Excellent cocktails and service. A real winner.
Outstanding cuisine and friendly and efficient service!
Good authentic Indian food but limited menu.
18% Automatic tips applied to the bill but then requesting additional gratuity which is excessive for this level of restaurant and the service provided.
We relied on our host to select our vegetarian dinners after our samosa tasting and bharta, both of which were delicious. He also kept his eye on our drinks to make sure we did not go without. The restaurant was pretty, comfortable, took Covid precautions seriously and felt like a cozy haven within a big city. Despite having an enticing dessert list, we were too full to partake, but we'll be back!
Excellent food and service. Clean and pleasant .. lunch or dinner — it’s great ..
A unique Indian fusion menu we had wonderful cauliflower latkes. All the food was excellent. The dessert made with lentils was amazing. You must try this restaurant if you want a flavor extravaganza.
This is the best place I ever ate in NYC and the best service I ever had too. Sunny really made it special for us. What a wonderful server!!
We have not been here since lockdown in March. And as soon as we started eating we wondered why? The food here is stunning, so good. And the service is perfect. Definitely recommend.
The server was amazing
Unfortunately the people were too loud next to our table
Food was par excellence
The food was absolutely delightful! Even my partner who never savors his food noticably slowed down saying that it would be a shame to eat it so fast. Our waitress was sweet and attentive and the interior design was colorful and inviting. The only minus was the temperature which was on the colder side. I was wearing a long sleeve dress with leggings underneath and still had to put on my coat...although that might be part of covid-regulation. Anyhow, I think it's a fantastic restaurant especially for the value and I'll most definitely be back!
Have been here many times pre-COVID. Sat outside. They had "happy hour" special so we got beers for $5 each. We had the sweet potato chaat app and then the lunch special. They never overcook their chicken, The veggies that came with it were great. We weren't thrilled with the yellow daal but we have always preferred daal makni.
Overall, this hit the spot.
Everything was good but not quite as good as last month. They brought the mains before the apps and we sent them back. Perhaps it's my imagination but it seems they cut back on the portion size.
My favorite Indian restaurant in Manhattan. Loved the chicken korma and okra salad during our last meal there.
Absolutely amazing. I cannot rate them highly enough. I asked for a recommendation and we were treated to a curated meal from the extremely helpful and engaging staff. Every dish was well explained and delicious. I will absolutely be returning and FREQUENTLY. Portions, service, and quality make for a very fair price.
As always this restaurant doesn’t fail to deliver. The grill stuff is what we enjoy most and the salmon tikka and lasooni Kababs were amazing. The kulcha and laccha parathas were perfect and even though the outdoor seating seemed bold for a nippy evening; the food and Cabernet made sure we were warm. Sometimes it’s just good to go to a place that you know you won’t be disappointed.
The food here is really better than any other Indian restaurant on the West side. Chicken korma is plentiful and excellent. Starters are all good but the lamb kabob is beyond good. They are set up so you can eat in the street and it’s quiet and they have made it very pretty and the ownership and servers are grateful to have guest and provide excellent service. Definitely going back there regularly!
BEST INDIAN FOOOOD EVER!!!!
The food here is always amazing. It is not your usual Indian fare, the menu is full of very different flavours. We love it here. And the staff and the owner are always very welcoming.
We have been to Saar before for dinner & the food was delicious! This time we went for lunch & felt like the food didn’t taste the same. The chicken pieces were smaller, the paneer was not soft. The service seemed slow as well.
Solid Indian and convenient location
I’m having trouble understanding the star rating for this restaurant. Perhaps it would have been a different experience for people who are not vegetarian. Except for one appetizer, the vegetarian options and sides were bland and uninspired.
Service was good until half way through, then non existent. We wondered if we had somehow offended our server, though we had not complained.
I would suggest that vegetarians consider another place.
Really tasty food (the chicken was delicious).
