Was very excited to try a Korean BQ experience in Logan Park, but we found the place was not very clean and the food was just OK. The Short Rib has good flavor, but way too much gristle. Sauces were just so-so. Kind of disappointed. Servers were all VERY pleasant, but I don't think we're going back.
Fantastic food. The beef was so tender and flavorful. Sushi rolls very tasty and presented like art. The service was excellent.
Did not know what to expect. Had appetizers and then cooked chicken, shrimp and beef at our table. Given several small veggie dishes to accompany. All protein was cut thin to cook quickly on the grill in the middle of the table. Very nice and reasonable prices for both food and drinks. Service was informative and helpful.
Awesome dining experience. Excellent drink menu. Insane food. Just so good and reasonably priced.
Love this place; always counting down til my return.
The food was great. Standouts for us were the green papaya salad, the fried avocado topped with spicy tuna & of course the barbecue...we had shrimp, octopus & bulgogi beef. We really enjoyed the look of the dining area & the experience of grilling at the table. Service was very friendly, but somewhat over solicitous. We felt like he had been coached to push certain food items, which I'm not a fan of. But, he grilled our food perfectly & refilled the homemade sides when we needed, so overall a very nice job on his part. The space is a restored old storefront with high ceilings. It was quiet when we were there, but I could see it being noisy when it's a full house. They lose one star on account of dirty slop buckets clearly visible when I walked back to the bathroom. Overall though, a positive experience. We're glad they're in the neighborhood & we'll definitely be back.
Second time dining at Ryuu and have zero complaints once again. Also, brought first timers with us and they said they’ll be back!
Great service, great food, fun experience...what more could you ask for. My boyfriend and I had a great date night here, he tried a strawberry sake that was amazing and I usually hate sake! Dessert was coconut ice cream on top of sweet black sticky rice with lychee on top, heavenly! We will 100% be going back here with friends since it’s a perfect group dining atmosphere. Oh and the Victoria’s Secret drink is not only fun but delicious.
Ryuu is a fun, casual place for Asian BBQ. They have a broad menu to meet varied desires. We had primarily the BBQ and really enjoyed everything. I think this is also a great value, we had a lot of food for the dollar!
The meat was high quality, as was the shrimp. Sauces were tasty. Service was attentive. I'd definitely go back.
Good for a casual but filling meal in Logan Square - would go again for sure
By far my favorite Korean barbecue spot in Chicago. The staff are very friendly. My favorites are the pineapple, marinated chicken, and steak.
The sushi here was AMAZING! Super fresh. We also had the drunken noodles with shrimp that hit the spot perfectly. We didn’t try the BBQ side, but we are very interested in doing it next time!
Great Korean bbq and food. Other options are also delicious!
My boyfriend and I went here for dinner on a Sunday evening and it was so delicious and so much fun! The combo for two included a ton of food! Our waitress was very helpful as this was our first time making bbq like this.
Food was fantastic and the cook your own bbq style meal made for a fun unique night!
The food and service was excellent. I felt bad for making a reservation so late but not once did I feel like they were pushing us out.
The noise level is to be expected, you’re grilling meat on a tabletop and most people are with a group but it was still fun!
Would definitely recommend and return! Thank you!!
We Love Ryuu! Love the service, the food, the environment, everything
The food is outstanding. Very flavorful and a lot of depth.
Delightful Korean BBQ. Sushi was pretty delicious as well. Try the Kalbi beef, the marinate is very good. Would come back
Dave and his team run an amazing restaurant. Food and service were fantastic and my family felt like their family
Rocky start as the fabric seats are heavily food stained and not suitable for seating. I asked for new chairs. Staff was surprised anyone would complain. Food by contrast is fresh and very good. Technology has solved the Smokey BBQ issue with a highly efficient fan around the perimeter of the BBQ. Overall, a good choice for Korean but bring seat covers.
Great neighborhood place. Unique dining experience and food and service were great.
Great food, we will be back!
This place is phenomenal. We went with our son and his wife for Mother’s Day and they loved it as much as we did when we first ate there two weeks ago
Comfortable upscale Asian BBQ place with great ventilation and easy to use cooking grills that are sunk into the table. Great for those of us who don't like breathing smoke, and the food was delicious, too. Nice take on traditional Korean BBQ, but also a few twists on other Asian cuisines. The traditional small side dishes provided here are not as varied as some Korean joints, but they were high quality and unlimited refills were provided. Reasonable prices for both food and drink, and altogether its my new favorite place for Asian BBQ.
Simply delicious. Amazing food and great service and drinks. Always a favorite
Super friendly service and superb foot. Great value/large portions.
This was an extremely enjoyable experience. Varied Asian menu and everything was great from sashimi to duck curry to chicken grilled at the table. Friendly service and terrific value. Left a 35% tip
Group of 4 plus infant. Ordered two meals for two. Quality of meat was very good, delicious. Good sides. Quantity was more than we could manage but not a lot more. Very friendly and helpful staff.
First time experience at a Korean BBQ, didn’t know what to expect and our server asked us if this was our first time and had excellent suggestions for us. He didn’t hesitate to take the lead with grilling our food which was great. Overall experience was really enjoyable will do it again.
great spot. went for our first time. food was delicious. we will definitely be going back
I’ve been here a few times on dates with my husband and now a birthday celebration for my mom. Everything is so delicious and the service is wonderful. Very attentive but not overwhelming.
Our experience was rather nice. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We had the lumpia, duck bao, and a makimono roll (can't remember the name) to start. Each were very tasty. The ginger salad was okay. I had the wagyu and she had the basil chicken. She loved it! However, I had a hard time believing that the cut of beef I had was actually wagyu. The flavor was nice but the texture wasn't what I was use to when it comes to wagyu. And I was given kitchen shears to cut it. However, I was offered a steak knife but was given a butter knife. Overall, it's an unpretentious restaurant with above average fare. I would definitely return....just not for the wagyu (maybe I shouldn't have ordered it here anyways). Oh....and the cocktails were fantastic.
Service was friendly and just the right amount of checking in. Food. was bountiful and reasonably priced. Cocktails were good. Great time, not rushed.
The service was excellent, the food is good, i can't wait to come back.
Great food, and it was very entertaining to have everything cooked at the table!
Amazing experience per usual!
Stumbled across this gem when searching for a new sushi spot in the neighborhood. We ended up getting the Korean barbecue instead! It smelled amazing when we walked in. We got the peking duck bao to start (good amount of meat and sauce) and took advantage of the buy two, get one 50% off deal on Wednesdays - marinated shrimp, spicy basil chicken, and bulgogi. All delicious with the traditional Korean BBQ sides and sauces. There were so many other options on the menu I'll definitely be back to try something else. Service was also excellent!
I stumbled upon this gem randomly on the OpenTable App and, it ended up being the best decision ever. I love the combination of so many different types of dishes from the Japanese, Thai, and Korean culture. We were quickly welcomed by friendly staff to our nice booth table. The server explained to us the concept of the restaurant, for it was our first time dining here. We ended up ordering the BBQ Beef Combo Special and two sushi rolls (we were obsessed with the Pink Panther roll. Each table had four special sauces that combined amazingly with the meats. The meet was so tender and melted in your mouth. We topped off the night with the green tea creme brulee which was included in the combo special for 50% off.. to say the least it was phenomenal! Would defiantly recommend eating here
