   I was able to make a reservation on OpenTable but when I got there, the restaurant was closed. A sign on the door says it is temporarily closed for emergency remodeling or repairs and it tells you to go to one of their other locations. Something to that effect. Really frustrating.

   Restaurant was not open even though I was able to book it on Open table. Showed up on time for my reservation and the sign on the door read closed for emergency remodelling. Upset that the restaurant didn’t update their open table status and the fact you could book a closed restaurant. Waste of my time.

   OpenTable took our reservation for Ryu Westmount and charged us $75 to Make rez. We received confirming email from the resto and OpenTable. When we arrived at Ryu, the place was closed and had been for days. When we called, we got another Ryu branch (it’s a chain) who were unhelpful and hung up on us. Since they are closed but will still take your reservation fee, I cannot recommend.

   Small and cozy restaurant. Our welcome was quick and fast. We had the option to be seated where we wanted. Our maître d' was very funny and we had a very good service. We took the omakase experience. Ambience was great and food was really tasty.

   Remember if you'd like to try the tasting menu you and your party must have the same appetite. :( Even if it means the restaurant will lose money. The wait staff and man at the front were very pleasant. We were a party of 3 on a week night The waiter explained that the chef tailors the quantity of the tasting by the # of people who order the tasting menu. Since it's what we expected, two of us ordered the tasting menu at $130 pp and the 3rd ordered the sashimi plate at $55. Well, the chef refused our order unless all three of us at the table ordered the tasting menu. Remember, the chef would not be preparing more food, but if our friend sat at another table alone, the chef would honour our order. After some back and forth with the chef maintaining their stance, we pretty much lost our appetite and two of us were ready to leave. We stayed for our hungry friend, but only two 2 of us ordered a small dish and the 3rd ordered nothing, zero, zilch, 0! So chef, too bad you only sold $50 of sushi instead of $315 of sushi. If you insist on maintaining that rule for all situations, I suggest you print it on your menu.

   We absolutely loved the food and service and the fact that we could sit outside! Great evening and would come back for sure.

   All the fish served was incredibly fresh and every minor detail in each dish was executed to perfection, right down to the intelligent use of edible garnishes that added an additional layer to each dish. The staff were professional, sociable and attentive. Not once did I wonder about when a glass of water would be refilled or when we'd get the opportunity to order another dish or drink, they were always one step ahead. Cocktails were outstanding and the presentation was beautiful, truly tied the whole experience together. A serious 10/10 experience for me & my friends.

   The quality of the fish is amazing. The service wasn’t great - new staff and they didn’t know the menu very well. They advertise a wine or sake pairing but they don’t have one.

   The food was excellent. Our waiter gave us each an alcohol free cucumber and mint shot. The edamame was delicious drizzled with a coating of sesame oil with seeds. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the bar drinks being made. Highly recommend!!

    Perfect place for a quiet night out mid-week. The food was delicious and the Ginzu among my fave cocktails.
