Rye Street Tavern
This is the second time we have had a disappointing experience. It took 45 minutes for our appetizers to come out - our appetizers were cold items like salads and crab and an additional hour for our entrees. When we checked in with the manager and he said he would check on our entrees he actually went out side and was outside checking in with tables out there. He never went into the kitchen or checked in with our server. Although we were treated to a round of drinks, there was no apology. Nothing was done to fix the situation and when our food was finally served it was cold.
It is such a beautiful place, just wish the food and service offered more.
Wonderful food and service! This was our second time and we will continue to come back whenever we are in Baltimore!
Tried Rye Street Tavern once before and hoped it was just an anomaly - decided to give it a try again and it was basically the same thing. Beautiful buildings, lovely views, great service...all very, very nice! If you're just there for the tour + cocktails, you're in the right place. If you're there for food, turn around and go somewhere else. The food is OKAY, but ridiculously overpriced and there are not enough options on the menu. We got the crab balls last time and they were mostly bread with very little flavor. Drinks were good, and may try the tour sometime but the food is meh and SO EXPENSIVE.
Excellent experience always. I took some fellow locals from Alexandria there and a friend from Baltimore there for dinner. They were blown away by the bar, drinks, decor, service and the food!! Excellent!!
We went here for my boyfriends birthday and were lucky that the restaurant wasn’t crowded but it was still so loud that we almost had to shout across the table to have a conversation. Food was just okay and the wait staff kept interrupting our dinner. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Third time at Rye Street Tavern. Same conclusion. The food doesn’t match the service and decor which are both outstanding. With a limited amount of options to choose from on the menu, every one should be outstanding and that is not the case
I have been here several times and had good service and great food. This visit was a disappointment however. The service was not great. My dining partner is a vegetarian, and mentioned it to our server before she ordered. What she selected turned out to have bacon in it which was not listed in the menu description. I ordered a second glass of sparkling wine that never showed up. I had to ask 3 people until it came. Nobody seemed to know what was going on. One server came over and asked if she could box anything whilst we were still clearly eating .
Took friends here for their first experience of what I already knew was going to be great. They love the dinning experience and the food, service and drinks were all wonderful. They all eagerly look forward to returning.
Rye Street Tavern is an excellent option for those looking for a good date night venue with delicious food, a great view, and excellent customer service. Although it may be on the pricier side, the entire experience is worth it. The server is happy to provide recommendations based on your dietary restrictions and preferences. They have tasty cocktails and the view along the water is unmatched.
Love coming here for a date night or even a quiet dinner. Great cocktails and food!
We met friends for drinks and dinner at Rye Street. Dinner was delicious and we enjoyed some rye drinks. We were not rushed at all and were able to enjoy a leisurely dinner with plenty of time to catch-up.
Great food. Attentive staff. Very loud inside.
Great service and cocktails
Our second try to see how Rye Street fared.
Overall, the restaurant is good: An upscale bar with good food. Our reservations had us sitting in the bar high tops when we asked for a seat in the dining room. The open space and lack of sound dampening does not allow for a table conversation. I found myself talking loudly just to talk to my wife across the table.
Our entrees were good. The blackened catfish on a bed of rice was made perfectly. My date's dish, the Juicy, Juicy was, in her words, fabulous.
Our server had too many tables. He was nice but I had to ask three times for him to pick up my date's glass of wine that was just steps from our table: I should've gone to the bar's pour station and got it myself.
This was a Friday night. Good weather and everyone wanted to go out.
Overall I would rate this as good. Just know what to expect....
The actual place looks very impressive but whoever fitted it out obviously forgot about acoustics. The place is LOUD, impossible to have a conversation without shouting across the table and joining in with the houseful of shouters. I think it deserves another try but we will sit outside next time where it seemed calmer and people could hear themselves.
The menu was promising but didn’t live up to expectations with the pork dish having too many flavors that were overwhelmed with too much salt.
Cocktails were bang on the money, table waitress very professional and knowledgeable about the menu.
Lovely ambiance but I feel over priced for location . Wine is very expensive for choices.
Wonderful experience as always!
Impressive. I’ll be back
Sadly, the poor service seriously impacted our dining experience. While the food was lovingly prepared, as well as a bit pricey, it took an extremely long time to arrive. We were seated for 50 minutes before the ‘cornbread before appetizers’ was brought to the table. Our waiter’s assistant was abrupt and rude, bothered by any questions we had. She did not appear to be what I’d say was service oriented. The customer should never feel unwelcome. As beautiful as the space is, it is unlikely we will return to Rye Street Tavern.
It took an extremely long time to get our food. The environment was extremely loud. The service was poor as well. I won't be hosting a client dinner there anytime soon.
Fun spot. Very noisy inside. Pretty outdoor patio for dinner and or a drink. Interesting menu - always new items as well as Rye Street standards.
A little loud we aren’t very loud people so our initial wine order was wrong but promptly corrected. Also the last half our our meal was served by a different server. Felt weird and felt a little neglected even though we could tell our original server was still working.
I was so excited to bring my partner to Rye Street for his birthday celebration. What a disappointment. As a starter, he ordered broiled oysters- Only 4 oysters, really? I ordered what I thought was deviled eggs with crab. I received 3 half deviled eggs- that is 1 &1/2 egg, and I tasted NO crab. The price wasn't listed and I couldn't believe I paid $15 for 1 and 1/2 egg. My partner ordered the seafood bake as an entree which was tasteless and I ordered shrimp and grits. My entree was delivered incorrectly - I was presented a salmon dish so it had to be returned. The sauce of my shrimp and grits was way over the top in spiciness. It tasted as if a bottle of Tobasco was poured over the top. Even the dessert was ridiculous. I ordered the coconut cream pie. It was cream all right- whipped cream with a sprinkle of candied coconut. What an expensive disappointment. I will not recommend this restaurant nor will I give them a second chance.
We sat outside. It was a gorgeous evening. The food was delicious and our server was super friendly and informative. A bit pricey for what the food was, but good none the less.
Went for an anniversary dinner. Drinks and dinner were solid. I had the seafood pot and my wife had a delicious fish dish. Desert was was seriously disappointing. The table next to us had the same desert and they were underwhelmed as well.
What a wonderful place to spend a wonderful evening.
Limited and pricey menu.
Nothing special. Great ambiance, the decor and location are fabulous...the food just doesn’t match the look and feel of the restaurant itself. Management was responsive to kitchen failures but work needs to be done on recipes and ultimate execution.
What a beautiful restaurant and we had a gorgeous night to sit outside! Cocktails were wonderful and the food very good!! We had the fried chicken... yummy buy not amazing . Burgers were delicious as well as the seafood pot. We tried the bone marrow.. the toasted bread to spread in on was amazing!! Expensive dinner but worth the price for a special evening. A little pricey for a casual night out!! The ambiance is wonderful... inside or out!!
We Love this place - it always feels like family...
My friend and I go once a month for brunch. We sit outside overlooking the water. Our favorite is the breakfast sandwich with potatoes. We also love the yogurt parfait. Everything is great though.
We had an amazing waitress, delicious food, and outstanding view.
Went for my birthday, so good! Love this place
Our server was great!
We had a 7:30 reservation for an outside table for 6, but we were not seated until 8:15. We were five minutes later but called in advance to let them know that and they said no problem. But when we arrived we were told by front desk that they had given our table to a group without a reservation who check in right before us. We then were told that it would be about 10 minutes for our table to open up, but that prediction was repeated 3 times. What was most frustrating was that there were multiple outdoor tables for 6 near the lawn that were empty, but they refused to let us sit there for dinner. Apparently there is a rule that when dining outside, you can only use the tables under the awning, not the tables with umbrellas. They either should have bent that rule for us when it became apparent that the folks who were at the table slotted for us had settled in, or offered us a table inside. They did comp us a round of drinks and once we were seated and we had a pretty good meal and great service from our server, but the 45 minute wait was a bummer. The menu has some very pricey items on it so we chose the less expensive items and all but one of our group liked the food. Those of us who had the fried chicken were quite pleased. Outdoor is quiet, but the bar area is much more lively.
Server not that attentive. Food decent.
Sat in the back bar area and it was hard to hear. Recommend trying not to sit there.
We loved our experience. It was our second time there and it didn't disappoint. From making memories out front playing Jenga to an amazing dinner with a great waiter "Todd". We will be back for sure.
Good overall experience. Table was pretty close to the others on either side. I could hear the whole conversation the couple next to us was having which made it hard to enjoy the time with my wife on our date night away from the kids. The tables were just too close as least where we were sitting. I did enjoy the oysters as well
Enjoyed meeting customers at RST. Great spot, great food, great service.
