Great Brunch with family- nice assortment of pastries and breakfast specials. Quiche was amazing! Cinnamon roll and doughnut special were both delicious, but probably filled us up too much. Would definitely return!
Beautiful ambiance. Attentive service. Food/price value not as great.
Menu items are great , and I always have a tough time deciding to what to order.
We ordered a side of the the chicken gizzards and livers again, but this time they were a little tasteless.
Last time we ordered them ,they were well seasoned. It's fried chicken and livers, not a health food....bring on the seasoning!! LOL
I wasn't a fan of the Lobster roll. My son got a fantastic steak, but it should have been fantastic at the price we paid.
Waited one hour before seeing our food after ordering ridiculous
Unfortunately, my burger was over cooked and over salted. Otherwise rest of food was perfect. Service was slow to refill water and check on us, and restaurant was not busy. Have had much better experiences at Rye.
Great food, friendly/timely service and reasonable food prices (drinks a bit pricey)!
We waited an HOUR for our brunch. Granted they were busy, you should be able to serve a table in under an hour. Really made getting together with family not enjoyable, because we were all hangry by the time our food arrived. There's better places to go that will serve food faster than that.
Our server was terrific, just the right amount of Being attentive without being overbearing. The food was superb the portions are generous you could split things which we will do the next time. We swing by the bakery case however on the way out they sell whole cakes and pies.
Extremely accommodating to our needs with my handicapped father.
Perfect music and food!
Our family enjoyed an early Mother's Day dinner at Rye Plaza. This is the third or fourth time our group has dined at Rye. The restaurant has basically two large rooms. One is better suited for large parties and that is where we were seated. Both rooms have large bar spaces that would be ideal for couples or singles dining alone. Menu has excellent choices and all food was well prepared. Decent wine list with appropriate mark up on New and Old world wines.
We had a wonderful dinner for mother's day and your server was awesome, her recommendations were spot on!! We will be back for steak night for sure!
Service was not great. But the food was good. It was pretty dark in the room we were seated in.
Not too sure what the menu writer thinks "hash" is, but - at least in my experience - it is NOT a bowl filled with (well not "filled with" ... more like "containing") a small, dainty, hand full of what were alleged to be brisket cubes and a large, non-dainty, fist full of potato cubes ... all the cubes around .5 to .75 inches in size ... more like a possibly-brisket-and-certainly-potato stew ... oh well ... maybe next time I'll try something less "creative" ... assuming that "creative" is what they were chasing ... and missing ... in this dish.
We want to love Rye on the Plaza, we do. But, sadly we can’t. New space, clean, great bakery, some decent food (although could be amazing but is missing something) but the wait for a meal is unacceptable. It takes a good 45 minutes to an hour to get a simple breakfast served up. First time it happened, we thought it was an anomoly...sadly it wasn’t. The food itself is good but is basic. Give us an amazing sausage with eggs or pancakes so
fluffy you think you’ve gone to heavan (mine tasted like a crepe. Not what I ordered). Oh yes, and the noise level - chaotic in the space. You can’t do much about the patrons, but put sound absorbers in the ceiling and train your staff to stop breaking dishes.
Loved it. Took a little bit of tine to be seated and for the food to come out, but it was worth the wait. Very yummy and fulfilling. I have no complaints, definitely will be going back.
The wait the get food was 60 mins. We enjoy the Mission Farms location but will the plaza location
Service and food delivery was very slow. I have been before and never had that issue so not sure if it was a staffing issue.
Great service and great food
Love this place. Food was BEYOND good and the pricing is pretty fair for the portions you get. Fried chicken is amazing!!!
Claire was our server - phenomenal! Thank you for your service, recommendations and attention. We highly recommend Rye on the Plaza and Claire as well!
Food quality is decent but the service was extremely slow. We waited for close to 40 minutes for our orders to show up at the table while the table next to ours showed up later but got their food not too long after we got out food.
Hostess was also brash. We were a few minutes early for our reservations but they made us wait until the time of our reservation to sit us despite open tables available during the time they made us wait.
Rye is one of my staples for weekend brunch or lunch. Their menu is southern centric but foodie friendly. Be aware, weekend brunch can get pretty busy, so without a reservation you may wait an hour. Busy times can slow down the wait staff and food prep, but its worth it and they are always very friendly about the wait. Its an easy choice on the plaza where it has become littered with chain restaurants.
Love this place!
We really enjoyed the wide variety of food available. The relaxed atmosphere was nice as well.
I brought an out of town business guest to Rye for dinner and was terribly disappointed. I wanted to show him the fantastic food scene in Kansas City, and Rye did not deliver. The service was adequate but not super, and the food was terrible. I had trout - no flavor except overwhelming black pepper, a few measly green beans and nothing special. The other diners in my party did not finish their meals, and they all had something different, so I can only assume theirs were not great either. We never received bread for the table, and the service was slow. There are many amazing food choices in Kansas City, and if I am choosing the restaurant I will never again choose Rye. I could have had an equally good meal at a cafeteria for a fraction of the price.
We were here Easter Sunday. We had a 2:15 reservation and were seated promptly at 2:15. The food as amazing, as expected, and the service very good. I highly recommend Rye Plaza for anyone dining out. We had desserts with our lunch and my husband had the lemon merigne pie which was the best ever! I have been here for tea and pie before and is always good.
Beautiful decor - excellent food and service - wonderful Sunday brunch. Very appealing restaurant on all counts.
It was just average and for Easter I expected more
Always a good choice for any meal. Today we had Easter Sunday breakfast.
Rye Plaza has the best cinnamon rolls in town.
Expensive but good for a special occasion
Beautiful inside, great service and food.
This was our first time at Rye and we thought everything was amazing! We took our 12 year old granddaughter and she loved the salmon. My husband ordered the halibut and said his was the best. I had the pork shank which melts in your mouth! Our Granddaughter is a key lime pie "connoisseur" and thought it was outstanding! We specifically requested Dan as our waiter as we know him from his work at Tannin's. We can always count on a memorable experience when he is serving us! Look forward to coming back with friends for the Sunday Meal Special!
It's all about what you order. I ordered the shrimp & grits (with pork). Having had this dish several times in different cities, I have something to compare it to. I found the sweetness of the "juice" overpowering and just the wrong flavor for this dish. I have never had this dish with pork added so I am sure it was the sugar in the pork portion of the dish that ruined it. You could not taste any other flavors than the sweetness that was overpowering...no cheese or shrimp. Another person order chicken and they said it was good but nothing to write home about. The person who had chicken salad did not comment on their meal. I have eaten a salad at the Leawood location and it was good.
I enjoyed much of the experience of Rye, I will return in the future to try many other of the options on the menu.
This was my second visit and overall it was ok. I went for brunch again and our food took an excessively long time to come out. Our server though pleasant seemed to be super busy. We didn’t receive any updates as to why the food was delayed etc. After the wait my steak was severely over done. I had to send it back. It was promptly corrected though. Still an awesome place.
We were seated promptly. Our server did a great job, she was attentive and friendly. The food arrived in a timely manner and the pork chops were AMAZING!!! Also do not skip the pie. I had the banana creme and my girlfriend had the strawberry rhubarb, both were absolutely euphoric. Rye is now one of my favorite places in KC to eat.
A great brunch/lunch menu made this a great place to bring my somewhat picky granddaughters. One devoured her pulled pork sandwich and enjoyed her mocha. The other found that her buttermilk pancake was not something she loved... and my taste of it indicated it was a little dense but tasted good. Her side of four sausage links was excellent and she gulped down her fresh squeezed orange juice. My spicy chicken sandwich touted by the server was neither spicy nor crispy. I wish I had the lobster roll which sounded great. But overall the menu, food and service were great and the whole restaurant is approachable and relaxed. We will definitely be back.
We went for brunch. Service was wonderful, a little slow, but that is to be expected with brunch. Had the Rye Breakfast. Eggs were very salty, but everything else was wonderful.
