Went midweek and winter storm was blowing in so really can’t say what the noise level would be like with a full house Even with a slow night the wait staff was attentive and the food was delicious. And yes “the fried chicken is really that good”! Don’t really get the ham gravy they serve with it, but that’s just me. Only reason I singed them a bit is it took me mentioning the fact they did not bring our side dishes to go with or entree. Desert was wonderful my wife had the southern cream pie and I had the Dixie pie, both very good. We will be taking family and friends here soon.
Always a pleasure earring gere
I had the same dish (chicken and dumplings) at the Leawood and plaza location, which was much better tasting at the Leawood location.
We come 1-2x a month and love the ambience and food.
Service is consistently excellent!
The food was good as always. We had a wobbly table that did not know it was until my daughter went to move and the entire table flipped over on her with plates, glasses everything. My problem with the entire ordeal was that the manager never came over to say sorry. As the server was cleaning up the table he again made it tip over and I caught it.
We went valentines night it was not super busy and it’s not like it should’ve been a surprise to them that they would be busy.
The service was poor from :
the hostess who had no clue what she was doing (we had reservations and when we went to check in she forgot to write down our name so there was all kinds of confusion and she basically left us at the bar and didn’t bother to come tell us our table was ready until we went back up to the hostess stand and asked about it)
- To the bartender who was not able to take care of customers in the order they sat down and was overall very slow
- To the waiter who took 10 minutes to come greet us at the table and even longer to take our order
- To the kitchen who took 45 min to get our food out.
At the end of the night as I was waiting for our car, I overheard a server talking to the hostess about what a “relatively hiccup-up-free night it had been “ I started to say something but decided they were too clueless for it to make a difference.
To end on a positive: I will say the food was good and I think the decor and ambiance is one of my favorites.
The hosts and the waitstaff were very kind and checked on us constantly. The food came out promptly and was cooked to perfection. Would definitely come back to this restaurant.
Excellent environment for a Valentines dinner. Wonderful service and good food.
Great service AND great food!
Valentine’s Day, but kitchen was keeping up. Had the giant tomahawk steak for 2. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Highly recommended!
We love Rye! As a result, we decided to spend valentine’s day there. The service was great, the food was fabulous and the pie — lemon meringue — was the perfect end to the meal!
Our meal was pretty hit or miss - some things were Great and others disappointing. Probably because of the holiday (Valentine’s Day), but still - restaurants should be prepared for such money-making events.
The bread (cornbread and baguette with mussels) was stale and taste like it had been out all day. The mussels were “meh” but not bad, just nothing special.
The shrimp and beef on the grits was over cooked (shrimp was like rubber bouncy balls). As if they sat under the heat lamp for a few too many minutes before bringing out. There was also too much sauce on the grits. It’s sad because without that much sauce and if the shrimp had been cooked properly it would have been understated and delicious - kind of ruined it for us.
But the foie gras was a modern spin on an awesome dish - we loved it, the Guinness cake was great. Solid cocktails. Good Mac and cheese. Fan-friggin-tasting fried chicken.
Would have been OK with the price tag if the food wasn’t such a roller coaster.
Great service - thanks, Dan!
Went there on Valentines day. Food was COLD. Scallops were small. The size of a quarter. Service was great through.
Quickly seated and very good service. Good food
chicken and dumplings had very little chicken. medium rare burger came out over cooked and dry. would have sent it back but we were short on time
Strong cedar odor when you walk in door. Limited menu -pretty pricey
Wonderful food, amazing service, can't wait to go again!
Great experience! The salmon was great and the desserts were even better.
Great spot down on the plaza. The price was great for the amount of food, tastiness, and location. We expected nothing less. The cocktails were not "WOW" but were ok. McKenzie our server did an amazing job. Food came out fast, great presentation, we didn't feel rushed. Had a great time!!!
Our waitress ignored us for 30 minutes had to get floor manager to get another beverage. My wife’s food was average. $100 disappointment
I had heard great things about the Rye from friends and coworkers and was excited to try it. The food was delicious and unique. I had the shrimp and grits and they were exceptional. I highly recommend the Rye for a date night or special night out.
The trout dish was delicious. Our food was really tasty. The cocktails were small and pricey.
Avoid the tiny table for two that feels like you are stuck next to a pillar in the middle of the room.
I had an absolutely amazing Birthday Brunch!!! The food is always phenomenal, top quality dishes and the service is extraordinary. They even went above and beyond to stick a candle on my plate for my 30th birthday!! I will come back again and again! Our server Victoria was especially exceptional!
Great brunch and cocktails! Must get the cinnamon roll!
We had a great dinner here in a Thursday night. The deviled eggs and Burnt ends were great appetizers and the pork chops were also very good and not too dry at all. We would definitely return.
Amazing flavorful chicken wings followed by the spinach salad loaded with flavor bursts and then the fried chicken all white were the choices that we shared and enjoyed for an early supper. The wait staff was knowledgeable, attentive, helpful and pleasant.
What a solid restaurant in Plaza area. Partner and I have visited a good numbers of new plaza area restaurants in the past year or so, Rye definitely is the best one so far.
My husband and I enjoyed lunch at Rye for the very first time yesterday and it was a wonderful experience.
I ordered the Red Quinoa Salad. The quantity of quinoa was terrific--most quinoa salads have very little. The Champagne dressing was delicious. I give 5 stars for the food as everything tasted wonderful.
My husband ate the smoked salmon from my salad and said it was delicious. He had the chicken sandwich and is still raving about it today.
The Guiness Ice Cream Cake was HEAVENLY!
Mr & Mrs M
Pleasant experience. Place was nice with good service but food was just good, not great!
Always great food and service. Specialty cocktails never disappoint, and the waiter was very knowledgeable.
We had outstanding service and recommendations. Meals and shareables were all well prepared. Simply some of the best fried chicken around. And don’t skip dessert. Ever!
My reserve 10 oz filet was awesome! My wife got the pork spare ribs and she did not enjoy them as much. Our server was attentive but didn’t have much personality.
Dinner was pretty ordinary for the cost. Fried chicken needed seasoning, gravy wasn’t terribly hot. We split a salad and instead of splitting in the kitchen we had to do it at the table. Beans were good. I expect more for $60 a person.
It’s become our go to fav on the UES
Not impressed with the chicken omelet and it was overpriced,
Nice location with solid food and service. Allowed us to hang out and talk on Sunday afternoon.
We went for a casual Sunday brunch after a charity race. Unfortunately the service was beyond disappointing. The restaurant was 50-60% full, so this doesn’t explain the poor service. We only saw our server twice - to take our order and to bring the check. Our food was delivered by another server. Our server never checked on us or our food. We would have gladly had another drink and dessert, but the time elapsed was getting absurd.
The food was really good and we appreciated the option of both brunch and lunch items on the menu.
Wonderful menu options, food and service. Only draw back was it was too dark to read the menu!
