We love Rye but for some reason on this visit our food took an hour to be served. The food was delicious though!

So disappointed with our experience at Rye. Several friends had recommended it for fried chicken and locally grown food. The fried chicken was nearly burned and dry. The shrimp and grits were just awful in that the shrimp were rubbery/tough and grits floating in sauce. We almost never return food, but we did this day. The chicken salad I exchanged for the shrimp/grits was average tasting and bread dried out. Semi-nice staff but an overall waste of $50 for lunch.

We had great food and service. Everything was delicious! Felt like it was a little pricey but the quality of food made it worth it. As the evening picked up, the noise level felt very loud but did not take away from the experience. Overall great evening and we will definitely be back.

Definitely NOT good for quiet conversation. We had driven over from East Jackson County to meet an old friend staying in a nearby hotel. Once we stepped inside the dining room/bar we could see that it would be impossible to have a good visit. Despite the heat, we asked to be seated outside and that was a good choice for us. At least there was shade, a nice view, and the noise level was MUCH lower. Food and service were just fine, interesting menu and drink choices, delicious desserts.

I can't decide about this place. The food is always good but its noisy as heck due to the concrete floors and the tight pack of the tables. Thus, the steak prices do not justify the experience for a $$ rated place. Now, they do have meals more fitting and priced for the cuisine which are a good value; but I would hardly call this a place to go for an upscale meal. We had to eat outside to escape the noise of the indoor dining room with a party of eight next to us. Outside was fine, but I don't consider that to be worth the $150 we spent on a dinner for two. I would tell anyone to go here, but don't expect anything fancy; except the price if you order steaks.

Overall, a lackluster experience. To start, the greeting from the manager was not inviting. There was confusion over whether or not we could have one of two open 4-Top tables, and so we were made to wait at 7:45PM on a Sunday before giving us the table we preferred. Even though we were ordering dinner, because we wanted to eat on the patio, they would not honor our open table reservation for points. Our 3-piece $17 fried chicken meal, while the chicken was excellent, was basically ala carte with no sides included. Overpriced for the value, and drinks are at NYC pricing if not during happy hour. The patio is excellent for an outdoor eating if you can overcome the other obstacles. We’ll only be going back for happy hour.

Family was in town -5 total ,all adults. Sunday night dinner, prime rib special 38$ served on Sundays only, no one ordered it. 4 of 5 had the fried chicken, I had the hanger steak 27$.
Cocktails were exceptional. Excellent wine selection. My wife loves the cornbread they serve.
Everyone loved their meals. Only frustration would be why a side doesn't come with the chicken at 20$ plus per plate.

Service is very comfortable, they are attentive without being on top of you. Pace is relaxed .

Pretty expensive for the food that we got. I wasnt inpressed with the food quality or taste. We ordered the 55 oz ribeye and it was probably the least flavorful ribeye I've ever eaten. Just not impressed with this place. Waste of LOTS of money. Plus, it was extremely loud and hard to carry on a conversation with my husband over dinner.
The chocolate hazelnut brownie for dessert was very good though.

The food is great at Rye. The service can be excellent or it can be a little less attentive than you would want it to be. Most of the time it is excellent though.

We have eaten at Rye many times and always enjoy the food and service. Our recent visit proved to be up to the standard we expect with one exception. I ordered the livers and gizzards because it is one of my favorite meals (I wish Rye would serve it as an entree and not just an appetizer.) They just weren't as good as usual. They seemed to be overcooked, a little charred and dry, and there were only about 3 gizzards, the rest livers (gizzards are my favorite.) We also ordered the meat plate appetizer and goat cheese appetizer, both very good. Two people in our group had the hanger steak and they said it was excellent.

We went for the Sat. brunch menu and really enjoyed great farm to table choices. I had the Rye breakfast which was filling and delicious. My wife had the fresh greens salad with cornbread--both excellent. The service was great and the place was comfortable. The tables are a bit close together in the main area, but there were also several larger groups which may have made the area seem more crowded.

Food was really expensive for the quality. I order the smoke spare ribs. They came very dry and weren't that tasty. The BBQ sauce offered was a bit funky tasting.

The Mac and Cheese with bacon tasted like your out of the box powdered cheese. The bacon was chewy and the noodles undercooked.

Ordered a Russian Stout beer and for 10 you get a measly wine sampler glass. Most places offer a bigger glass. The farm to table feel I guess is there way of justifying high prices.

Waiter had no personality. Felt very akward at times. The overall vibe was forced IMO. Trying to be something they are not. A restaurant in the plaza essentially. Even if they lowered their prices significantly I wouldn't go back.

The food wasn't that good and the staff that akward and boring.

The pan roasted salmon was excellent. For sides we had the house salad and loaded baked potato which were large enough to split and very good. The mussels appetizer was great, too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The dinner was excellent, our waiter was superb, and the general feel of the place was very good indeed. My only hesitation is that the sound level was quite loud at 7 PM it was sufficiently noisy that it made casual conversation difficult. But all in all, a very good day.

Excellent fried chicken, fried livers, fried chicken sandwich and pulled pork sandwich. (Eaten by 4 people, not just me!). Relaxed pace, teas timely refilled without asking. Pleasant server. A great place to meet between Cass County and Prairie Village.

The deviled egg app was the best part of the meal. Overall, the combination of food and wine prices are extremely high compared to other local establishments for what you get. Wines were 2-3X of retail and a $36 corking fee is unheard of locally. Ribs and pork chops were average at best and the sides were also just okay. This is after 6 or so visits to Rye, so perhaps it was a bad day.

Great meal except for the sprinklers. We sat on the patio on a warm Spring day. As we finished our meal the sprinklers turned on at 2pm. The staff of Rye rushed out to try and divert the water, but we moved anyway. We dried quickly and they offered us dessert for our troubles. That was wonderful and so was the desserts! As to the meal the Spinach Salad with pickled rhubarb was unique and incredible flavor. I had the Shrimp and Grits, which too was so unique and special. The waitress was very attentive and helpful. It was a lunch we won't forget.

Ate outside on a beautiful night. Food and service were excellent. Not real fond of the music being played and it was too loud. Other then that, it was a fun evening.

One question: why does open table ask if it’s a special occasion when nothing is done about it.
