Rye - Leawood
Lunch: Monday - Friday 11am-3:00pm
Mid-Day Menu: Monday - Friday 3:00pm-5pm
Dinner: Monday - Sunday From 5pm
Nice dinner. Kind of noisy, but knew that from before. Good cocktails.
Food and drinks were amazing and the service was great too!
I have severe food allergies, and Rye-Leawood seems to be the only restaurant in the whole KC area I can trust when it comes to the ingredients they use. The servers and chefs take it seriously when I tell them to clean the grill and omit certain spices and oils. In fact, they are the only restaurant that has never made me sick. I highly recommend for anyone with food allergies!
We have been to Rye many times. Never disappoints.
Service was a little slow throughout there evening
We love Rye for the drinks but food is not worth the price point.
Great place to eat. The Host sat us near a large group that was quite loud so we asked to move since we were on a date and they had no problem moving us. Amazing service. Our Waiter recommended some drinks that were very flavorful. My wife's steak was perfect and I tried the Quail. It was different but well worth it. Very good place to go for an easy date night.
Great service and even better food. Rye is easily one of the best restaurants in the Kansas City area.
Showed up for our reservation early and got seated in the back room. When I returned home I had a message that Rye has cancelled my reservation, yet I had told them and gave my name when we checked in. Open table support fixed it for me. Seated in the back room which was dark, needed phone flashlight to read the menu. At some point they turned the lights down lower, but after a while someone finally turned them back up. No ambiance in the back room. Waitress was blah! Food was excellent as usual, but will never sit in the back room again!!!
Try the BBLT it was great!
Three female friends & I met for dinner as we do monthly. We were seated promptly & our server was on top of water & menus. However “he” went downhill in patience from there. As we always do, we perused the desserts before ordering. Our server seemed to be in a hurry & put off by us not being ready when he was, even though the restaurant was not full on a Tuesday evening. Our food was delicious & served at the proper temperature; one Caesar with chicken, one wedge salad & loaded baked potato, one hangar steak, one smoked salmon & 2 slices of pie (lemon meringue & coconut cream). Our server was gracious enough to bring four tickets (his suggestion), although if he had brought one bill, we would have simply thrown in 4 cards & split it evenly as we usually do.
Overall, we had a good time with good food and will be back but hope for a different server.
This was our second visit after a great first Sunday brunch experience - so high expectations over the holiday weekend. It was a hot/cold experience, not the temperature but the food - some good items and some medeocre items and downright subzero on our meathead server, who showed no knowlwdge of the food prep, or ingredients, had no ability to introduce or define different cocktail or entree choices, when asked about two wine bottle choices - said "I don't know" and just looked at us and shrugged his shoulders. The final straw was he had no idea what merengue was.. when asked the difference between two options...do you see a pattern here.. his only recommendations were steak, mashed potatoes and banana cream pie! Very disappointing - this restaurant has so much going for it - we love the outside seating, love the local farm to table concept - missed the mark.
Have been to Rye multiple times and it is consistently top notch. This is the first brunch and it was excellent. I am a breakfast lover and the “Rye Breakfast” was delicious. Hopefully you can there early enough while they still have cinnamon rolls. Awesome - share one with your table.
My wife ordered the hanger steak and it was great. I ordered Shrimp & Grits. It was mediocre and definitely not worth the $28 price tag. The service was fair. There are other places in KC that offer better food at more reasonable prices.
Amazing in all aspects - ambiance Food cocktails and service
Service and food were great. Nick was our server and he was fantastic.
The chicken at Rye is absolutely perfect!
Our server Mara was awesome! So friendly, called us by name, made great recommendations when we asked. Hope we get her every time! :)
Rye is a fun restaurant and everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. Our waitress was wonderful as well. We went for our anniversary and the restaurant was a little too loud for us. (Note: This was on a Saturday night.) Still, if you are up for a lively and tasty meal, I would wholeheartedly recommend Rye.
Rye is one of our go to spots, especially when taking friends or family from out of town. The food and the service are always wonderful.
My second visit this week with more friends and we sat on the patio, one of the reasons we selected Rye. We each enjoyed our entrees, fried chicken (at my recommendation to one friend- -delicious!), red quinoa w/ salmon salad (recommend by server to the other friend)- - perfect salmon, & this visit I chose the “Midtown burger” which was 2 of the most delicious & perfectly grilled beef patties, cheese, & grilled onions on a toasted bun! Oh my! The American cheese would not have been my choice, though (kind of “de-classed” the look of the burger). The “pickle” was sliced marinated cucumbers (yum!) and the fries were nice and crisp...& hot, straight from the deep fryer!
So! The food wonderful, but as the lunch crowd increased, the service not so! I was never offered a second glass of water and my glass sat empty, as did one of my friend’s glass.
Food A+ Service C-
We love the food at Rye, but did not care for the drinks. Ordered a Moscow Mule(traditional), the bartender clearly had no clue how to make a simple cocktail!! Ginger beer, vodka & lime...done!
We enjoyed outside seating on a cool early August evening. Wait staff was attentive, ambiance was terrific. I enjoyed my dinner, my wife’s was just ok. But we’ll go back, especially when we can sit on the patio!
Friends getting together. Chuck, our server was great. He was attentive & allowed us to visit with each other at the same time. He was knowledgeable of the menu; exactly what a diner appreciates. He was patient and even took our photos!
I think the lunch prices were a little expensive, but, I will return! The fried chicken was wonderful, just as the rave reviews suggested!
We always look forward to dining here. Yes we do so much.
Sunday brunch was wonderful. Would definitely recommend!!
My friend and I attended for dinner. I’ve always enjoyed the brunch and lunch so I assumed dinner would be the same. I ordered the famous fried chicken and Mac n cheese. My chicken wasn’t very flavorful and the Mac n cheese was cold. My friend has severe food allergies and ended up with a burger and requested no tomato -since she’s allergic to them. They brought her burger WITH tomatoe on it and then looked shocked when she called the server to send it back and request a new bun. I was extremely disappointed since the server wrote down allergies and wrote no tomatoe on her order.
Wonderful dinner. But, for a $200 bill, you’d think Rue would throw in a birthday dessert!
Food was great. Service great. Noise a little too much. Deserts are the absolute best in KC.
The meal was delicious! Comfort food at its finest
The food at Rye is delicious. The service at this visit was a bit off but not enough that we won't return.
Clark, our server, was awesome! Love the gazpacho so much I had 2 bowls! Thanks Clark for your recommendations. You got me coming back again and again!
Excellent food and ambiance! Highly recommend the steak, but everything was delicious.
I had only been here for brunch at least 3 years ago and had been curious to go for dinner. Since my husband had never been we decided that it would be a fun date night. We got there early and decided to sit at the bar for a cocktail. We both ended up getting the well Manhattan on the happy hour menu. Which surprisingly were delicious for being well and on happy hour. So we ordered two more. Since we were having such a great time at the bar we decided to eat dinner there as well. I ordered the mussels and bread with goat cheese and honey. I am so glad I got both of these items! They are on the starters but the mussels are enough to eat for dinner and especially if you get something else to share. My husband got the fried chicken and absolutely loved it, I think it’s his favorite in the city now. We will definitely be back! I can’t stop thinking about that bread and goat cheese with honey appetizer.
Excellent all way around
Yep, still the best fried chicken in the world, and the Duroc pork chop melted in my mouth. Chef Colby never disappoints with his modern flavorful twists on American comfort foods.
Great food and the value on Monday, Steak night was good!
We eat at Rye with some regularity and the food is generally quite good. I wish the same could be said about the service. The last two times we've had dinner at Rye, the service has been sorely lacking. Most recently, my wife described our waiter as "surly." I would add "inattentive" to the list of adjectives. This is not a new problem...service has often been hit and miss for us.
If management paid as much attention to service excellence as they do to the quality of their meals, Rye would be truly exceptional.
UPDATE 8/15: The manager reached out to me, apologized for our issues related to service, and did everything in her power to "make it right." I appreciated this responsiveness and customer-focused attitude!
If I had reviewed Rye on my last visit--it would have been outstanding across the board. This time, no so much. We can in for a late lunch with our brother-in-law. While we were seated right away, most of the tables in more private spots had not been bussed and reset, so we were put at a table right next to the service cubby. Our server was late to the table, didn't update us on the daily menu offerings and generally seemed really off. After ordering a drink, we got a new server, Nick. He was amazing and that is the reason for the 'good' service rating. He caught us up quickly on menu offerings and was energetic and helpful throughout our time at Rye. I was not in love with my entree (but that is my fault), my co-diners loved their meals. We had dessert which was amazing. But greetings and servers can make such a difference in your overall experience, and that was the case with our visit to Rye this time. My brother-in-law had never been, but he did say he would come back, so that's positive.
Nathan was a great server and we enjoyed our meal. The food was local sourced and very fresh
