First time at the Leawood location. Food was good. The burnt end toast was delicious. The dumplings & trout were also were good, overall great service.
Worst experience I’ve had here. Really disappointed on how bad the waiter was and how unapologetic the team was on messing up 2 meals and how I had to seek them out to solve the issue.
Everything is always great at Rye! Amazing food, ambiance, and service.
I have been to Rye before and was very disappointed by the menu, service and food quality. This no longer ranks as a “special occasion” place.
Excellent steaks and cocktails!
A group of four women who haven’t seen each other in a year having a Christmas lunch. It was wonderful! The server was always available but never overly interfering. We could hear each other! The food was wonderful. We all left commenting on what a great experience.
Food was great - Waiter was off. He didn’t help with suggestions and ignored us most of the night.
A good meal but I've had better at RYE. The service was good but not as good as in the past. The server was slow to respond and waited a long time to engage with us. All in all, it was a good meal and good experience but I've had much better experiences at RYE.
Our food was exceptional. Our table of 5 ordered 4 different entrees and everyone loved their selection. I give 4-stars because we had an 8 p.m. reservation, but waited until 8:45 p.m. to be seated and then another 15 or so minutes before wait staff acknowledged us. Our server was fine, but for the price point of this restaurant, I expect exceptional service. The restaurant on a crowded Saturday evening was very noisy, so if you are looking for somewhere that is easy to visit, I would probably not recommend. This is a great restaurant and I will definitely be back!
I’ve eaten @ the Leawood location several times & I feel like the Plaza Location is better. The ambiance & food seem to be better. The service @ both locations is stellar. And dessert @ both locations is wonderful. The BEST banana cream pie anywhere!!!
We eat at Rye often, but usually on a week night. We have never had a bad experience until now. The noise level on Friday night was PAINFUL! Food was just OK. Very sad that our out of town guests had to experience one of our favorite restaurants on a bad night :(
We've enjoyed Rye before and it is always nice to return. The Butcher Board appetizer was a little light for the price when compared to some other places we've had similar offerings. Otherwise the food was up to expectations.
Rye was great as always. It has been a family favorite since day one. Monday Steak night is a value for what you get in regards to quality. My Maple Bacon Old fashioned was tasty also.
Always awesome. Great service and high quality food. Everything on the menu is fantastic.
Been going to the Rye for awhile now since it's close to where I stay while I'm in town. As a big whisk(e)y drinker, I love that they have a large selection of bourbons, ryes, and other various types of hooch. The food is usually good and the desserts are usually killer. I love the shrimp and grits. Their barbecue sauce? Amazing. And the fact that they source almost all of their ingredients from local farms says a lot about the quality and care they put into their food.
And though all these things are great, I just find the price point for most of their food items to be too high. This is just a personal qualm. I noticed that only very few entrees are less than $18.
However, this is still a phenomenal spot that is worth checking out.
It was hot in the restaurant and our waitress wasn’t very attentive. The food was great.
Wife and I love coming here. Excellent ribeye, trout, and not normally a vegetable person but all of their greens I've ever had are so fresh. Also, always have to order the lemon pie.
Always outstanding food! You won't be disappointed!
Delicious food! Excellent service! Lovely & creative atmosphere!
Ordered the steak for two - $110 - not prepared as ordered, Had to send back. Overall disappointed for the quality at the price point.
I love the food at Rye but the ambiance is poor. Even with the good food, my husband will not go back because they put us at a poor table on the end of the bar with Cage Fighting on the TV. There was a large party in the private DR and we sat and watched constant commotion with the serving of their dinners, drinks and desserts.
I will try it again for lunch.
My salad was over dressed.
Some reason little if any chicken came w my chicken and dumplings order
One of our favorite restaurants! Date night with another couple. The shrimp and grits is one of my favorite dishes there, however, there was so much sauce on the dish it was like soup and it completely over powered everything else. In addition I had tails on a couple of shrimp which I ended up biting into. The waiter did not seem too interested in rectifying the situation and brought me another plate of food with a different sauce, but just as much which was complaint in the first place. It will be awhile before we go back.
Business lunch - good food and easy to have a productive conversation.
Food - quite good but my soup was lukewarm. The crab hush puppies were delicious. Atmosphere - no lie, I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu. I mean, seriously- turn up the lights a little, dang. Our table was too close the the one next to us and a guy was almost literally sitting at our table. He was manspreading though so it was kind of his fault but it wouldn't have been a problem if the tables weren't so close together. Service was excellent! It's really expensive but I would say pretty much worth it. I don't know. We had an appetizer and dessert, no alcohol, two entrees (mine was inexpensive by their standards-just a soup and salad) and it was $75. So not like Capital Grille prices but still felt like it was high. Anyway, I'm not dying to go back there, but it wasn't a bad experience. I guess it wasn't just my soup that was lukewarm!
Really enjoyed the lunch service and food! But I have to say that The Brass Onions fried chicken is better! A delightful delicious lunch experience 😊 Definitely will come back!
A never fail space for lunch. Food choices good and taste great. Pricing reasonable. Worth a recommendation and return .
The atmosphere and food were really good . Great place for a date night
Went to Rye for our 15th anniversary celebration. They were very accommodating to us when we showed up early for our reservations and seated us almost right away. The service was quite good and the ambience was excellent. The issue that we had was the food. My wife had the rainbow trout and enjoyed it, but it made her very sick once we got back to our room. It's unfortunate because I've enjoyed Rye before, but this was an experience we'd like to forget. Great service, great atmosphere, but the food didn't work for us.
We had a wonder anniversary dinner at Rye. Our waiter was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu. My husband ordered a steak that you could cut with a fork, and I ordered the Shrimp and Grits - both were absolutely delicious!
It was a cold evening and a warm venue. The food selection was good (salt and pepper to each of your own taste). I wouldn’t be a “regular” because of price, but we loved it!
Moscow Mule was heavenly and feeling cold, dinner was awesome to Crab puffs and mac n cheese to ribeye steak cooked exactly as requested. Waiter was always available and answered all questions and even brought extra fried apples w a side dish. Will go again. TY!
Nick was our server and he did an excellent job. He knew the history of the restaurant and gave so much info that we are planning to partake of the Monday Specials. The Banana Cream Pie was like heaven!
As always, very good food! Monday night steak special is a really good deal.
Excellent! The food was delicious and well presented. Cannot go wrong here!
I had heard many good things about this restaurant. All true. The cocktails are serious and amazing! Schuyler, the mixologist was great!
We started with the steak tartare and mussels. Yum!!! We had the Duck breast and my husband had the filet. Both were cooked to perfection. The flavors here are some kind of sorcery!
Our server Samantha was excellent and attentive. The staff here is friendly and talented. Worth every star
Food was great
Cocktail and appetizers were outstanding. Hanger steak was super chewy and fries were inedibly salty. Kids Mac and cheese was super garlicky and under seasoned. Who puts a ton of garlic in a kids dish? Server forgot our bottle of wine and came back 10 minutes later to ask if we ordered something else.
I had the Bourbon Shrimp and Wedge Salad appetizers and they were absolutely the best I’ve ever had. My friend had the trout and she moaned as she ate. Delicious!
